Even Kane and Hutchy are on board. You know that it's dire times when Kane is saying we need a priority pick.

Caro is saying out loud what most of the Victorian football mafia think but don't say so clearly and loudly - the levers of manipulation available to the AFL (PP's and FA compo) exist solely for and to be used in the benefit of the bankrupt Victorian clubs. WA and SA clubs need not apply or expect fair and equal treatment.

I agree that Langer should front up and publicly defend why he didn't recuse himself from decisions on Simpson given he and his families close personal friendship with Simpson and his family (I know i would recuse myself from decisions involving my best friend if i was in the same situation) and explain the rationale for continuing on the same pathway with Simpson since he was the main leader of that faction at the club. He owes club supporters more transparency than what he is giving.

Unwatcheable at round 3 is pretty sad.
This is the really sad part.

We endured 2 years of utter shyte, and spent the offseason huffing the copium, telling ourselves that there will be some level of improvement this year.

Cut to 3 rounds in and its literally the same shit-sandwich served up again, but with 2 bites already taken out of it. For the third year in a row the workrate hasnt improved, the skills havent improved, and the veterans arent leading.

How long will the club tolerate this? We're supposed to be on the third year of a rebuild and somehow seem to have gone backwards.

Would like to see the minute before for each. Agree it looks bad but you don't lose by 10 goals without a most players having a few plays like that.
Leigh Matthews is saying what i have been predicting on here. He termed it the "Hope and Energy Connection". I referred to it by the behavioural psychology term Learned Helplessness. Once people, whether individually or in a group, conclude that no matter what they do, how hard they try or work or how much they sacrifice they can't positively affect their situation (i.e. they lose hope) then they usually do the psychological equivelant of curling up in the foetal position like a dog that has been beaten 100 times (i.e. they lose energy). I am expecting things to reach a crunch point around 8.

You could tell by how many loose options and how much overlap the Dogs had when moving the ball that some collection of players were not bothering to run both ways, chase and cover their man. I didn't know who the culprits were. Impossible to tell from watching on the TV. It seems that Bartel is telling is our overpaid multi millionaire older playing set that are the culprits.

Definitely the VFL hate is on hard with Caro but Caro is just worried about her clubs imminent rebuild. The next rebuilding team will run right into the Tasmanian team build. The board has 7 members given we don't know the vote results seems blaming it on Justin is a bit of a stretch. Don't know if the relationship means he should have recused himself as I had no idea that was a thing.

That's the million dollar question but you would think he still gets a Mulligan this year. I don't agree with it and he is certainly saying the right things but given the club said late last year he was the man to take us forward I can see them tolerating it for at least this year. Hopefully the trend is upwards because this is awful.

We've had a fitness/workrate/want for the contest problem for years now. Players can say all the stuff they want in the pre season but the truth always get laid bare during the season.

At that point, I finally listened to my wife's nagging and helped before the guests arrived for Sunday Easter Lunch.

I could not believe that I saw Tim English start behind so many of our midfielders and not one player laid a bump or chased....it was absolutely deplorable.

We aren’t worse than last year, we’ve had three top eight contenders, including two flag fancies, two away, in the first three rounds and the bleeding is less. What’s happened is fans claimed they were ready for a tough year but are throwing the toys out of the cot after three rounds because things are tough.

It’s a new game plan, there are some young players who are learning in the toughest environment. Yes, there some frustrating things too. But let’s give it a hot minute before we declare the sky is falling.

Unfortunately we don’t seem to get the teams around our ladder position until later on the season. That will give us a better idea.

Good analogy, but I'd argue there are no bites from said s**t-sandwich. It's just sitting on the plate, getting older, staler, smellier and waiting for us to eat it before we get a look in on any idea of a dessert.

Fairly disingenuous for Simpson to pull that mocking facial expression and tone when asked by a reporter if he ever thought the rebuild would be as hard and/or painful as this (or words to that effect). Trying to pretend as though he was expecting and prepared for this all along and anybody else who didn't is obviously not educated on football matters when less than 12 months ago he was saying there was no need for a rebuilding of the list and all of problems were due to a glut of injuries. Of course none of the reporters there are quick enough or have the balls to point that out to him.

It was expected by most

Not that Tim Watson matters as he advised he doesn’t watch many games but Whately advised today he is instituting his ban again from last year and refusing to watch eagles games again as it’s too painful and a genuine waste of time.

How we have fallen

The reasons Caro gave for WC not getting assistance are stupid.

Wealthy club reason. A common one thrown out. Unfortunately there is a salary cap, our wealth can't buy us good players so it practically means zilch

It's of their own doing reason. Yes, just like North's demise was their own doing, it didn't stop the league giving them many (5 iirc) picks over two years though.

Won a premiership 6 years ago reason. They say a week is a long time in footy, so 6 years is an eternity.

Do you think they watch us anyway? Even in good times they dont even know our players names. Example from the weekend. Commentators bang on about how good the father son rule is say all the names of the Bulldogs and completely forget Waterman.

How we have fallen

Of all the reasons to say “how we have fallen”, this has to be right up there as the clincher to show exactly how dire our situation is.

I’ve sat through 12 goal loss after 12 goal loss, I’ve watched us go goalless for back to back quarters as teams pile on goal after goal after goal, I’ve watched our reserves get similarly beaten up by semi professional footballers. But it wasn’t until I learnt that Gerard Whately had decided to flick over to watch Tipping Point instead of our games that I truly understood the depth of our plight.

Two away games against very good teams and a home game against the team that was 1 point away from a grand final.

Three tough assignments against top quality opposition to start the year and get our confidence up. Thanks AFL.

And round 4 away against the Swans who IMO will win it this year.

The only early game we have half a chance is v Richmond at home in round 5 or 6.

What have the Bulldogs recieved since their last premiership?

JUH pick 1 as an academy priority access.

Father sons in West, Darcy, Croft and Libba a FS helped win that flag.

So did the Dogs deserve all that assistance after winning a flag? They never finished last or been non competitive. All that assistance certainly helped them not bottom out.

Caro saying we are the weathiest club so should get nothing is a clear indication she has NFI how the AFL operates. Salary caps and football operations soft cap basically makes our wealth worthless when it comes to rebuilding and drafting / trading in talent. If she has a brain its clicked over to stupid troll mode as she certainly isnt using it.

Simply do not understand the argument that we dont deserve a PP because "we did it to ourselves."

Every single club that ever gets assistance did it to themselves. Its not like a club had half a side taken out in a plane crash.

All clubs that got a PP drafted poorly. And, in regards to keeping or not keeping old players its just a lucky dip to suit a narrative. Sometimes the media use "they offloaded aging champions too early and forced this on themselves" line (this was used for North last year). In our case, they prefer the "we held on to aging champions too long" line. Literally cannot win. In any event, holding on to older players for longer should count for us. Its not like we gutted the list and then went crawling to the AFL after playing with 18 year olds for 2 years.
