So by your reasoning the AFL should rub out any player that makes a high tackle??

If it would have been a Collingwood player up there you would see it the other way, its just Collingwood have a chip on there shoulder in regards to Brisbane.

No, but I believe anyone that fractures another players cheekbone (accidently or otherwise) with his fist should be deemed reckless and duly penalised.

And a very reasonable state given the favouritism given to Brisbane through all spheres of the AFL.

If the high tackle was reckless, eg he could have tackled him legally but chose to go high, then I would favour a report. A high tackle can lead to very serious injury. Under your philosophy a player can get away with murder if the circumstances are right.

Lynch was innocent, he was clearly attempting to punch the ball. Accidents DO happen you know. Not every incident where a player is injured is reportable.
Not that I wish injury to any player but I would love to see your take on it if it happened to a Hawthorn player.

A player missed a GF because accidental contact that injures a player is reportable and if it is reckless it is suspendable.

You don't need 'intent' to be booked. It is the action and not the motive that must be judged. The action clearly shows Lynch making forcefull contact to wakelin's head with his fist.

Bloody outrageous.

I was trying to swat a bee.

If you watch the replay really closely, you'll notice that there was a bee on Wakelin's face, and I was actually doing him a favour by trying to swat it.

Colless stated that Lynch's action was neither reckless nor was it done with a swinging arm.

A lot of bleating over inaccurate facts. Accidents do occur and players are injured in innocent situations. There was even some twit on SEN today complaining that Rocca's incident was not as severe as Lynch's. Although what happened to Wakelin is unfortunate, these things occur.

It seems the Brisbane chip grows larger on the Collingwood shoulder.

So you don't mind players whacking each other in the head if the ball is in the vicinity?

The rules state that you can not make contact to another players head. End of story. Lynch not only made contact, he nearly knocked Wakelin out and fractured his cheekbone in the process.

Should have got at least 2 weeks.

Wakelin was so hurt, that he played another quarter and a half. Good decision at last.

I've got no love for Lynch but I'm glad he got off. Time they stopped trying to manufacture incidents & analyse every frame until they find something. Looked bad in slow-mo but real time shows it was accidental.

If Lynch got found guilty it would bring into serious question how the hell Lloyd got of on appeal. It was a same to see Wakelin injured, but then again Primus did his knee and looking at it you can't even tell how.

Footy is a physical contact sport, not netball so if you don't like seeing your players get injured...what some sh1t sport like basketball.

pretty poor spoil

Lynch had no chance of reaching the ball. At best it was a well disguised make him earn type of spoil.

Unsurprised by the descion. Brisbane are the protected species, poor little northers, they and their supporters are such fickle and fragile things, they need to nutured and given all the breaks.

They arnt tough or good enough to stand on their own foot, protect them, extend them every favour for they are strugggling in their hostile climate. Heaven forbid, if they players get treated and paid like everyone else they would be jumping ship, if the mighty brisbane bears were to finsh outside the top 4 their supporters would rip up their memebership and the future of football in the hostile north woul be in jepardary for generations.

True they have won the last three falgs but that was by suprerhuman commitment of the players and just unquestionable superlative management of the club, people down south just dont understand just how fragile all that sucess is. Consistant treatment with the rest of the lague would NOT drag the mightly brisbane bears back to the rest of theleague, it would devaste and destory all football in thenorth for generations, the betterment of the league and unborn football fans everywhere the poor little fragile bears must be carefully nutiured, as the very surivial of australian rules football north of murray would be shattered beyond any hope if playing field was fair.

The loyalty of brisbane fans is asouunding considering the thin knifeedge exsistance that all football north of the murray walks. Truely amazing when you consider many of them recently gone through the tragic loss of their former club, it would be heartless and cruel to expose such fans to the rough and tumble of supporting a club that could well finsh below 5th. These amazing loyal fans , truely lion hearted fans have been through living hell, their club cruely finished off by the evil AFL , gutted , desroyed and all moveable chattels handed off to some cunning AFL love child, who evilly stole the rings off barely cold dead.

Let me guess ....... Collingwood supporter, right?

Lets get real. Lynch made him earn a kick and was clever enough to do this with his eyes on the ball. Comes with experience.

I only watched it on the TV, but I defineately had my anti collingwood goggles on, and my initial reaction was that Lynch was in trouble.

10 years ago, this was not a problem, but now, I reckon it deserved a week.

Re: pretty poor spoil

LOL! Pugsville last time I saw you on here I was under the impression you were off to seak a bit of therapy. Obviously you didn't stay long enough if all your torment is anything to judge by. LOL.

i think the AFL needs to work to eliminate that kind of contact

a swinging arm with a clenched fist coming into a players head from the side is something that we see far to often and in some cases results in some serious injuries

to pies supporters take those blinkers off for a minute and study the incident!
it was a contested situation between 3 players. just b4 lynch went for the spoil lynch and presti,s body,s collided therfore pulling back lynch,s body far enough for his fist to contact wakelins head.
to say cloke was robbed is total crap.both different situations.one couldnt have been avoided and the other could have been.

cheers!

Thats the way I saw it too. If Presti hadn't been there then Lynch would have spoilt the ball instead of Wakes head.

Blame Presti for Wake's cheekbone.

Lynch was held and/or caught out of position and then whacked Wakelin in the side of the head.

What the tribunal should do is bring in lie detectors.

Tribunal. "Player Lynch. Do you intend to strike player Wakelin in the back of the head?"

Lynch. "No."

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
