Given you're claiming it's a news story, you better be able to provide a link or pointer to the news organization in question that's running with this story.
I heard it on 1116 sen about an hour ago,

Might be academy although most of those guys are 17 or max 18. I only know of one 19 year old who was on the academy list this year but he wasn't 19 by australia day though. So perhaps it could be a topup player from another club or something. That could easily be interpreted as training squad by someone who knows nothing about footy.

Yeah, if it's actual listed players the number it could be is very small (one of the stories says all 4 went to school in brisbane). Agree it's unlikely it is an academy player.

Lovely of the media to drag the Lions name through it when it's just an idiot who trains with the academy squad.

If they are aspiring AFL players they could go anywhere in the country :) (Princess I'm looking at you). Therefore it could just as easily be:

"Police swoop on aspiring Magpies"

That's not how the main board see it, by the looks of things.

No, and you can't blame them. The headlines are enough to connect this disgusting crime to us. .....and I do want to know names if these kids are even thinking of becoming Lions.....I don't care how good they are.

At the moment two Hawk players are under investigation for rape......everyone believes so anyway, because the media said they were. Will be the same for us, people will believe they are Lions already.

I had read about this case, it is a particularly nasty one.

If these boys are connected to our academy, sack them. Anything that brings us in to disrepute has to go.

Maybe people should...you know...read beyond the headlines. The media should take the blame for poor reporting, but they only get away with it because too many readers/viewers lack critical thinking skills.

So essentially they are 2 loons that play footy on the weekend as a past time.

Could the article not have just said one was a bricklayer and the other a painter or would that hurt those industries too much.
