I noticed an article recently celebrating the fact that after a year with injury, Razor Ray will be returning this year. I am confident that we will go close to the Flag this year - but this news will not help.

I'm sure somebody on this board can organise an *accident* somewhere surely?

In all honesty though is it possible for a club to request that a certain umpire doesn't referee their matches?

I actually thought, after that Fremantle game 2 years ago at the SCG, that Colless must have told the AFL " we do not want him for any swans games".

Sadly, he was only injured - presumably the mirror fell on him as we was practising free kick gestures, naked, in his living room. With the other umpires.

that's his anti swans satanic ritual. the footy gods responded last year, lets hope he learned his lesson.

in seriousness, he's utterly hopeless as an umpire. i hate the fact that commentators refer to him as razor ray, i hate the fact that he has a public profile. i hope the league get him to tone i5 down. as far as i'm concerned, umpires should officiate the game fairly, and apart from that they should shut the **** up

Umpires do not referee they officiate

So true.
Absolute prima Donna. I've heard Brereton and other lugs laughing as he comes charging in like Barishnykov to give a baffling free kick in front. Gameday is about the players, not these frauds playing tough guys like politicians.

Is it ok to injury troll umpires? If so, then I hope Ray does two ACLs, breaks his leg, arm and hip and is concussed several times, all before the start of the AFL season, and is therefore unable to officiate over any Swans games ever again.

If it's not okay to say these things, please let me know and I shall consider toning it down a bit.

Played footy against him in the juniors in Canberra.
Never stopped talking about himself and his football abilities.
I think he stopped growing at about the age of 13 and he still needs a booster seat when he drives.

For the record he was a Hawthorn supporter growing up.

Wow... didn't think I could dislike the little fella any more than I already do ... but....

not the least bit surprised by that, seems to think he's the star of the show with the way he carries on. seems to think he's above the players.

where can we complain about his officiating ? if we get enough people to contact the afl perhaps they'll look into it?

ray stands out because he is really obnoxious but I think the umpires are too obvious in the modern game. They seem to want to be in the spotlight not in the background. A good umpire is one that nobody notices. then when someone asks what the umpiring was like you can say, must have been good I didn't notice them. The umpires these days also seem to have control issues too, I have to be boss and I have to be obnoxious about it. Christ why can't they just umpire not want to be noticed or bloody Adolph.

I think Razor Ray is just peachy. I'm sorry that some fans don't understand him or are jealous of his umpiring abilities. It's clear to me he could have been a star had he chosen to be a player. I know all the Swans players think so. He's like a father to them. Strict but scrupulously fair and only having the players' welfare in mind. I only wish other umpires could rise to his fine example.

(Are you reading this Ray ?)

As long as it's done in good spirit... complaining about the umps or refs has been a past time of many a sports fan for decades, so that's not likely to change soon. Humour is fine, but if we think something is in poor taste, has the potential to offend others, or is abusive, we'll delete it, and if it's not obvious why, we'll let you know. As a general rule, if you wouldn't want your kids to hear it at the footy, don't post it.

Great, in that case...

All the Essendon team will be banned by ASADA & WADA for 12 months making them play all the rookies and rely on the Aus Kick squad. Essendon under this pressure ask Thompson, Vander Haar, Madden, Watson senior & Coleman to slip on the jumper, only to realise Coleman has been dead since 1973. They steal Coleman's body and have a Catholic priest do a raising from the dead that is reasonably successful and Coleman lines up at FF. Unfortunately as I say the raising was reasonably successful, they somehow lost one of his legs in the process. Derek Kickett agrees to coach the side but only on the condition he can have all the players he played with in the '80's whipped on a regular basis. He is furious Sheedy isn't there. The first week in and Vaner Haar fails a sobriety test and is given a three year ban after taking out most of the Collingwood team on Anzac day, someone mentioned enemy too loud. Kickett agreed it wasn't much of a match but "did you see the fight?" Essendon finishes way bottom and the AFL looks at a two tier league, division one & two and poor old Bombers look to be in division two.
