Some areI see we are at the denial stage
So if we miss out, it's because we didn't want themWho said we targeted Lukosius ....we chatted....like we do with maybe a dozen players every year, that doesn't hit the media
We may "like" a player ....but the cost, in terms of trade and contract value, may deter us moving forward
My POV is ....I was always preferring Curtin taking a FWD / MID role, over Lukosius .....it was hard to see them both in that fwd line
Probably, but to be fair a lot of people werent keen on him for the price.I see we are at the denial stage
What was the price?Probably, but to be fair a lot of people werent keen on him for the price.
Im disappointed like many, more for the fact we couldnt attract someone again.
I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here ....there's a myriad of scenarios that go into negotiationsSo if we miss out, it's because we didn't want them
No possible other reason
Getting Burgess last year was a win because he was our No 1 priority
If we are looking at 6 years @ 800-850K, thats a lot of money. What was the price?
What are Port going to offer GC?
That seems to be reasonable to meIf we are looking at 6 years @ 800-850K, thats a lot of money.
I'm not saying I didnt want him, I did.
I didnt trust us not to pay up a first rounder, which would have been in the single digits again. I think that was too much for a player the trading club doesnt want. That seems to be reasonable to me
I thought you were talking about the trade cost
What are Port going to pay then?I didnt trust us not to pay up a first rounder, which would have been in the single digits again. I think that was too much for a player the trading club doesnt want.
It was reported - who knows the truth - that Nicks was on a plane to GCWhether the fan base wanted him or not, the Club certainly wanted Jack. I don't blame Jack for picking a club with more recent success. Nick's really has killed our appeal.

I think you'll see this as a win in the future
Nick's is not impressive. He lacks appeal which explains why our only recruits have been homesick players and bottom tier coaches. It was reported - who knows the truth - that Nicks was on a plane to GC
But apparently ''every club chats to players''
But do they send the coach?
That would be me done and dusted and off to follow GWS.
We would still struggle to impact the 8I wonder how Nicks would be if he had a decent list to work with? you know, if our recruiters actually traded/drafted decent players?
I tell what Nicks has done, he has won games that in the past we would never have won. We have had some pretty specials wins. next year is make or break for him. he could be gone by the bye. This year could have been a tad different if Thilthorpe played from round 1We would still struggle to impact the 8
True to an extent, but every team has injuries and its the strength of the squad / coaching to be able to cover that.I tell what Nicks has done, he has won games that in the past we would never have won. We have had some pretty specials wins. next year is make or break for him. he could be gone by the bye. This year could have been a tad different if Thilthorpe played from round 1
Yeh your right that was quite an arbitrary statement from me. Im sure I would continue to support the AFC. It's the cross I bear, but if you look at my posting history, I guess you could say I do tend to wet the bed a bit on here.Really? That’s your line?
Seems kinda arbitrary.
He's got a top 8 worthy list now and he cant get there. We would still struggle to impact the 8
I disagree on the boldedI tell what Nicks has done, he has won games that in the past we would never have won. We have had some pretty specials wins. next year is make or break for him. he could be gone by the bye. This year could have been a tad different if Thilthorpe played from round 1
