The club did want to keep it in house while investigating but Mifsud and AFL leaked story to the Melbourne media on Thursday after Crows were told Wednesday - then on Friday AD CEO goes on radio with full on rant

Apparently melbourne went looking for mifsud and couldn't get hold of him, much like triggy couldn't. Result was the same, it blew up on the media.

Davey is emphatic he never spoke to Mifsud about a "supposed meeting....

Your goose is cooked Jason Mifsud...time to go...for once do the honourable thing and insist the AFL accept your resignation this time!!

Robbo's article...

Melbourne's popular veteran was emphatic last night, according to the club, that he had not spoken to Mifsud about a supposed meeting.
So emphatic that Davey offered to put up all of Melbourne's indigenous players - believed to be five - to the media in an all-in press conference.

The AFL yesterday steadfastly refused to name Mifsud's source who, incidentally, told Mifsud that Neeld had had individual meetings with non-indigenous players and met the indigenous players in a group situation.
Davey and the Demons are furious with the assertion.

They accuse Mifsud of making up the story. They accuse him of not investigating the allegations made at the infamous AFL executive meeting three weeks ago. And they accuse him of mismanagement of the situation.
The AFL, meanwhile, stands firm.

My initial instinct with Jason Mifsud was that he is dodgy. This is a bloke that has used the media and gossip to solve his problems. These problems should have been managed in-house by the AFL. He would not appear to be a man of great integrity.

However, there is part of me that believes that Jason might be frustrated with AFL bureaucracy that is likely to be unsupportive of Indigenous people. He might be so frustrated with the MFC racism that his only solution was to chat to a mate, who then leaked his conversation onto a blog. It was likely that the AFL was aware of racism at the MFC but weren’t willing to take any real action, which annoyed Jason to no end. Likewise, he might have been so frustrated with the Matt Rendell situation that he used the media as a tool to help solve this problem.

Has Jason Mifsud done wrong or is it the AFL that is finally being challenged internally about its racist/ culturally paternalistic policies? I bet the AFL is running scared too; because if they sack him he will claim unfair dismissal and workplace harassment, which may reveal the true state of racism in Aussie Rules!

And let's not forget that mifsud went missing for 36 hours after Trigg was told. Trigg couldn't get hold of him until AFTER he went public!

Jadr, you'll need some more string to draw that bow back.

Especially since the Aboriginal players of Melbourne aren't backing him up and are furious with him. If anything the Afl has shown that they are the not racist to the point of burning at the stake anyone who says aything even slightly controversial.

That is just plain crap. He was about as willing to resign as you are to chop of your hand. The guy is not sipping pina colada's enjoying retirement mate, I will guarantee you that

But you can appreciate that its a very logical question to ask from people without intimate knowledge of the guy.

Even if this did not impact his decision making, were his comments indicative of a change in performance or attitude towards his role recently, that made the board more accepting of letting him go?

It may have had nothing to do with it, but its far from an unreasonable question.

From today's HeraldSun:

"It was an unacceptable conversation, notwithstanding the fact it was not supposed to appear in the public domain," Demetriou said.

Demetriou said that Mifsud had offered his resignation but that it had been refused. '

Quite right Vlad, everyone deserves a second (third?) chance. How about a bit of consistency, you tosser. Perhaps afraid of being labelled racist if he had accepted Misfit's resignation?

I have so much contempt for Mifsud that I now Adblock his image whenever his mug comes up on my browser.

His position is untenable. Key aboriginal figures are coming out and saying that AFL clubs and indigenous players cannot trust him.

Demetriou is an idiot of the highest order, only to be outdone by Mifsud.

He has been using the media in some bizarre way and it has now backfired. None of these conversations, Rendell's or the other one (if it even existed), should have been dealt with in public through the media. He makes these assertions and then he doesn't speak with the people who he is making them about. Rendell couldn't get in touch with him for a conversation, Aaron Davey can't get in touch with him for a conversation. He's a complete and utter fool, and so is Demetriou.

And then just makes some babbling non-coherent statement on the MaAuntIsCrook show without giving anyone the opportunity to challenge him on his assertions.

I seriously can't believe that Vlad is saying shit like this only 2 weeks after the Rendell fiasco. Does he have the memory of a goldfish or does he just assume that everyone else does?

You are aware that Trigg spoke to Rendell, who confirmed that the conversation between himself, Mifsud & Fahour was exactly as Mifsud reported it to Trigg?

Trigg had no choice and this latest development doesn't change that. Mifsud has been proven to be a liar in the latest case, but the facts of the Rendell incident are not now, nor have they ever been, in question.

What false information? Rendell admitted his guilt.

Trigg acted on the information he had available to him at the time - and the veracity of that information has never been challenged and is not in doubt even following Mifsud's latest act of stupidity.

Probably because he didn't **** up? Vlad made it abundantly clear that the offender had to lose his job. Trigg had no choice but to comply.

I know you dont get to listen to 5aa in Canberra so I understand why you haven't got all the facts. When Trigg was questioned as why Rendell was given the flick, he said it wasn't just what Rendell said that was the issue, it was his TONE..... So after 6 weeks, Trigg made a decision on Rendells future based on Misfuds memory of how he didnt like Rendells tone!

Would you make a decision on anyones future based on Misfuds version of events from 6 weeks ago that weren't recorded nor documented?

Come on Vader, be real...

from the Dean Rioli story:

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/ipad/...-says-dean-rioli/story-fn76njus-1226317968773

"My experiences with a lot of clubs and people in Victoria is they don't have a lot to do with indigenous people from remote communities," Rioli said.
"They are uneducated and some of the questions they ask might seem racist, but I have been asked some of those questions and I don't run to the media and yell foul play.
"It was my role to educate these people and work on answering those questions the best I could so they got a better understanding so they never brought it up with anyone else.
"I think with the whole Rendell thing, yes, it was what a lot of clubs are thinking and working around, but it is an issue he should have dealt with personally with Rendell."

No Dean, sack first, then counsel, then ask questions is the AFL way

What an incredible can of worms that have been opened with this latest revelation. It is obvious that Misfud's position is untenable. I think the club presidents will be talking together & I wouldn't be surpirsed that they come to the conclusion that Vlad has lost the confidence of the clubs & that his position is also untenable.
Still lots of water to run under the bridge.
Who needs enemies when you have friends like Grant Thomas :D

Are you even allowed to "refuse" a resignation? How ridiculous.

I was busy when all this broke yesterday and only just caught up on it. What an absolute mess.

The thing I'm most afraid of now is that this will just disappear, again. There will be no repercussions towards Misfud, it will never be mentioned by the AFL again. The only outcome will be some kind of silent knifing of Thomas at some stage in the future. I hope the MFC, and media identities, and the public, refuse to let this issue die. The AFL needs to be held to account here.

The double standard here are an absolute disgrace.
