Spud should have known better than to touch him. I just hate players that try to milk a free by taking a blatant dive. Dunn tried the same trick in the 1st 1/4 but the ump just ignored him.

That sort of crap is why Alwyn Davey is my most hated player in the AFL.

Showed a lack of class by getting in Firrito's face straight after it. Pretty much told everyone what a fluke it was. A good player would have just got on with it, knowing that he could do something of a similar quality some other time.

Pretty sure the coach would prefer him to have (not 'to of') grabbed the ball and shot out a handpass to a team-mate, if he didn't have time to kick it. Had he gathered the loose ball, even if he got tackled before he could dispose of it, he might have drawn a free (in the back, high contact), or at least force a ball-up, lock it in in the forward 50.

Really, it was a crap effort, the lowest-percentage option he could have chosen.

You forgot Pearce running goal from the wing, dodging three players on the way and then slotting a left foot goal from the wrong side for a left footer. IMO that was even better.

I was critical of Harvey when he used to do it, several years ago. I've been very critical of Lindsay Thomas doing it for the last few years.

I hate watching hacks like Alwyn Davey and Lynden Dunn do it, hate watching otherwise-admirable stars like Riewoldt and Davey do it.

Pearce's should have been goal of the year. Motlops would have been a close second. Adem Yze kicked a similar goal from the other pocket and didn't even get nominated because Dustin Fletcher torped one from 60 and everyone blew their load. Lloyd's would have struggled to make my top 10.

Dunn can exaggerate things at times but Firrito definitely threw him to the ground by his jumper. Very dumb move by an experienced player. Dunn tried to suck him in and it worked wonders. I just wished he slotted the goal to really rub it in.

A goal is a goal. If you want to talk about crap efforts, look at Firrito not being able to handle some lip service afterwards.
If some young NM player kicked it you'd probably be crapping on about how skilled and how Brad Scott has filled them with confidence.

It was a great goal and awesome to watch, puts a smile on your face, but not GOTY. Buddy has it wrapped up.
