LVFL - 2011 PRE Season

Clubs are provided with copies. They aren't on the website. If you're after the law relating to finals eligibility: A senior or reserves player must have played at least four reserves games prior to finals to be eligible for senior or reserves finals.

Isn't there a clause though that states if a player plays for his club in different divisions on the same day that the higher level game is the only game counted towards finals eligibilty. I am sure that all VCFL affiliated clubs have this in their bylaws. If this is the case for the LVFL then Kurt Ashman will not have met the eligibility criteria to play in finals. If this isn't the case then all is good and he plays. Pretty handy player to have too.

Makes sense that clause would be in place. Just so happens B/waters president is the senior vice president of the league. Not saying they would cheat or anything like that but ......

thats interesting, so if your a regular senior player, been dropped to reserves or coming back thru reserves from injury & you get reported for 2 matches.
You cant return to seniors until 2 reserve matches have been played?

So another scenario is if you get suspended in the seniors for 1 match, the seniors have a bye the following week but the resrves are playing, you can't count that reserves much as a club game and return to seniors after the bye?
correct,i knew a guy who played all year in the twos and last home away game of the year they gave him a run in the seniors got rubbed out for a week but because the seniors werent playing finals he missed all three finals game the reserves played in (and won a premiership) and had to sit out the first senior game of the following season to serve his suspension. Moral to the story: Dont get reported.

Hey guys has anyone else heard the rumour that Troy Auld wont be at Bridgewater next year and is taking several of the players and he will coach Huntly in the HDFL? Also Bill Grant to take over from chalky and coach the mean machine?

Would find this hard to believe though especially if bridgy win the flag which would make it back to back.

Surely they would have checked it before the day that he played both seniors and reserves and then again before the weekends final. It is nt something that you can take a gamble on as Dunolly have just found out

Yeah, alot of merret in that, hear that B/W have run out of money, can't afford to pay players.Huntly been building up 4 the last few yrs getting ready to have a real crack at it...baker, o'bree, adam auld all live in that area, bound to be part of the deal!

Hellboy! I was in the car tonight on the way home and flicked on the Fresh FM footy show & Wallace Teasdale was bagging the sh.... out of your club Marong. I switched it on late in the piece but From what I could gather there was some point of difference between the Club and the radio station about having Saturday's game on radio at Malone Park & every person he spoke to he found a way to bring it up. e.g- Asking the Inglewood President did Marong make the finals last year? & then saying Nahhhhhh I don't think so & plenty more than that. What was the story?

Wallace Teasdale is out of line. Basically they want the club to provide a truck (with sides) so they can broadcast the game. The problem is they need to be within 50m of a phone line which means they can only be in one position - right beside the Marong coaches box. This area had already been set aside for a beer tent and having taken a look at this yesterday it was decided a truck would also block out far too much of the ground for people standing on the hill (nearer to the canteen end). We became aware that they had found a way to broadcast the GF from Calivil wirelessly and suggested that if they could do the same at Marong we'd be more than happy to accommodate. This conversation was had with production manager (I think) at Fresh FM. Next thing we hear Wallace is on the radio bagging the club. He had not had any discussion with the President to find a resolution. We'll see if he returns the President's call this morning.

according to bendigosbestsportfm . com, 101.5 will be broadcasting LBU v Elmore 2nd Final instead. Very disappointing result for the LVFL

must have got a truck okay for nth bgo yabbydoo. but theres 2 pavilions they could park beside at atkins street the old rooms at the top end and then the newer bldg. adjacent 2 to the rugby ground. bit more leeway out at north for power and (maybe) phone line

yeh, good point zak, and I'm sure the beer tent needed prime location. Shame about the radio coverage and publicity the lvfl would've got.

I'm quite sure footy clubs and leagues make more money from beer tents an bbq's than they do from community radio. If the truck was going to block the view of those people who paid to go to the football to support, rather than stayed home and listened on the radio then i dont think its unreasonable. Maybe Wallace could have invited the pres to join him on air rather than just take the free hit.

Great post:thumbsu:

The lvfl have bigger crowds than the bfl. The bfl are often broadcast. Maybe no broadcasting of the lvfl increases lvfl crowds.!!

And hell, the other positive is...my beer will be close.

The LVFL generates bigger crowds as these clubs have townships, the only reason the BFL will get a decent crowd into the Sandhurst v South game on Satdy is because it commences at 6.30pm. Its a credit to the loyalty of country clubs really. As for the beer situation, couldnt help but notice at every final i've been to this series (only missed one) there has been a large population of people carrying around drinks (e.g. Carlton Draught Stubbies) that are obviously not being distributed through the bar. How do you inforce the rule of no BYO? I realise u cant search every car otherwise you'd be there all day and night! I guess u just have to cop it on the chin and realise that there are tight ar$*#$ out there that don't understand what it takes to keep a country club alive!

Actually I've noticed at a couple of finals venues that they've been selling stubbies and cruisers over the bar which is risky business given the penalties.

I don't think there's much can be done about people bringing their own in despite the fact it's actually against the law.

As far as i knew it was illegal to have an open glass container at any football game in Victoria? Maybe the police should send in a few undercoveries and make examples of a few to put the fear out and deter the BYO..... Just a thought, it would work though im sure

what are everyones thoughts on the results tomorrow?? personally I think that YCW might sneak over the line against pyramid and I think Mitiamo's twos will be too strong for YCW's reserves...

YCW is my pick for the snrs. Walsh and crew would've fine tuned the game plan. YCW seem to be consistant battlers that wear teams down. It will be disappointing for Pyramid Hill, three recent highly paid failures to get to the Grand Final. Nail biter, YCW by less than a kick.

Mitiamo reserves might be strengthened a little if some of last weeks snr players are qualified for the reserve finals. They have some very good ressie players, eg. Ginnivan, Bacon, Falls to name a few, even young Spicer goes OK. Whereas YCW, will require a big game from Hopley, Deacon & Aitken. YCW by 20 points.

Inglewood and Newbridge U17's. Happy to see Inglewood having success at this level, with all the heartache that they've had at junior level for many years. Many of the kids have played snrs this year (Hywood, & Essex). That big No. 10 (Butler) will not be able to be stopped in the ruck and on-ball. He has a big future. Rhys Roberts has been playing U 17's since he was about 10. That little gem in the forward line that handballs to himself and then runs onto the ball (Thampson). Whereas, Newbridge U17's, they Have the coaches boy Dylan Burt, great player. Their Captain Daniel Webster will be a great senior footballer in the future. Not to mention Milne, Frisewll & Kerr. Inglewood for me, 4 goals.

yabba, don't think cent. vic hub folks too happy about the antics of will we or won't we broadcast from marong re community radio prolly old news now seeing they r going to nth bgo for the hdfl semi bit like elephants footy admin folks tho' - have loooooong memories

Would be a big effort to turn around an 8 goal hiding just 2 weeks ago into a win, YCW don't have the class to match Pyramid Hill. Doubt it will be 8 goals again but the hill will get over the line. Watching them last week they were not not far off bridgewater but the better side won on the day!

Pyramid home just. Ycw coach reported after the game for accusing the umps of cheating. Actually thought yc had the better of what was pathetic umpiring. No wonder heathcote league opted for rochester umpires for their finals. The ground was a disgrace as everyone predicted. The league need humping for allowing a prelim final to be played on a ground like that. Both sides suffering injuries that maybe could have been avoided. I think David Young and co have again worked to bridgys favour as they did last year when they played the prelim on that wet wet day when sensible leagues called their games off.

A brilliant game of footy, both sides gave all. $10 well spent. The crowd appeared to be less than the other finals, disappointing considering that there was no footy in Bendigo during the day.

I agree, the surface was attrocious. Many pussy grazed players at the end of the day. Lots of soft tissue injuries. Bridgewater will definitely be playing a depleted team in the Grand Final.

Umpiring was a poor standard, full credit to the players for their discipline.

Wishart of Pyramid stretchered off. Wood of YCW stretchered off after an incident near the 50 metre mark in the last qtr, which resulted in no free kick. Devon Brown received no free kick for his head being a target 20 metres from YC's goal late in the game.

A Pyramid Hill player had his "chest" coathangered with a couple of minutes to go, he received a free and a 50 metre penalty resulting in a goal. Wilmott of YCW ran through the square at the last centre break resulting in a Pyramid kick from the square.

Good luck to Pyramid Hill in the Grand Final. Many old, lifetime supporters have never seen Pyramid Hill win a Grand Final.

The league need to make some changes if they want to be taken seriously, the state of Marongs ground for a preliminary final was a disgrace. Its time to start playing all finals in bendigo on good grounds. Better crowds and better facilities. Will be a massive disadvantage to pyramid hill in the grand final after playing on that surface. Walsh obviously had sour grapes because YCW seemed to have a better run with the umpires from where i was standing. There would also be a goal umpire breathing a bit easier after giving YCW a goal that was clearly a point when the game was in the balance. He might not have got out of the ground alive if Pyramid went down by less than kick. Gutsy win in the end considering they only had 1 bloke on the bench from the 5 minute mark of the 2nd QTR and none by the last QTR.
