1-Kicking the winning Goal in the wet V Essendon who he might end up with ironically!

I'm pretty dissapointed to see Willo go, he held our forward line up when we had no one else to go to. Also, I reckon pick 9 should have been enough.
But I suppose with Dowler looking like he could be decent playing for the scum is probably a better option for him. Good luck Willo.

Willo, good luck.

Will miss you as everytime I saw you run on the field I knew that the Hawks will have a good day. You are one of the best sharpshooters I've seen in all the years and I'm sure the Hawks will miss you in those weird moments of a game, when the wind is still, but there's Willo Magic.

devastated. My favorite player. My guernsey number. My powerball number...

Really upset and saddened to see him leave. He was the one shining light through the dark times.

Watched his GF performance last night and was ultra proud of his effort.

So very very sad right now. Definitely my favorite moment was him and Dewy v 3 Cats in the 3rd qtr... loved "the choke"... loved his mark v the Bummers and goal in the wet. Loved his shotgun.

I'll miss that little fella like crazy. #6 has a big piece of my heart.

Like the others on here Willo, you will always be a Hawk, playing in the wrong colours. You were our shining star through all those dark years.'That goal you kicked in the GF will always be a highlight of the 2008 GF..All the best, and good luck for the future. One thing that no one can take away from you is that Medallion hanging round your neck, the GF medal. We will miss you.. Just miss a few goals when you play us, ok??? lol

Grand final, prelim, Essendon in wet, turning it on in average times with the stand out being the Melbourne game at the MCG (kicked 8 from memory) and the Geelong John Barker game.

Am teary as i feel gutted now that i know the deal is done and Willo won't play for us next year.

He was one of our better players in our dark days. He was the highest goal kicker before Buddy & Roughie came along.

The Mark Williams & Stuart Dew tussle against a few cats defenders in last years GF that ended with a slight hint of a shotgun when he was laying face down on the ground after he kicked truly

Agree with all said above.

Was the only hope up forward during the crap years, and put a lot into the club. He has the unique distinction of playing in a Premiership for Box Hill too - i think in 2001.

I am disappointed we let him go, but I'm glad he'll get more supply in his new role. Realistically we just didn't kick it to him that often any more, so I hope he makes the most of the opportunity.

Thanks for everything Willo. I rate your entire finals series (not the just hte GF) very highly, and hope you do well at Essendon.

Agree wholeheartedly that he doesn't deserve to be booed.

Saw him at the casino a few months later- had to tell him I wore the number 6 at the G, he loved it. Good bloke.

From what I heard he wasn't always happy playing third fiddle to Buddy and Rough so probably is fairly happy to be moving on to where he will once again be the go to forward.

That Essendon goal in the wet was great. I was there with three Essendon-mad mates, and just loved it.

Loved his entire finals series in 08, not just the GF.

I also have memories of a few passages of play just when we were starting to come good where Robby Cambell, Sammy, Sewell and Hodgey would combine and hit him lace out on the chest within about six seconds of the ball being bounced. That was the type of play that showed we were on the way.

Very glad he was there for the 08 Premiership.

definatly his performance in the grand final with dew i cant believe where giving him up im absoultly and i didnt think i would be because although i love him hes not in my top 5 players, but to be honesst im glad its him and not brownie, still dont think burgers is worth him

Fav moment when he decided to put the gun in the holster and decided to chop some wood after kicking a goal.

Was a real talent when the sole forward.

I know how much Robbo loves Willow and the fact he got you to Essendon will be to play a mentoring role to the young indigenous players off the ground.

My highlight: Willo's great grab in Round 5 last year against Brisbane right in the goal square.

I love how he stood very tall for a short guy. Gave me hope during the dark times and will be remembered as one of our building blocks to our success last year. Love your work Willo and your cheeky gestures. Good luck to you and the family, you will always be a Hawthorn Premier in my eyes!

The greatest ever.

That goal will forever give me goosebumps. You knew we were on top when that happened - I was lucky enough to be watching from that pocket. That whole area right round to the other point post went beserk when he rammed it though.

Seriously sad to lose this guy, maligned by a lot of people here, but his value was unquestionable - at least in my eyes. For anyone that doubted him - take a look at him getting down low to win the hardball in the coaldron of the centre square, 2nd half of grand final day 2008.

In full flight he was an absolute star.

So many highlights to remember, from the first time I saw him pull the shotgun out in the VFL, to the Mark Williams choke.

Always felt confident when the ball was in his hands inside fifty. One of the few guys capable of toweling up Scarlett one on one too.
