Lynch- Cleared

Pretty lucky, in my opinion, considering Lynch's record (although, Lynch did have a reasonable case).

It begs the question though, considering it only took the tribunal 5 minutes to make their decision, with the field umpire's evidence playing a significant role in the outcome, why didn't the video umpire confer with the field umpire prior, to avoid the un-necessary charge?

How can you break someone's cheek in a spoil attempt and not get pinged? I've got no doubt it was accidental but the fact remains that he has whacked a bloke in the side of the head and put him out of action for a month.

No penalty = what a joke...

Absolutely nothing like Clokes.

No swinging arm in the Lynch incident, and Cloke did not have an opponent hanging on to him. The contact happened as the ball arrived with Lynch, not late like Cloke.

The tribunal has been consistent for the first time in living memory as it cleared Biglands in Rd 1, so it had to clear Lynch as it was a lot more line ball.

Media reports over the weekend have indicated that Wakelin may play this weekend.

But yeah, I think he was a bit lucky.

Still, thats footy :)

No doubt it was accidental? I don't know if it was or not but how long does Lynch think his arms got over night?

Not surprising, was a waste of time reporting him in the first place. Cloke would of been cleared too, if he didn't do it during a final.

Cloke's attack on Edwards was alot more severe than Lynch's, and Lynch was actually trying to puch the ball not the man in the head:mad:

Apparently it is only reckless if it doesn't involve a Lions player doing the punching. I think one Jason Cloke will be fuming over this decision.

Why? Belting Edwards saved Cloke from being embarrassed in 2 Grand Finals. (...although it would have saved the embarrasment from his old man after the tribunal hearing.)

You guys have to be kidding dont you, there was no way in the world he deserved to be rubbed out for that, The ball was in the vicinity and if he was not be held back off the ball he would have been able to get off the ground. What was he suppose to do, no make a contest. Football is turning more into a game for the fairies everyday

Are you trying to say Cloke wasn't? Then you don't know him very well, do you. Lynch has a far greater history of punching opponents than Jason Cloke ever has.

As for a lot more severe I don't think so.

Well now all AFL players know that when they want to punch someone all they need do is wait until the ball is in the vicinity. Better let Baker know that.

So you don't mind players whacking each other in the head if the ball is in the vicinity?

The rules state that you can not make contact to another players head. End of story. Lynch not only made contact, he nearly knocked Wakelin out and fractured his cheekbone in the process.

Should have got at least 2 weeks.

So you honestly believe he was targeting the player?

The tribunal set a precedent with the Biglands case, good to see them get another one right.

Doesn't matter. Under the AFL rules if his action was reckless he is guilty of the charge. That is what Jason Cloke was suspended for. A total lack of consistency. (I can put the roll eyes in too)

So by your reasoning the AFL should rub out any player that makes a high tackle??

If it would have been a Collingwood player up there you would see it the other way, its just Collingwood have a chip on there shoulder in regards to Brisbane.
