Just rewatched the full 3rd quarter of the GF. To say I’m excited is an understatement. His best is as a midfielder who can ruck. Darcy, Jackson, Serong and Fyfe at a centre bounce would be incredible.

Edit: and I can also see quite clearly how that knee injury has been hammering him this season. His spread from the contest in this is much, much better than any legit ruckman, but he’s lost that a bit in recent weeks.

Two first rounders for one player would be crazy. All you need is to get some recurrent long term injury and you have effectively lost the equivalent of potentially two top end players. It's not that I don't want him it's just Jackson is primarily a ruck which we already have a decent one.

I remember back in the day journos talking to our recruiters about whether we would pick up a forward in the draft. The answer would always be along the lines of " aw yeh we'll have a look but we'll take best available" We always ended up with mids or defenders. It's like trying to build a house and spending your whole time trading in bricks - at some point you've gotta buy some tiles and put the roof on.

History shows if you can't score well you are unlikely to win a premiership. Jackson would be a good addition but he's unlikely to be the answer. Please let's not overpay.

Taylor’s been having this dream for some time.

Anyone ever considered that our first-choice onball unit, as great as it is, is not uniformly strong enough or big enough?

I am looking forward to seeing Ras and Johnson in there one day but they are not yet the D9 dozer - the Petracca, Oliver, de Goey type - they need to be.

Brownlow era Fyfe was that guy. That guy with a phenomenal leap to boot. And him strolling through the middle will always help but he’s more banged up than Ava Devine’s arseh*le.

We need a unit in there who doesn’t get strong-armed or sidelined and who doesn’t have a shoulder that’s been operated on more often than Ava’s chest puppies.

Imagine a 6’6” ruck rover.

I don’t need to. I’ve seen it.

Brayshaw is the 3rd favourite for the Brownlow. Lets hypothetically say he wins it.

Round 1 2023 in the centre square with Darcy in ruck and 200cm Jackson and 3 brownlows between the other 2....bulls on parade.

The expression "2 first rounders" is such BS because it could be picks 1 and 2 or it could be picks 17 and 18.

Logue and Henry could both leave this off season for picks in the 20's and they were recent top ten picks.

In Mundy's draft when we took him at pick 19 we had 2 x first rounders....Ryan Murphy and Ryley Dunn. What did they play, 50 games between them???

Wait for confirmation but looks like Gary Lyon was right. My guess is either we got cold feet, or (more likely IMO) we lowballed the Dees and they convinced Luke to consider the Eagles.

Not expecting this to get a lot of likes. FTR, I don't think think this is good news because now we definitely won't get him on the cheap so naturally I am praying the Eagles will give up pick 2 (or split it).

Let's temper that with Mick Gleeson being quite fond of the Dees (he writes about Oliver a lot) and I'm not sure I've read anything he has written about the non Victorian sides that wasn't inherently about the Victorian side they were against or being a cheerleader further drama for the non Victorian side.

You don’t get a previous pick 3 and KP cheap.
2 x first rounders, is fair considering where those picks will be and
located.
You’d think that they could just take Lobb and our first and still be
premiership contenders.

Great news! Let the slime have him for a grossly exorbitant price! It's win-win!

Interesting comment on the West coast board , Thinking that because they have pick 2 they could just march him to the PSD. That would not happen because Melbourne would do an 11th hour deal with us rather than let that happen . Also I am Sure Jackson has enough respect for Melbourne that he would not involve himself in that sort of underhanded approach.

Article sounds like a Melbourne shill. Regardless, WC are in no-man's land for Jackson with their picks of 2, 20, 26 and the need to fill heaps of holes in their list. They need to split pick 2, which would be an enormous headache. And if they adopt a PSD stance (which I hope is what happens) then it only helps us.

Pick 13 + Lobb (directly or indirectly) is more than fair. Even paying too much based on Jackson's season.

Will be furious if we give up 13 plus future 1st. Always possible we could slide slightly and that would be around pick 10.

We could walk him into the National Draft and let West Coast choose whether they want to pick him at pick 2.

History says they won't and he'll last until pick 13.

Agree though - deal will get done to us. He won't be interested in West Coast. Has never liked them and he never will.

Agreed. We lose a couple of key players, have a bad run with injury, and the fixture gives us a nightmare seeing we finished top 6. Suddenly the future first is in single digits.

You guys can have Jackson on one condition. Freo never interferes in our trades like how you interfered in the Kelly trade. It's time for Freo and Eagles to stop this nonsense as it hurts both clubs. Both clubs just need to just stay out of each other's business.

If Eagles are interfering saying we want Jackson it's only due to what Freo did with the Kelly trade. Doubt we seriously want him. This is likely Melbourne talk to raise his price.

At a higher philosophical level, I would actually admire Jackson if he did just nominate a state, put a salary on his head and told his club it could now negotiate with both to get the best compensation for Melbourne in terms of picks/players.

This nominate one club business, not nominate a state, shits me and shafts us every time. We should be given the right to flog our next mumma boy like Cerra to any club in his nominated state that agrees to meet his salary.

What did we do?
