Kicking is really really starting to worry me with an AFL career in mind, got a lot more involved yesterday but his kicking all season has big ??? on it.
So many injury interruptions = no continuity in training = poor skills

I'm sure in his development, there's been other aspects of his game, that's been focussed on .....field kicking isn't that bad, goal kicking a bit of "blaze away" currently

All will workout

What’s been wrong with his last few SANFL games?
“Last few” doesn’t that say it all? Look I like Pedlar and hope he makes it but he’s a high draft pick who has struggled to make much of an impact at SANFL level let alone AFL.

All I’m saying it’s not unreasonable to suggest he needs to show a lot more next year and needs to be playing regularly in the AFL.

Wowsers. Has he even had a proper injury free preseason yet?

Just turned 20 and he’s already at a make or break cross roads?

* me

Yeah I think so. Has shown little as a Pick 11 and his body breaks down easily. If he has another year like this year, I think we'd all be worried.

I don't see how that is controversial.

He was taken as the 5th most highly rated midfielder in the 2020 draft. The expectations are very high as they should be

Two years prior we also took the 5th most highly rated midfielder (Jones) so there should be similar expectations on Pedlar as there were for Jones

Pedlar is fine .....will be everything expected of a top 10 pick

Next year is his third year on the list, it’s not unreasonable to suggest he needs to be showing a lot more than he is now.
As much as LDU showed in his 3rd year?

No idea if was injured early but after round 8 he played 9 games and averaged 17 possessions, in his second year he played 14 and averaged 14.

So yeah, I’d take that career progression but Pedlars second year falls well short of LDUs.

Maybe you should have chosen a different player if you were trying to be clever.

"Trying to be clever"

I was just posting a literal comparison with someone who was a high pick, had injury issues, developed slower than BF would like, and is topical for a great game yesterday. Literally setting a target for Pedlar. Hoping he does as well.

You're just reading too much into things.

LDU has been **** till last year ....even then he's been largely disappointing, with LDU being labelled a poor selection .....yesterday's game was a preview of what NORTH supporters have expected, but has rarely delivered

Supporters lambasting our Draft picks, should be cognisant of what other clubs draft picks are producing

And yet Pedlar is tracking nowhere near LDU early so some posters should be cognisant of what our own clubs draft picks are producing.

Look I’m not writing off Pedlar and I like him, but it’s not an unreasonable statement to say that in his third year he’d want to be more advanced than what he’s shown so far.

I'm not in the slightest worried .....it's not about one year ....it's about a career

Pedlar injured for a large portion of his Draft Year .....cops the reduced games / training of CoVid in year1

Understand that on a Club Forum, there's nothing to talk about, if all players are progressing well .....so the Kane Cornes type grenades do generate chat .....it's simply noise though

But really .....there's nothing to see here with Pedlar .....same as there's nothing to see with Cook, who escapes similar critiqueing, because of his lower Draft position

I’m glad you’re not worried but I doubt pjcrows was trying to mimic Cornes, I dare say he was providing an opinion, a reasonable one, he didn’t say he was a flop but what he hoped to see from a young players third year on the list, but as is the way on this board, you can’t share a critical opinion about a young player without some posters trying to impart their wealth of wisdom in why their opinion on our young players is more valid.

Just curious, what are your expectations for 2023? What’s a pass mark in his third year?

Rachele, Soligo and Taylor barely played for two years thanks to Victoria being a prison state but they have all gone flying past Pedlar.

This is Pedlars 2nd year on the list .....5 games thus far .....normally you get 1-3 games in year 1, and 5-8 games year 2

So a bit behind, but nothing to get hung-up about ......injury free PS and 8-12 games would be my expectation next year

I don't mind critical opinions ....opinions are what this place is about .....but declarations of players being flops, and accusing Hamish for another poor Draft Pick .....simply replicates the type of hand grenade comments, posters accuse Kane Cornes of

Has anyone called him a flop and another poor draft pick? Or have you exaggerated that part in a similar way Kane Cornes does?

So let’s say he doesn’t get to your benchmark of 8-12 games and his SANFL form is just ok and inconsistent, what will you be saying?

Your view Rachelle and Taylor have flown past Pedlar, is rubbish ......not sure you can claim Taylor has, given Pedlar played 2 games in year 1 ....and Taylor 0

Rachelle had maybe 2-3 good games .....but many of his other 10 were simply ave - below ave games

This is simply another Fogarty pile on ....same posters

If I wanted to dig up old posts .....George, they're really not hard to find

My POV on players doesn't change, based on a game, a qtr ...or a poor season ......you judge the talent / playing style
History says, cream rises to the top .....but then we wouldn't have anything to chat about, would we ;)

Eventually there becomes a point though that they need to be developing and establishing themselves otherwise you’d never turn over your list.

So how long you giving Pedlar?
