Luke Ball's performance against St Kilda

There are some funny quotes in this thread. It appears every other Luke Ball thread on the main board had to be locked because of the massive over reaction by Saints supporters of how Luke Ball was finished... wasn't worth the pick!

How wrong they all were :D

Ball's numbers on the rise

"Luke Ball’s 28 possession game against Carlton has bumped up his average number of possessions to 22.1 which is a career high. His previous best was in 2005, the year he won St Kilda’s best and fairest while earning All-Australian honours.

"

Not bad for a throw away :thumbsu:

In Round 3 against St.Kilda, even Ross Lyon gave Luke Ball votes in the coaches award. He was even better against them in Round 16! He has been fantastic this season so far, and St.Kilda must be missing him terribly. :) I love Luke Ball. ;)

Until GF day we won't know how it will turn out for the Saints.

If the Pies win suffice to say that it didn't go well for them.

If the Saints win, they won't give a stuff about Luke Ball.

I have to put my hand up and say I was wrong.

He's been better than I thought and even though he's had a fair few ordinary games which Pie supporters can't see he's been very servicable. It just highlights how poor Collingwoods in and under players are like Pendlebury. He's giving perennial squibs like Didak a free run.

Master stroke by MM. The man can add an ordinary player to a side and make them look better than they are.

Under finals pressure though the ship is going to sink and I'll be enjoying every minute of it. :thumbsu:

Deep breath.

You might as well sign off your posts acknowledging whatever you just said will be wrong Kelvin because I've never actually seen you get anything right. It'd save you from having to revisit these threads as least :)

classic stats - you gotta laugh at how bad this has turned out for Saints
He just looks great in a Collingwood jumper! :)

Of course anything can happen on Preliminary Final weekend, and St.Kilda are a fair chance of reaching a Preliminary Final, but they have not improved on last year, and they can't all of a sudden become quicker when they are such a slow team, and they can't change that they have such a long tail due to a number of ordinary players.

You are always wrong, and I'm sure the rest of this post is going to show your usual rubbish.

He has been tremendous this season and very consistent.

Ha ha ha! No wonder you call yourself Sheedy because you're as out of touch as another bloke named Sheedy. Scott Pendlebury averages 12 contested possessions per match. Luke Ball averages 10 contested possessions per match. Alan Didak averages 9 contested possessions per match, which is fabulous for a player whose job it is to finish what others players provide around the stoppages. Somehow I think it is you that is the squib, and to make yourself feel better about that, you choose to call others a squid when they are not at all.

Every team has ordinary players that are in the team to perform a role, but Collingwood has less then many, and certainly less than Essendon. That said, this thread is about Luke Ball, and not about one of the Collingwood players that some label as being ordinary.

What sort of stupid statement is this? There are many people that know a bloody lot more about footy than you that believe Collingwood can win the premiership, and this sentence doesn't change that at all of course. That said, I'm sure you must be looking forward to the finals when you can hope that Collingwood loses, because your team's season will certainly be over.
Go Cats... don't let me down Bomber!
Oh I see, you've changed teams. I don't blame you for that because I could never imagine supporting Essendon, but it is very weak of you.

Pendlebury after getting over his broken leg from last years finals is having a superb year.

Is 8th favourite for the brownlow in fact

Kelvin Sheedy walked away from bigfooty when he declared his own team crap some months ago. The Essendon Board applauded his decison. they must be disappointed by his return and clumsy trolling attempts.

Strange timing, thought you guys had a blockbuster against Geelong this weekend?

He has been very good and definitely exceeded expectations.
He certainly hasn't exceeded my expectations. I was very disappointed on the day that the trade for him failed because I knew he would be great for Collingwood. Thankfully he was still able to get to Collingwood, and without losing either Goldsack or Wellingham was just great!

I always felt he would be great because I had no doubt that he would perform better away from the negative influence of Ross Lyon and with the more game time that he deserved. I said that his body was sound, which was confirmed when he was sent to AZ on the day after he was drafted instead of remaining behind on a modified programme, and it seems I was right.
Where is Armitage? Injured?
He wasn't performing in the VFL, and then he got injured. He would have to be one of the biggest draft failures of recent times. His career averages are not very good in four seasons now, and he has failed to play well in successive matches.
Still, if the Saints win the flag the trade will be a non event.
Not necessarily, and that's far too simplistic because even if they do win the premiership, it was still bad player management and has weakened their team and strengthened an opposition team for not only 2010 but a few more years as well. Collingwood may win the 2011 premiership with Luke Ball, when St.Kilda may have won that premiership too.

YOU ARE THE WORST CLUB TO LOSE A PLAYER TO!!! Get over LUKE BALL he's doing well at collingwood not so well at the saints considering they drafted him before Judd - You hit the nail on the head - saints didnt wanna do the deal wit collingwood because 1- they didnt wanna lose him 2- collingwood jumped in and offered him 500k 3- collingwood is in the same window as the saints hence trying to hang on to him for 300k

you missed one thing - why didn't he want to stay??

Because he was always going to play second fiddle to Lenny Hayes?

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see Luke playing well no matter which club he's at but he wasn't ever going to be our first choice for hard, inside midfielder and that's why he left.

Modern midfields have 10 or more on the roster. Saying theres no room for both Hayes and Ball is not only a cop-out, its also patently wrong.
