Does anyone know what time Peel Thunder start? Would love to know how the other lads do

I think we’ve shown that meek and Darcy in the same side won’t work against good teams. Intercepting/rebound defenders kill the resting ruck.

I don’t know. I feel like together they would be overall more effective. Meek seems like he’s on the verge of a breakout year, especially if his marking has improved. Darcy has shown he’s as good a lead up tall forward as anyone we’ve got.

I was thinking for a moment that it would be a decision made on the opposition we are facing week to week on whether Meek gets a game to match up on the second brute ruck, but the longer I think about it I would prefer that playing Meek and Darcy forces the opposition to field an extra ruck so we don't dominate so hard out of the middle during their second ruck that it costs them the game.

There’s a lot of talk about Sturt being in our best 22 & should be a certain starter in our starting 6 up forward, but he has to come out & prove himself first & I don’t think he will be gifted a game without doing so.

No doubt he’s shown glimpses in the few games he’s played for Freo & at WAFL level, but nows the time for him to string some games together as there are certainly a few different ways we can structure our forward line now.
I reckon PEEL will be throwing up some big scores with Sturt, Treacy and Amiss playing down there.

Brodie looked like a bigger Serong with some arguably worse ball use by foot, including some snaps at goal. His clearances and best choice handball, as opposed to first option handball, lead directly to creating space and goals.

A player like Brodie will open the game up with that handball and clearance game. It will make guys like Clark, O'Driscoll, Wilson and Henry look like jets breaking the lines then guys like Sturt and Frederick beating opposition back to goal.

Yeah I think with our midfielders and half backs contributing goals to the small and medium forwards, we’re not so beholden to structuring around the tall forwards. If we are winning the ball from most ruck contests, we dictate the game.

Exactly, it's no good for the opposition to play the extra runner when they break even with us when it's their #1 against Darcy but when they put their #2 in there Meek sets up +2 goals per quarter.

It all depends on Meek marking the ball. If Darcy and Meek are running the likes of Rory O'Brien around all game we can work them over.

Haha, from yesterday, I’m not sure if you can say ‘arguably worse by foot’. Seemed a pretty massive difference, but yes, I like Brodie as the 2nd choice ground ball vacuum coming off the bench

Meek marking is the key to making it work when he’s not in the ruck. Good signs yesterday.

I thought Meek was pretty good yesterday but I am really not a fan of both Darcy/Meek playing in the same side. Good backup to have though.
Yeah, it’s a good problem to have I suppose. Meek is not a fwd/ruck and no one can really say we’ve seen much of anything to suggest he could be. He is definitely a league average to decent first choice ruck who is is unfortunately stuck behind a 23 year old top 2 ruck.

I’ll be stunned if we manage to keep him

Question is, would you prefer Darcy and Meek and Lobb’s trade currency or Darcy and Lobb with Meeks trade currency? I’d prefer to keep Meek especially if Lobb has packed his bags

Round 17 V NM 2020
Hogan 4
Tabs 3
Walters 3
Schultz 3
Lobb 1
Darcy 1

We were a dangerous forward line with Hogan.

Shame he couldn't get his shizen together. A fit Hogan and we'd be top 4 material.
We were/are a dangerous forward line playing witches hats! North were terrible that day

Yeah, that forward line has had a weird rebuld.

On paper, Bennell, Hogan, McCarthy, Matera and Kersten looks pretty good.

In reality, it sucks.
They all came cheap for a reason.

It's like we went to JB Hi-Fi, spent $25 on 5 DVDs from the bargain bin and then were amazed when all the movies were shit
