Re: Rooke to consult specialist in the US

If your talking about Rhinoceros stem cells then i'm sure we could organise something....can imagine Max's body would handle anything less!!

Re: Rooke to consult specialist in the US

Might be a good omen. In 2007 we sent Max to Germany to get over a niggling hamstring injury and we won the flag. We sent SJ to Tassie last year to fix up a hip complaint and won the flag. To the best of my knowledge, we didn't send anyone anywhere in 2008. :p

Re: Rooke to consult specialist in the US

Worried. If Maxy wants to have a realistic shot at forcing his way back in he needs to be playing VFL in August, which gives this American guy 3-4 weeks tops to fix him and get him back here.

But it ain't over til it's over...go you good thing!

Benny Graham's gonna help him out with NFL placement for a month or so. After he kills the best the NFL have to offer he'll come back through the VFL:p

Re: Rooke to consult specialist in the US

Nice to read this little snippet from Bomber in today's paper.

News from the United States on Max Rooke's knee rehabilitation has also buoyed the Cats coach's confidence that the hard man might be available for September.

"He's going really well. The guy that we've got him training with has been pleasantly surprised and very confident that he'll overcome the injury. If that works out it's been a great exercise and one that's very worthwhile," Thompson said.

Just been watching Hot Seat and love how Maxy says his favourite karaoke song would be 'Big Bad Bushranger'. Very true to type :thumbsu:

Come back soon caveman, we miss ya.

Re: Rooke to consult specialist in the US

US trip sends Rooke's hopes of a return higher

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/98736/default.aspx

Rooke said “I am just looking at training quite hard over the next two to three weeks using the new strategies I learned. Hopefully, if all goes well, I will be looking to play in three or four weeks’ time."

Will be getting very close to finals by the time he is ready to play VFL.

“I left with a bit of a smile on my face - I was able to do things in the last few days that I haven’t been able to do for months, probably years as far as range of motion.”

All the best Maxy!!

Re: Rooke to consult specialist in the US

Thanks for posting the article 'Premiers 2007', sheds a bit of light on Max's condition, however I agree that if he thinks he may play in 3-4 weeks, he'll be cutting it fine as far as finals-I'd love to see him back though :thumbsu:

Re: Rooke to consult specialist in the US

Who would he kick out of the team that has been named for the game vs Brisbane this weekend??

Glad I dont have to pick!

You would think it could only be Blake, Milburn Mackie or Lonergan. I'd say the rest are safe.

Anyway it sounds promising but I'm still not optimistic yet. The real test will be whether he can play and then not have it swell up too much in the next few days, so until he starts playing VFL we really won't be any the wiser as to whether it can stand up.

I really hope he can make a successful comeback though.:thumbsu:

Re: Rooke to consult specialist in the US

I've really missed the human wrecking ball, and I think that his return would be the best thing that could happen to our forward line. As well as his extraordinary defensive work, nobody in the league blows open packs or demolishes opposition taggers like the Max.

You just know that opposition backs get very twitching and keep one eye perpetually peeled over their shoulders when Maxxie is on the rampage!

He makes a successful return & Pods will kick 10 while we win the GF!
