No deal was done with Adelaide. So why were they investigated but in this instance Geelong isn't?
Because somebody would need to make a complaint (like Malthouse) for there to be an investigation.

Oh, and the report is ****ing 12 hours old.

Apparently, Rowell asked Suns for permission to speak to Cats and it was granted (similar to Ainsworth last year).

Who leaked the info to Cleary and why?

What do you offer Cats (to Suns :) )?

His manager is just testing the market, and we're always the perfect candidate when a star player wants a decent pay day.

On the off chance something does happen, there has been rumour on our board that SDK could head north...but it's just rumour at this stage.

If that were the case though, I'd imagine SDK and a 1st would be the starting point. Have to be a decent first though (like a Top 10). Still, will be very difficult for a trade to happen if they think he's still happy. Imagine a 2 year contract would be put in front of him, and then they'd revisit it at Free Agency. Can't imagine any other scenario happening.

Well, he's clearly better than Bowes...so I guess we'd have to come up with a 2RP somehow. But we'd like a F1 as well, thanks.

They just do it so well, Geelong.

While the league is clamouring over a potential Harley Reid decision, and the Perth clubs are jumping over themselves for Chad Warner, they are strategically working on Rowell, who has gone under the radar somewhat.

It was very well known in footy circles that his family wanted him in Victoria after his first contract at the suns. He has stayed a lot longer than most initially thought, probably due to his lack of footy across his first couple of seasons.

Geelong obviously now the front runner, but Collingwood will still be in the hunt.

I still think he will stay again but it will probably be only 2 years and he maybe goes as a free agent after that.

The manager is probably leaking it to drive his price up (he probably wants to stay but wants more money now luko is gone).

Assuming we don't lose anyone that we want to keep like an sdk or mannagh (just picking random good players that are ooc this year) then we would probably offer our 25 and 26 r1s with whatever picks mixed around as needed.

I reckon the Pies are reuniting the Oakleigh crew.

He did play juniors with one or both of the Daicos boys?

He did along with Ben Jepson who will probably be rookie listed by gc. I doubt Collingwood have the trade capital or the cap space though but I could be wrong.

That's exactly what I would expect. I prefer top 10 pick involved 😂

As per today's article in Herald, Rowell put talks on hold, it's upto Suns to convince him, Suns 2025 success/failure will be an important factor, Dimma is his biggest fan, Suns very confident he stays.

You better win, Dimma.

Call me crazy but I actually believe Suns can cover if he decides to leave. I do like Flanders to spend more in the middle. Then there is Humphrey waiting for more opportunities inside, Graham, Davies. Down the track Rogers/Lombard should bring some speed.

I think Geelong could use him more than some clubs as we have some super outside players but lack a couple of midfield bulls in that middle age bracket.

I think he will be a loss for the Suns to a degree but with Davies (who I rate highly) plus Graham and Lombard and uwland etc to come through this year he will be pretty coverable. Whether it would have an impact on other player retention for you guys I don't know.

That said I still think he stays for another 2 years.

Hes coverable with the talent GC have, but its just pushing any chance they have of success back another couple of years while another kid develops.

They need Rowell

i think this is one of those time supporters think they know when they dont. gold coast are very deep with young talent these days, they extended king and mac andrew without much fuss. maybe hardwick want to go on a different direction that doesnt have rowell in the midfield. he just dumped another high pick in lukocious without blinking an eye lid afterall.

Yeah I agree with that, Rowell's vital for what they're trying to build up there in my opinion, not so much in that he can't be replaced, talent-wise, but that he was given pretty much the perfect situation to land in with the Suns, going there with one of his best friends, #1 and #2 in the draft. And if they can't keep both Rowell and Anderson happy and as cornerstones to their first flag contender, I'd suggest that they'd always have to be wary of any Vic Metro kids they draft in the top 10.

Lukosius seemed to be a bit on the outer, and not really required.
Theyve got King, Andrew and Walter plus Read as a ruck/fwd type, Lukosius just wasnt going to get a game

point is no one on here know what hardwick and his MC are thinking. what we know is for some reason GC is happy for rowell to head into his last year of contract while signing others mid contract. We also know hardwick is ruthless as they come, if he doesnt think you are in his plan he is happy to see you go.
