Parker has leadership coming out of his wazoo.
Can't get my head around the possibility of him running out onto the ground behind LMac.

More seriously, I would make this guy co captain with either Jy or Luke. He sets the standards, and they have rapport. Just Parker solo would end up rubbing too many the wrong way, without the connections.
Personally I’d want Xerri as vice, but there’s a few good options there.

Who do you think would be rubbed up the wrong way if Parker was sole captain?
Lots of players, if as a new arrival he started dictating what they could and couldn’t do with their time, or how they should and shouldn’t act. He would probably be right, but a big part of communicating those things is having a pre-existing positive relationship.
It’s the same reason that good teachers develop a rapport with their students - so that they’re more open to constructive criticism when it comes.
Worried about upsetting Jy or Lmac? Who cares? Both need to focus on their own games.

I think given his runs on the board, he should have a lot of open ears.
If Jy or LMac get their knickers in a knot... diddums!
Things need to change drastically at our club in terms of culture so anyone who's not willing to come for the ride, can look elsewhere.

Someone posted that Jy threw the toys out of the cot as he wanted to be the main man in the middle.
This would be a step ahead of that.
I would tend to agree that they should. But you can be very confident that they won’t. I mean most of the players broadly, not just Jy and Lmac.

If that's the case, then we have a massive problem! I don't think it is though. I think the majority of our players want to get better and want to win games of football. They now have the perfect guy to show them what's required.
Well I guess the past 4 years have shown there isnt any good rapport or relationships. Just take a look at the last handful of games. Probably good rapport as mates, but nothing that suggests AFL quality

Places get new bosses all the time. Parker is a step above anything else we have in onfield leadership. Bloke should get the gig. The big X and HS to grab the vc spots, and if blokes sook up, jeepers, toughen up. Any wonder we've been neck deep in crap for however long.

Its not just them. Two seasons ago George W smacked the **** out of Parker in his first game. Parker gave it back but Georgie just ate it up. I'm sure there is respect there but its probably more from Parker to GW while George is just hungry to take on anyone. It might work but it might not... its just one of those things.
And I'll tell you now if you're a proper leader the title doesn't mean Jack shit.

You may be right, but I don’t think it will happen. I think the best we can hope for is that Parker coming in forces Jy and LMac to have a long long look in the mirror and realise that if the situation is not going to be a mockery they really need to immediately take their game and leadership to another level (or two). Who knows.

Should be an easy enough sell to them individually as well.
Their main focus should be on regaining their best footy, because it's been a while since we've seen it from them consistently.

I reckon Jy and Lmac already spend too much time looking at themselves in the mirror. Seriously though, if we're hoping that after however many years in, that both realise they need to lift their game, when, imo, they are not able to elevate from the level they are at, then we've no business in even bothering to bring Parker in.

I wouldn't think twice if they made Parker captain and they put in a succession plan for young Harry.
It would be a huge statement to the playing group. It would also be a chapter turning moment for the Club.

Wonder if all the list in 73 sooked up a storm because we brought in Barry Davis and made him captain….
I agree. I think if I was either Jy or Lmac I would be willing to look at myself and say it hasn't worked or been a success and its time for a change and get back to some of the form they once had. Walking away takes guts but its the right thing to do. Lmac wouldnt be top 22 in our team at the moment and Jy would be on the bench at best and this is in the worse performing club over the last 5 years in a very very long time. Captains need to be inspiring and leading by example not necessarily the nicest people going around.
I reckon clarko will start to put the heat on the group this season and Parker as captain will compliment the demanded standards. I'll be very disappointed if Jy or Luke lead us out in round one, we need change now.
