Matthew Scarlett - Washed up hack

Oh how satisfying it is to see this completely overrated tosser get found out. Looks like its all downhill from here for Scarlett, he's now reduced to a hack who:

-Would not dare to man up the oppositon's best forward e.g. Richo

Fletcher > Scarlett, 2 flags > 1. :thumbsu:

Where was Fletcher while David Hale was ripping the Bombers a new one?

Hey I just call it like I see it. I consider myself to be quite the astute football observer and I watch games with no preconceived biases and comment accordingly.

Embarrassing today by Scarlett, strange why so many others are afraid to say what we all saw. I applaud you Sir CouchPotato for not being afraid to tell it like it is. :thumbsu:

Yes he had a shocker that day. But who the hell doesn't have a bad game from time to time. Roughhead and Franklin had shockers on saturday but are they hacks?? Your a fool with no idea.

Come on Guzz, while you're here have a crack at my question.

Was he hiding away on a lesser forward because he's past it, a fading star who was never really that good anyway?
The answer is no, the coach is giving the jobs of taking the best forwards to the defenders that will be on our list in the future.

Never really that good = you fail. B+F winner in the most dominant season in VFL/AFL history, in a side that scored the most points ever, most attacking side ever, yet he gets the B+F as a Full Back. So yeah, I think he's a bit better than Scarlett. :thumbsu:

What about when Fev had 13 scoring shots on Darcy Daniher? Why wasn't Fletcher moved onto him? Is it because he's a washed up hack? Was the Albino too scared to see him get beaten one on one at every contest? Did he want to keep the myth that Fletcher is a good player going a little while longer?

Loving your excuses though, then when we make them you'll be writing them off again of course. What's more fun - being a troll or being a moron?

I remember a game a few years ago when Essendon were a good team and Nathan Thompson was still a Hawk. (Going back a few years!) Sheedy hadn't yet twigged that Fletcher no longer cut it against marking forwards. There was a game at Docklands where Essendon ripped Hawthorn a new one and the Hawks hardly got the ball past the centre. Thommo had barely taken a mark all season, but that day, he clearly beat Fletcher in every marking contest. He made him look a bit like a young Zac Dawson.

Scarlett is still a great defender. He benefits from never getting penalised for holding on to his opponents or chopping their arms. He must have compromising photos of Jeff Gieschen performing sex acts on himself with a rubber chicken. This is the area where Scarlett rates 2nd behind SOS - constantly cheating and getting away with it.

You HAVE to be kidding!!! SOS invented the practice!!!
I was at the 95 GF going ballistic at every Carlton defender, particularly SOS,with their arms wrapped tight around the waists of Ablett, Brownless et al...it was the beginning of the era of cheating defenders that culminated in the AFL needing to bring in the hands in the back rule.

And don't get me started on Campbell Brown bumping and blocking key forwards 20 metres before the contest. Ever wondered why your undersized key defenders take so many un-contested marks in the middle of a pack?

This is just littered with inaccuracies, I'm not sure where to start.

Why is it when Geelong give their young up and coming defenders time on good forwards it's because Scarlett is a hack, when Fletcher does it it's OK?

Straw clutching. The not playing on the best defender is just one of the many things listed in the OP. The fact that you choose to focus on this, and this alone, says it all. The rest is simply beyond defence. :thumbsu:

Um, I answered the question initially. The responsibilities of marking key forwards are been given to young defenders. Period. No ifs or buts. If a change were to be made, it wouldn't have been Fletcher moving to Fev, but rather Pears.

Please put me back in the ignore list, I don't want to have to answer such mind-numbingly stupid questions from you again.

The rest is cherry picking a few mistakes from one por game. You could do that with any player, it's pissweak and not worth my attention.

Don't see why Fletcher is getting bagged (despite this being bay 13) he is a very good footballer.

I still think it's obvious the superior player is Scarlett though.
