McClure and Caro issue formal apologies over Crows camp reporting

My reading of this is that Collective Minds kicked up a stink and used Australia's overly broad defamation laws to manufacture an apology/retraction.

Just because the reporting of the story didn't meet a high legal threshold does not mean that the outcomes of the camp didn't have major consequences for the the Crows, or that the players who have specifically mentioned the camp and the fallout from it did not affect them. It would be absurd to think that a court ordered apology between journalists and CM means that the camp has nothing to do with the implosion of the Adelaide Football Club over 2018-19.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that.. No doubt the camp whatever happened on it was a complete failure and cost people there jobs.

I am not sure it was award winning journalism though and if the narrative from the media was that people had to be held accountable then you can't blame Collective Minds for doing the same in reverse.

Anyway the whole thing is/was a mess and the club handled it poorly.

This "apology" is to Collective Minds because it completely sullied their reputation. A negotiated outcome which acknowledges that it wasn't Collective Minds intention to cauase harm. Most of the Crows supporter nuffies feel it is an apology to the Adelaide Football Club. It is no such thing. These stories written by these journalists because of club's handling of the entire ordeal. The players didn't leave because of the articles, they left because of what actually happened. You could argue that staff like Birdbrain were forced to leave because of the articles, because the club would have swept the issues under the carpet like they always have, but then nothing would have changed down there. These are the same idiot supporters demanding change, but also see the conduit to that change (the exposure of the goings on at the camp by these journalists) as the enemy. Complete Morons.

Ahhh the port power supporter coming in to offer his unbiased opinion 😉

In a way it is an apology to the Adelaide football club and if you can’t see that take your Port Power glasses off. These news articles said that Adelaide were allowing things such as racial abuse, tied to trees naked and so on. All of these are now proven to be wrong as their is no evidence of anything like that happening. This is why they are apologising and paying their legal fees. The stories they produced about Collective minds and the ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB were rubbish. Complete Morons…. You said it 👍 😉😉😉😉

The great thing about this apology is that it serves as a reminder of how distastrous the camp run by Collective Minds was. Not sure why they wanted a public apology when the results are fairly clear.

Yeah I'm failing to see the vindication here, more of a taking down of the journos with them. It's not as if the end result of the camp didn't speak enough for itself, now we have nuffies being reminded of just how bad it was and the name of the company behind it being "apologised" to.

All this does is remind us that they facilitated the breakdown of a grand final appearing senior playing list...but at least get your facts straight about how they did it!

Everyone (Big Footy posters) loses out of this apology.

I still don’t respect Collective Minds and their camp clearly sucked, but now the media outlets look like sensationalist morons and Adelaide still took a nose dive straight down the ladder and lost keys players.

I preferred this story when it was fun and we were all dog piling on Collective Minds.

Agree with a lot of this. Especially the media push did lead to change at our club.

Although not sure what player left due to the Camp?

However the bigger issue here is that for once Footy Media have been held accountable for blatant lies chasing clickbait.

Since Crocmedia and JamTV took over basically all Footy Media, the quality of journalism in this game has gone downhill. Most of it is now just fabricated rubbish.

No-one including Arthur Fonzarelli loses out when these headlined, highly self absorbed 2 , who in routinely bellow sensationalist "scoop" stories, get comeuppance.

I want another story written in 2023 with further further speculation on absolutely absurd camp practices. Have you seen Yellowjackets? This camp could have been the story that endured and is sensationally exposed 60 years later, with drip fed rumors in the interim providing sustenance for an eager reader

Now it's just a bunch of campaigners possibly lying and we can't talk about it anymore.

Both should be sacked

No they won't.

Don't care about McClure either way though

Couldn't care less what any investigations into the camp found out, but it's damning when one of the most loved and respected Indigenous players of all time in Eddie Betts has gone on the record to say that the camp was one of the main reasons why he lost his passion for playing footy.

That in itself is a lifetime of damning PR for the Crows and Collective Minds.

The apology turns on intent. A bit like a tribunal ruling. It is careless of Caro and McClure to have implied that the stupid things that Collective Mind came up with, like playing the Tigers club song a hundred times in the dark, were done with intent to harm the players rather than just being stupid things that caused harm and people like Eddie to leave the club.

Poor form by those experienced reporters but this court case doesn't find that any of their reporting was false - they just over-egged their stories.

Take note everyone - the name of those sporting psychologist genius' company is Collective Mind, not Collective Minds. I remember Titus O'Reily doing a number on how they probably had a whole workshop on whether the name should be plural. Can't imagine them not doing that.

Not even in the remotest bit funny imo.

McClure had solid Intel that McGovern was leaving the Crows 6 months before it happened, he must have had solid Intel from someone to report this fiasco.

. Still don't think this exonerates the Crows much, Pyke and Burton lost their jobs, so there has to be some internal fallout at least.

Whatever shred of journalistic integrity she had was gone the moment she joined the trash over at Croc-of-shit media.
