MCC walk-up members...where were you?

IN all fairness, there is a large number of MCC members in the older age group. And after last weeks game half of them probably died of a heart attack. Either that or they are that old and the dementia has kicked in so much that they forgot that it was on again!

I went last week and couldn't be bothered flying down again.

Plenty of MCC members might have organised holidays, business trips around the GF so maybe a lot would have gone overseas or interstate.

Not sure what happened with the reserved section.

Very disappointing to see 1000+ empty seats there.

Was terribly organised by the MCC. As a restricted member I was hoping to get a chance at some tickets- and the MCC said that at 10:30 if there was still seats left then tickets would be sold to restricted members. Guess what- at 10:30 left there was still seats but none were sold.
And what happens? There is 7,000 spare seats. It's instances like this that give the MCC a bad name- there are plenty of MCC members out there who want to go but don't get a chance. Surely they could at least have let restricted members who nominated Coll/St K as there club of choice in.

You're NOT an MCC member! You're a restricted member.. Think of it this way- the MCC could either give you nothing for three years until you get your full MCC membership, OR they could offer you a restricted one, one where you pay much less, and don't have the right to attend the grand final. Don't like them rules? Then there approx 100,000 people who will happily take your place in the que.. People who pay the full membership fee- people who are paying for the southern stand upgrade (next time you sit in mcc stand, look across the ground)- that is FULL members who pay yearly for the right to walk up the grand final at any stage, have paid for that right.

If people have such a problem with the empty seats, then perhaps they should buy a premium club membership every year, and guarantee yourself a seat to the big game.. Surely you have no problems with that?

MCC not full for a Collingwood final? Very embarrassing for the MCC imo. I think Melbourne and Collingwood are probably the only two teams that would have a guarenteed MCC sellout for a final.

I think Stephen Gough last week said that of the club support levels, it goes Melbourne, Essendon and Collingwood - so if Essendon were they along with either of the other 2, then full house.

How much are you paying for Full Membership?

I actually did have Essendon down originally but for whatever reason I thought your movement to Etihad might have seen a decrease in MCC support. I'm not sure why. But yeah, I kind of assumed Essendon originally anyway.

If they had opened it to restricted members at 10am yesterday, it was still gonna cost them $255.But i do believe that restricted members are just that for a reasoN They do pretty well with access to everything bar the GF for a much reduced fee. The club has the responsibility to have space available for any full members who wish to walk up late; that's what we pay for.

i love when self-righteous full MCC members bombard threads like this & start bleating about their 'rights'. the sense of entitlement is hilarious :thumbsu:

Went last week and couldnt justify the cost of getting another round of flights (at a weeks notice), accomodation and all the rest for me and my son. I think you will find that a lot of people would be in the same boat. I knew a few people who had to do the same thing.

The thing with MCC is that there is such a long waiting list that a lot of people will move from Melb (yes there is a world outside of Melb) at some stage. We pay so we can get access to the games and usually make the effort but in these circumstances you will find that most people just cant justify $5000+ in two weeks for footy.

What do you pay per yr for full membership?
