He’s a hard worker, that will give you 100% and takes his opportunities in front of goals, kicked over 60 goals combined over the last 2 years.

It’s not as if he’s a high pressure forward as well, with below average tackling stats.

With the lack of entries expected into the Eagles F50, I think he’s really going to struggle.

Made it up or was it fed to him by Carlton? It seems strange that no Carlton fans are concerned at losing him when he was your 3rd best forward? The cap squeeze must be big at Carlton.

Where are you getting this from? Most of us are sad to see him go.
Not a star, but our most consistent small the past 2 years. Maybe due to injuries, but 60 goals in 41 games isn't anything to be sneezed at, especially in a top 8 side next to 2x Coleman medalists.
I honestly think it was just an unfortunate series of events for him. Coming out of contract at the wrong time where list spots and cap space are being planned for other areas.

I could imagine that he might've been asking for around $500k, which normally might not be unreasonable for his output, but we have to stick to our list profile that has likely been planned for a few years in advance and looking towards the next few years as well.
It's a bit of a risky move by Blues to let him go with Fogarty and Fantasia not hitting the scoreboard. Durdin dropping away in form and staying healthy. Motlop struggling to stay healthy and Moir still being largely unknown. Martin being delisted.

Anyway, best of luck to Matt. Sad to see him go.

Remember when Hawks traded Mark Williams to the Done for a 1st rounder? This deal screams a bit of that.

Small forwards who only kick 1.5 goals per game and do nothing else are going quickly out of fashion.

Owies was unwanted - Blues showed him the door. They could have got him with a pick in the 40s or 50s. He was the literal steak knives. Zero need to include him in that deal.

Blues didnt even want his 1 year offer.

So 3 became 12 and Baker, when they could have had 3 and our 14 for Barrass meaning having 3 and Baker. There will now be a late F1 at some point assuming Barrass gets traded.

And after being reamed, some Eagles still think thry are getting 2 x F1 for Barrass. Id say 2 x F2 is more likely.

Actually think Matt could do OK at the Eagles over the next few years. I am not a fan but he is all heart and I wish him well out west.

Carlton needed to move past him but I do think he'll kick plenty of goals for the Eagles.

14 could have gone to Tigers for Baker.

The issue is Owies worth. There’s no world 12 and Owies is worth 3.

This. Imo the only mistake they made was giving up 14 for Baker

The issue is Owies worth. There’s no world 12 and Owies is worth 3.

That's because that was NOT the deal!
You say to look at it in it's entirety, then ignore pick 14 from the Blues as part of the deal for 3.
IT WAS NOT 12 & OWIES FOR 3...
WC can still get a good deal for Barrass, then package up 12 and the Barrass pick to try and move up the order if they want.
Or try to get Richmond or North's future 1st. Go into the next draft with 2 x top 5 picks before the Tassie drafts.
