That kick from Meek was critical - the wce player rolled off thinking they could get across and cut it off. As it turned out, clean kick with the lead up mark and it split open tue forward 50. But yup, Brodie’s handball and taking the hit was where it all started

On Meek - was impressed, developing nicely. I think he also showed up to the Brayshaw xmas 100x100?

Real question - how much value will next weeks games against wce of value to us?

I think next week is incredibly valuable for us. We’ve got 5 blokes to come in who have all been AA or Doig Medalists (3 of them both) but none of them are genuinely super quick. I think there’s a bit of work to do yet to find the right balance of experience, skill and pace to execute our game plan the way we did on Friday. I also think the last wing spot in particular is still up for grabs and this is crucial to how we want to play. My money is now on a round 1 debut for Noddy. Clearly Henry has earned dibs on the other wing.

Interesting on Noddy - happy he’s now putting himself in the mix, has to be fighting for that spot with Acres and / or Aish for that defensive wing role

I like his versatility to go inside mid plus his attack on the ball and/or ball carrier. To mine he offers so much more than Acres.

I like Aish on the bench as he has a unique skill set in that he can play wing, clearance mid and small lockdown defender. He’s also a player I want with the ball in his hands late in a close game because he makes good decisions under pressure.

Luckily we will have experienced players out there. Simpson will be burning the midnight oil on our plays.
The guys with run will be closely watched, so it will be interesting to see how we respond to these tactics.
Back in 2015 we smashed them in the first Derby, by the second they had worked us out.
A free flowing game they lose, by plenty. So let’s hope the boys are ready for the attention.
A grinding win would be better for the season, rather than witches hats.

We’re talking about five ins for next week but I’d think Aish and maybe Treacy will at least be given minutes. Looking at 6-7 changes at least imo.
Interesting who gets dropped.

Amazing the selection head aches when the injured list is short.

Meanwhile we have Tabs and Lobb dropping basic marks in the F50
We often read on here the suggestion that training runs and practice matches get broadcast in some form. Fans are hungry beasts. But I can see why clubs are less supportive.

As mature players, Taberner and Lobb will play similarly to how they have in the past. Coaching structures are the way for those two to be more productive.

Practice game.
- Great ball movement, always looks better when the skill execution matches the gameplan and instruction/ setup.

- Clarke is a jet, played exactly like he did at Claremont and underage…. Quick, has a tank, repeat efforts to get into space - game sense with a footy brain.
Those who criticised he trade to our club have no f….. idea.

- Frederick, Chapman and Young - to a lesser extent Brodie - brilliant

It’s Clark, enjoy your ban

It looked like there was better structure around then at the drop of the ball, for when they stuffed up. That will be the big improvement to our forward line

I think the positives have been covered in detail - lots to be happy with without getting too carried away.

Just finished watching the replay and I think Colyer and Wilson are two players that had pretty different outcomes from the game.

While Colyer did a few nice things and kicked a couple of goals his turnovers by hand and poor kicking at times, unfortunately, stood out for me. Maybe it was just that the standard of disposal was generally pretty high but he had a few clear examples where he was the last link in the chain that would have released a player out the back or resulted in a shot on goal but he failed to execute.

I'm generally a big Trav fan, and I do like him in the team, but I don't think he starts Rd 1 on the back of his performance on Friday.

At the other end of the scale for me was Wilson. He looked to be playing within his limitations in a way that he has struggled with in the past. He didn't bomb the ball to space once as far as I could do, but did manage some really nice outlet kicks and created some overlap run. Maybe Clark joining the squad has him worried about his spot but either way he looks like excellent depth based on the one game.

There were several really quick run down tackles and I was shocked every time I saw Wilson was the one responsible. Playing with some desperation.

Boy had a shocker last year through injuries which then effected his fitness. He is a better player than last year..

Agree on Aish but where's he at? Didn't play Friday and wasn't mentioned by JL for next week.

Depth is so strong ATM, you can make a case for insert players name.
Guys like NOD, Walker, Aish, Worner, Sturt, Erasmus, it just keeps going 😀
On a side note who will get the most support down at Freo oval?

That may be true but is he really best 22 right now? I don't think he is.

Aish is somewhat underrated.

Doesn’t look much, but weekly seems to complete each mission given to him. Looks frail, but doesn’t seem to shirk a contest.
