Dawes has straightened us up in a way Anthony never could, he takes pack marks and splits pack and has a huge tank for a 100+ kg player, Reid has also locked down CHB and provides a lot of run.

In the end I don't buy into the whole we have to beat Geelong to prove ourselves philosophy, I wouldn't blink if we lose this game because it means nothing for September, Hawthorn showed you just have to win the right game.

Yeah but your team doesn't like to win in September remember:D
In my time I've seen your club lose 5 Grand Finals in 21 years. But pretty pointless either of us going there because this September will be totally unique as every September is.

This is good because we all know what the end result is from previous games where certain people have opened their mouth before the game.

You mean like Round 9, 2008 when Scarlett came out in the Geelong Ady. and said that Cloke was going to be his bunny?
What was it again... 4 goals to Trav and an 86point hiding?

Short memory comes with the arrogance I guess. :D

I'm sorry but any Collingwood reference to the 08 game must be followed by the fact you almost beat us in the 07 prelim. It is like a package.

And i'm sure Scarlett can say what he wants. It goes with having points on the board.

Just keep hanging your hat on the one round 9 match, if that's what comforts you....oh, did you know you nearly had us in 2007?

I was referring to Scarlett achieving more on a personal level.
Yeah but it's a team game and only flags count, the whole thing is rubbish anyway, the last thing Maxwell would do is pot your club, he just answers the stupid questions from reporters as Scarlett probably did

Our club gets asked silly questions about Gaz every day yet we still find measurable answers. I know it isn't at an oppostion club but there are many different ways you can structure an answer.

Pfft go ahead then and make something out of nothing, won't make a difference to the game, Maxy gave an opinion that is quite naturally Collingwood biased as any opinion by a Geelong player would be biased toward Geelong FC

There is also an overall point here that everything is always about Collingwood.

I'd actually like to see that article. I've never heard Scarlett say ANYTHING during his career, and certainly not before a game. Be curious to see exactly what was said, seeing as he's given an excellent impersonation of Harpo Marx for the bulk of his career.

Pretty sure Cloke played on Taylor that night too.

I don't know why some of you are getting bent out of shape. Geelong are clearly the favourites and clearly the better side. Despite some thinking Pies are over-cocky I have heard little cockiness from Pies supporters - I have seen the Herald Sun blow our achievements out of proportion. I don't know how that is our fault though. Herald Sun reporters are dumbasses. I am under no illusions.

Don't know about that. This isn't some attempt at mind games either; I just think right now Collingwood are playing better footy. We've had some pretty ordinary games recently - dismantled against St.Kilda, snuck home over Hawthorn, terrible against Adelaide. You guys have been far more consistent in the same timeframe.

I certainly think we can win, but I think we need to lift in many areas and I still don't trust players like Lonergan in big games. Hopefully I'm very wrong on Saturday night.

I'd have you guys flag favourites right now. Just, but favourites nevertheless. You aren't on top by accident.

Not trying to burst your bubble, but that article assumes that every Geelong player is fully match fit and in form. Which is a long way from the truth. They may all be available for selection, but they are hardly firing on all cylinders right now.

The Geelong team that plays in the finals will be a much harder foe than the one on the park this weekend.

Easy to write but far from assured. Injury and form issues can effect any team any time.
I'm hoping for a great game but I won't be predicting anything for either side other than a spot in the finals.

Argh. Biggest pet peeve ever. Unless Geelong really do have multiples of Hawkins, Corey and Ottens, which would be nice. Otherwise, it's like listening to Gary Ayres.

But my actual reason for replying is to dispute that one seniors match (against Sydney) hardly equates to getting games into the Hawkinseseseseses, and if you watched any other match besides ones where Collingwood plays, you'd have noticed our Joel Coreys had some knee issues prior to the match. Also our Chapmans, Stokeses and Hunts had some knee and calf troubles during the match. Even our captains, the Lings, missed a fair chunk of a quarter in the rooms after a heavy landing.

So, as Hinkley29 correctly stated, there are currently a lot of question marks over some of our players. Being one and a half games clear of third this round might see a few boys wrapped in cotton wool, given we meet the Doggies next week. Pies might do the same.

Wow, we must have an awesome VFL side.:p

I wouldn't read a lot into what Maxwell said. He was referring to the internal club indicators and game plan. As a team the Pies average 40-50 less disposals per game than the Cats even though we have won the same no of games

What cant be disputed is you clearly beat us in the match and are clearly the better side. We have improved since then as you would expect. We have a much younger 22 than you. What remains to be seen in 2010 is whether Saints Pies or Dogs can bridge the gap on the Cats or catch you off guard as Hawks did in 2008

Cats are favorites this week and favorites for the flag. Collingwood haven't achieved anything in 2010 to remotely reverse that claim. There is little difference in ladder positions and good recent form doesnt reverse your superiority of recent years

Despite some claims to the contrary Collingwood posters are on the whole v circumspect about making any claims this year, there will be exceptions to this of course. The odds strongly favor this not being Collingwoods year but I am hopeful we can snag a flag with this group inn the next few years. Its the most talented list we have had since 1970.

Geelong should remember almost as strongly as Collingwood these flags are v hard to win

Scarlett played on Rocca. So yeah, I guess arrogance does shorten your memory.

I dont know whats funnier your stupid quote...or Avatar name and photo...

We have 2 Flags resulting from Prelim wins over the pies, however the most meaningful banter between the sides to you is from a utter champion Full Back who in a long career made before he played one of worst games in his career - which was in turn due to some very good coaching from Malthouse and playing Rocca as a lead away decoy on Scarlo to get Cloke those kicks.

But for Collingwood this is the Pies showing up on the big occassion of round 9 in 2008, that topped of a H and A season in which you finnished eighth and did not even deserve to play finals (You finnish just above Richmond, half a win behind).

Do you know where Cloke will end up spending his Saturday night, after not being able to take a mark deep foward he drift up past the Half Foward Flank on wing to take his pointless marks. This the only place he ever seems to be in Geelong games, so much so they should name it the "Pointless Patch of Grass Cloke can Take a Mark On" it could be like the Dougie Hawkins win.

As for your main man Medhurst, I saw him play at Port Melbourne last Saturday and he was useless. He paid more attention to the crowd than anything else, did not kick a goal. I see Collingwood named in their best most likely as he played in the middle, but his running was poor and his attitude was worse. Whilst this was in a team that blew a six goal lead to be hunt down the whole game and lose by 3 goals in the quarter. You should change your Avatar as he will be back at Claremont in the West very shortly.

Finally in 2007 Collingwood finnished sixth, a whooping five wins behind Geelong and a decent three wins beind Port. In three attempts at their Home ground they did beat either Grand Finalist all year. Losing the prelim by 8pts and in HA Season by 16pts to the GFC and by 18pts to Port at the MCG. However, aparently a sixth places side that lost 3/3 games agianst the 2 Grand Finalist were seconds away from a certain flag.

Finally any respect any non-Collingwood supporter had for Maxwell was lost when played such an "Awesome Prank" on Steele on "The Bounce".

Also a flute is held sideways not downwards, for any Collingwood supporters who ventures on here wish to agian hurl abuse at the Geelong Theme Song Saxophone playing busker post games. I hope this avoids any embrassment that occurred in last years Prelim aftermath.

Fair enough.

Hip hop is ok though right?

It depends on the mood of the occasion.
If you're stuck in a bar in Ho Chi Minh City on a bucks turn then HH becomes your compadre.

Oh no!!!!

What next? Are you going to post your self-taken lame Bodybuilding pics on our board?

Around 01 to 05, Tarrant & Rocca would take Scarlett to the cleaners on a routine basis.. Taz himself took at least 2 candiates for MOTY on Scarlett. There was history to the move there.
