This bloke is a real piece of work. He has been called out for his depiction of African Australians several times this year and now he has decided to double down with his cartoon of Serena Williams yesterday. It is such an incredibly offensive work that I wouldn't even consider posting it here. Most of us know that the AFL invests much time and money into our indigenous community and prides itself as being at the forefront in this work and its indigenous players. I can only imagine how they would feel about this.

The cartoon has gained international attention and the subsequent ire for it's depiction of Williams. We all know that the AFL is extremely risk averse when it comes to social issues but I think it should bin Knights (which is exactly where he belongs) and look elsewhere for the premiership poster. If the AFL stays quiet as usual and does nothing as expected then I would suggest if your team makes the GF you should lobby your club that it seek to have the poster drawn by someone else. It is a test of where we are at, not just in the football community, but as a country.

What is wrong with the cartoon drawn by him in relation to Serena Williams? What is so offensive?

Edit: Apart from drawing a white opponent with blonde hair, but then again had anyone heard of the opponent before she won the US open, easy mistake. He would regret not drawing the opponent correctly.

Cool suggestion, and not a bad sook, 7/10 with possibility for 10/10 if you add crying emojis.

If someones team makes the GF and one of the key things they're worried about is who is drawing the premiership poster then they've got issues.

This is one of the worst posts I've seen on bigfooty. And I've seen some bad ones

It relies on a handful of old-school racist tropes. The face, in particular. The giant lips and mouth.

That said, I'm not sure what an acceptable caricature would look like.

skynews-serena-williams-us-open_4415660.jpg Big frizzy hair, big lips, everyone knows she has a big rump and the outfit matches. but yes, ITS RACIST!!!!!!!!

I may be ignorant, can someone explain why it’s racist?

The OP thinks it’s that offencive he/she won’t post here?

Everyone from JK Rowling to Ben Simmons have gone in on him.

Can't really see the problem tbh.

She is black, she has frizzy hair, she is big and always has been. She threw a major tantrum bringing up all sorts of irrelevant shit and her coach ended up admitting to coaching.

Where's the issue?

Can you simply just not caricature a black person now?

Main problem with the comic is Osaka is portrayed as a skinny white girl, when she's Japenese/Caribbean.

Everything else is accurate, Serena ruined the event and her camp cheated.
The umpire, Carlos Ramos, is also from Portugal. So he really hasn't cared about the background characters.

It is a Political Cartoon. It was meant to do this. Cause discussion. I am not going to get into this whole debate. We all know where it is going. It is racist, what is free speech, yadda yadda yadda.

Having said that I would have drawn the lips differently if I were him to give less fuel for the shit storm.

Also predicting this post may be taken down by the Hasselhoff reaper.
