Your reasoning is the deaths FINALLY settled down after people had there 2nd or 3rd booster shots which werent even developed for the new dominant strain. Only this month has an Omicron designed vaccine been released.

The % of boosted people isn't at the same level as those that got the first few doses but it had the most profound result.

An uncle died a couple of weeks ago, went down with covid after a short flight interstate. He was in his senior years with an underlying condition that might have killed him eventually but it was covid that hospitalised him and where it all ended. Didn't get his boosters.

I'm talking US, the graph I re-posted. End of the graph, most of 2022. After a spike around the start of the year there has clearly been a more sustained period of lower deaths than at any time previously.

Australia is not particularly useful as an example because a hard lockdown is always going to be more effective than even the best vaccine in limiting deaths.
