Lordo's right. Most comfortable 18th placed, 1 win team ever.

I agree.
I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing though. Having a hissy fit and sacking everyone might look like it's "taking action" but I don't see any reason why making level-headed decisions can't work.

Those over east just hate the fact that we're not completely imploding everything we've built as a result of this bottoming-out period. The power and stability and public support are things they envy and would love to see eroded. That's not happening yet and some of them aren't coping very well.

West Coast are "either oblivious to it, or they're too arrogant, or they're too stubborn to do something" about the fact that the fixturing is uneven, which can affect the outcome of the Coleman medal.

If we had any integrity at all, we would ... uhhh ... forfeit all games against teams we have already played this season?

Wait they are trying to blame the fixturing on us now?

Pretty sure we stopped requesting things re the fixture once it was obvious that regardless of anything we would be away to Brisbane, have a lot of home games off 6 day breaks (vs 7+ days for opposition) and travel to tassie every year.

The fixture discussion is one I am sure we can get on board with if it is one they really want to have!

Just saw this SFS on YouTube - oh the pitchforks are well and truly out for the Eagles.
What a putrid little prick Kane Cornes is! And the others are not much better.
Harping on the same old, same old, but don't want to give a PP or any other assistance, want to strip us of our best players, and dissuade draft picks from coming to us.
Lot of thought gone into that. Mindless twerps.

Yep. A lot of the current ire directed at the club (particularly from the east) is of this nature.

They wish for nothing more than to see the club go nuclear, sack everyone and lose all supporting membership.

For all of its faults (and there are A LOT of them at the moment), the club won't be forced into rash decision-making - it will take it's time, make a proper assessment and announce the outcomes after the conclusion of the season - that is the West Coast way.

All the while, the club's membership base remains the envy of the rest of the competition.

There is already an irrational fear starting to brew among these trolls of how strong this club is going to be once it comes out of this dark period.

Let it grow.

I suspect we put away the request forms when we are shit. First time we've gone to Tassie in quite a while. Makes sense to do the poxy road trips when we are rebuilding, take the kids far and wide so they know every ground, but then request better fixturing when it counts (when we're competitive)

Can't imagine the level of criticism would be the same if it were the Dockers. In fact they'd probably be sympathetic. I'd take it all as a massive compliment. Shows we're seen as a real threat to their 'VFL'. And as I not so quietly reminded a Carlton supporter yesterday, we maybe total crap at present but we're still one of the top sides since our inception in '87 - oh by the way how many flag do your Blues have in that time? (For the record WCE 4: Carl 2.)

The Vic footy shows are just the vaudeville side of the VFL. Good ol' boys in a never ending game of whack-a-mole. Each convinced their prognostications are like modern versions of the Ten Commandments and that we should fall to our knees before them. Well I say 'F*ck 'em'!

Yes one would think if we are such a basket case we really should be getting opportunities to get the best kids as well as a PP.

The fact we have money or have stuffed the list ourselves should now be moved aside for the good of the comp

Really? I woulda thought regardless of our status that we'd fight for a decent fixture - otherwise terrible fixturing would become the norm.
'You didn't have a problem with it last year so we went with it again'
I suspect behind closed doors we would always be fighting for the best outcome

I agree, KC is a toe-rag, but hey we all know that and that’s what he strives for. On the other hand there’s a fist full of pricks on Bigfooty who call themselves WC supporters who spend much of their time criticising and trying to harpoon everyone from the coach to the boot studder (yeah, I know they don’t have them anymore, but you know what I mean). Give me Cornes any day, his stupid and vitriolic commentaries are entertaining and only have currency for a week at best.

Thanks for this insightful summary. I keep out of the media.

And people wonder why he doesn’t like stickdick or answer his questions in detail

The media are always going to win if you want to be a petulant child as they will always have the last word..

It’s actually a shame no big name journos go to press conferences anymore.. I’d love to see a conference where Simpson had Cornes, Robbo, Ralph, Wilson, Morris even brain fried Roco firing questions at him if he is so worried about the guy from the west…

Of course Barich could go to help him provide a safe word.

For those that want a good laugh at his whinging...
--------------------------------------------

I would like to come forward as the voice asking the majority of questions in Adam Simpson’s post-game press conference on Saturday.

The reason behind this is I feel a certain amount of responsibility to the readers and West Coast fans who were looking for answers after the 71-point loss to Carlton.

So, yes, I was the journalist Simpson was reluctant to give answers to.

Instead, he offered me blunt replies.

This has likely come about because I have spent much of this season doing my job by trying to keep you informed as to the happenings of the club.

I am not a grand final-winning player or a grand final-winning coach like Simpson.

I’ve obviously never scaled the heights of professional sport like he has.

But, I am a passionate and fair journalist.

My guess is some of my reporting has not been Simpson’s liking.

But, at the end of the day, all I am ever trying to do is be a conduit between the club and its fans.

Simpson has previously said he uses his press conferences to talk to the fans.

So, I am fine with Simpson dismissing me, but by dismissing my questions he’s actually dismissing the fans.

The questions that I ask are the questions the fans want answered.

He shouldn’t shoot the messenger.

Plenty of fans wanted to know why he chose to start second-year defender Brady Hough on Coleman Medal leader Charlie Curnow instead of key defender Rhett Bazzo.

When I asked about this, Simpson’s curt response was, “We thought Hough could do a job on him.”

It was barely a response to half of the question.

I also enquired about the hamstring injury to skipper Luke Shuey.

Let me get on the front foot for this as well.

I never expected Simpson to give me an exact diagnosis.

And on a side note, I hope Shuey plays again.

He has been nothing short of respectful and pleasant when interviewed after big losses to Sydney and Adelaide this year.

But he is the club’s captain, who has sustained yet another serious soft tissue injury and it is relevant to the situation to ask if Simpson had an idea of how Shuey was both in terms of the injury as well as mentally.

When I asked how bad Shuey’s injury was, Simpson replied: “I don’t know yet.”

I then asked a follow-up question to probe for more answers by asking if Simpson thought his season could be over and again he was blunt, saying “Probably not the time to talk about it right now.”

Simpson would later give a much longer answer to another journalist in the room on the same topic.

This is not a new phenomenon.

It has been happening for several weeks now.

I am not sure what Simpson is trying to achieve out of this.

If it is to get me to stop coming to the press conferences, then he is going to be disappointed because my job is to continue to report on football in our state.

And part of that is attending his press conferences.

I am not a reporter who has just come in to agitate Simpson either. I have covered them in Tasmania, NSW, South Australia, Queensland and Melbourne this year alone.

And I am already booked to head to Melbourne for their next away game against Essendon at Marvel Stadium.

Asking the hard questions is something I pride myself on but also don’t take a lot of joy in.

After the 171-point loss to Sydney, I asked if Simpson thought he was still the right man to take the Eagles forward.

This was not because I believed he should or shouldn’t - quite frankly I don’t think you care about my opinion on that - but it was because I believe it was a relevant question after the worst loss in the club’s history.

And that is my job. To ask tough questions.

Nobody deserves to be disrespected in their workplace for simply doing their job.

Even more so when it’s in a public forum.

I just wish Simpson realised when he is deliberately disrespecting me – he’s actually disrespecting the fans.

None of those listed are the least bit 'scary'...

This twat should practice what he preaches. Look at the headline and picture for his article for a start. I am no Simmo apologist or hater. I think it’s time for a change. But the holier than thou dribble stickdick is spewing is a joke coming from him and that rag.

What a manipulative little weasel. Don't claim to represent the fans when you're just trying to further your career at what has become an absolute rag of a paper with a monopoly over the state. Take your hand off it. There's a reason mark duffield was more than happy to get out of there.

You do realise it wouldn’t be hiim who drew the picture or made the headline.
