The rules only state deals can't be made, not that conversations can't be had.Remember that time Adelaide got investigated for Betts deal because Malthouse said the Crows had spoken to Betts before he was out of contract?
No deal was done with Adelaide. So why were they investigated but in this instance Geelong isn't?The rules only state deals can't be made, not that conversations can't be had.
You are also talking 10 years ago, things have changed. No deal was done with Adelaide. So why were they investigated but in this instance Geelong isn't?
Because somebody would need to make a complaint (like Malthouse) for there to be an investigation. No deal was done with Adelaide. So why were they investigated but in this instance Geelong isn't?
Must be why the Clayton Oliver stuff fell through. Not sure Cotton On are after a mug like that wearing their clothes. Could be tough for Geelong to pay this man outside the cap.
And an undisclosed property
Apparently, Rowell asked Suns for permission to speak to Cats and it was granted (similar to Ainsworth last year).
Who leaked the info to Cleary and why?
What do you offer Cats (to Suns )?

They just do it so well, Geelong.
While the league is clamouring over a potential Harley Reid decision, and the Perth clubs are jumping over themselves for Chad Warner, they are strategically working on Rowell, who has gone under the radar somewhat.
It was very well known in footy circles that his family wanted him in Victoria after his first contract at the suns. He has stayed a lot longer than most initially thought, probably due to his lack of footy across his first couple of seasons.
Geelong obviously now the front runner, but Collingwood will still be in the hunt.

I reckon the Pies are reuniting the Oakleigh crew.

He did play juniors with one or both of the Daicos boys?
That's exactly what I would expect. I prefer top 10 pick involvedthen we would probably offer our 25 and 26 r1s with whatever picks mixed around as needed.

As per today's article in Herald, Rowell put talks on hold, it's upto Suns to convince him, Suns 2025 success/failure will be an important factor, Dimma is his biggest fan, Suns very confident he stays.
You better win, Dimma.
Call me crazy but I actually believe Suns can cover if he decides to leave. I do like Flanders to spend more in the middle. Then there is Humphrey waiting for more opportunities inside, Graham, Davies. Down the track Rogers/Lombard should bring some speed.
Hes coverable with the talent GC have, but its just pushing any chance they have of success back another couple of years while another kid develops.I think Geelong could use him more than some clubs as we have some super outside players but lack a couple of midfield bulls in that middle age bracket.
I think he will be a loss for the Suns to a degree but with Davies (who I rate highly) plus Graham and Lombard and uwland etc to come through this year he will be pretty coverable. Whether it would have an impact on other player retention for you guys I don't know.
That said I still think he stays for another 2 years.

They need Rowell
Lukosius seemed to be a bit on the outer, and not really required.i think this is one of those time supporters think they know when they dont. gold coast are very deep with young talent these days, they extended king and mac andrew without much fuss. maybe hardwick want to go on a different direction that doesnt have rowell in the midfield. he just dumped another high pick in lukocious without blinking an eye lid afterall.

Theyve got King, Andrew and Walter plus Read as a ruck/fwd type, Lukosius just wasnt going to get a game
