The fact that Jock wishes to step down is why I put some names up in my previous post, hoping to get some debate going. Although not too many showed an interest.

I too, do not believe that Reiny is the man for the job. Yes, he is a very knowledgeable footy man and has been a great clubman at Talbot, no doubt!

Not wishing to dump on him, but as you said King, his personality is not to everyone’s taste and I believe the President should be a leader that is well respected, unfortunately I don’t think that can be said for Reiny.

He has stood on far too many toes over the years.

He is also in the ageing bracket.

As far as biting the bullet goes, been there and done that, am also in the ageing bracket. :(
Time for some new blood!
There must be some up and comers out there. What about yourself King?
You are only young and seem to have a very strong passion for the League.

I couldn't commit at this stage due to work. Not sure where I will be located next year.

Newstead in BIG trouble! Can't get a coach, got no money and worst of all can't get a committee together or a president to lead them. Will struggle.

Everyone labelled in Buckos previous post would be great league candidates.

Maxwell Martin might be placed in the ageing bracket by some MCDFL thread posters.
But he's been an enormously loyal and hard-working servant of the league for decades.
In the old days before the era of instant electronic communications many a cadet reporter has stood expectantly on the platforms of the Ballarat and Bendigo Railway Stations.
In would roll the train and the guard or other railways official would hand the lad a brown A4-sized envelope containing Max's carefully typed-up match summaries and previews of MCDFL footy.
The match summaries would be for a midweek paper ---- the previews for a Friday or Saturday edition.
Max never ever missed a deadline.

I have had the good fortune to know Max Martin for many years, and I don’t think anyone could disagree that he is definitely in the ageing bracket.
This comment is not meant to be derogatory to Max, it is just a plain fact of life.

Agreed! Max has been a fantastic contributor to the MCDFL for many, many years and he is a very nice bloke to go with it.

That is one of the main reason’s why he should be looking to hand over the reigns now.

Go out while he is still on top, so to speak.

I would hate to see Max get overturned at an AGM as this would be the ultimate insult to someone who has given so much to the MCDFL and football in general.

The opportunity was last year presented to Max to pass on the job and to go out with some dignity, but he is hanging in there when the job is plainly starting to be too much for him to handle.

Max is very lucky that his wife Pat is there to help. She also does a wonderful job behind the scenes. She posts all of the football & netball results on the League website every Saturday so that the results of the day can be seen early Saturday evenings.

If Max is not willing to hand over to the hub system just yet, perhaps an assistant should be being groomed to take over the role. The knowledge that Max could pass on would be invaluable to any up and comer.

As stated previously, This post is not meant to be derogatory in any way to Max, I would just rather see him go out on his own choice, rather than for it to be a bitter experience for him if he is dumped sometime in the future.

And yes JC2, his journalistic skills are second to none!

Question: Is it true that the MCDFL Clubs do not receive a League dividend at the end of every season?

Ive been told the lexton plains league has a dividend to slice up between there clubs? And to think we have so much more to offer than there league. (imo) On max handing paperwork over to a conductor, isn't that the point of some off the previous posts. The indians used to communicate with smoke signals, early man with carrier pigeons, thank god for technology, now they use mobile phones and wireless internet, thank goodness someone used some forward thinking!

Lexton plains clubs have always got a dividend. Used to be anywhere between $1,000 and $2,000. Could be heaps this year!!!

What happens to the profits in the MCDFL? Doesn’t it go back to the clubs?

This is a good idea.

If the MCDFL was thinking ahead they would have a strategic plan in place. One of the strategies should be to have a timeline job description, with guidelines in place for an incoming secretary.

Ray Fisher was similar to Max in his role at the Lexton League.(was there forever) Unfortunately Ray passed away and took a lot of info with him as it was all stored in his brain.

This made the job very difficult for the incoming secretary who had to learn the role as he went, with no guidance from one who knew.

The netball side of the league almost have to beg for every dollar that is put their way let alone any thought of a league dividend. The MCDFL hand out approx $8000 in free entries during the final series. This along with very limited sponsorship being attracted to the league leaves little scope for a league dividend.
I read on the Bendigo thread where clubs in that league look like receiving a dividend of $5000. Also interested to read the article in Friday's Ady where it looks like the LPFL clubs will receive a record dividend this year.
I know the Avoca Football Netball club suggested that all attending the finals, pay entry into the game with a view to handing out a dividend to all clubs at the end of the season.
Reiny G who opposses this idea of charging entry fee to participating players suggested to Avoca that the league give the free entry tickets to the club and give the club the choice of selling them to the players in order to raise a league dividend that way,
It will be interesting times ahead should Reingold be voted in as league president come Wed night.

As stated before, hopefully this will not happen.

Another reason for him not to be appointed (IMO). The infamous cocking of the leg and farting at a league meeting. Saying “that is what I think of the netball!”

Not a good image for a League President!

Lexton Plains have got it right with the netball, treating them equally and they are administered by the Footy board. Many a footy club has picked up some good footballers that followed a netballer to their club.

Some more footy news which has been around a while but hasn't been posted on here yet....

John Hind has accepted an assistant coach role at Rovers for some good coin. This indicates to me that Brad Ross is now definately heading to Brook as this was his other option so I'm led to believe. If Hindy gets himself fit he could still be very handy.

Also heard the Weatherly to Brook rumour again late last week! Would be a massive coup for the club if true.

Brad Ross to Brook is a cold hard fact. He has already informed his former club.

Brook could not afford Weatherly. He could command $1k+ if the reported amount for Chipper was true.

Rovers have been throwing some money around by the sounds of things. Have heard they are chasing Casey Lang from Brook and Forde from Bushy.

Hey Bucko, Was told tonight that the MCDFL have been officially approached by the Bendigo Hub.

I would have thought Ballarat was the obvious choice. All the good juniors go to the Rebels for training and the Bendigo Leagues are more settled. The Heathcote and Loddon Valley League are very strong at the moment and in no need of change.

In comparison the Ballarat Leagues are in need of reshaping. Lexton and Natte won't survive much longer in that League with Carngham-Linton, Skipton and Rokewood being as strong as they are. Natte's had their fun for 3 years but I can't see them staying in the top 3. Those 2 teams should be encouraged into the MCDFL which seems that the Ballarat Hub would be a smarter idea. There is still talk of the CHFL and LPFL merge and the MCDFL could really benefit from being in that Hub.

We already know how much money has gone into the LPFL from the many posts previous to this. They would do a great job. And if we have to join one Hub, surely the Ballarat one is the better choice.

Spot on ETG. I hope you are in a position to get to the MCDFL annual meeting on Wed 12th Dec at the Rovers clubrooms to put this point of view forward. If not get into some other ears if possible and do some intense lobbying. The MCDFL has huge potential to be one of the best league's going around. At present it all seems to be going on around us.
What are your thoughts Lunch Time Matinee? I'm not too sure which club you are aligned with but from your posts you seem to be a person of substance.

Yeah your right just threw it out there. They are chasing Lang apparently.

fair enuf. really haven't seen much of lang, maybe not at all. is he as good as i hear?

If he can kick and handball a sherrin as well as he can bowl a kookaburra, he must have something going for him! (ill never forget that front foot pull shot Hando played against him 12 months or so ago, cleared everything in sight!)

Probably a bit of both Crank. Would it be Carisbrook? Thought I might have got a bit of input from others around the league who have some clout prior to the annual meeting. Usually get to the meeting and the course for the MCDFL for the forthcoming season has already been set.
