Unfortunately but is still a disgrace to be called AFL with the disparity in travel that then exists.
Not to mention the other VIC clubs that have away games in nearby suburbs. Then you have another 7 teams with relatively short flights (NSW, QLD, SA, TAS), so they're not complaining so much?
WA has always had the rough end of the pineapple...and had to pay ($$) for it as well.
(I'm sure we get a few concessions)(otherwise we'd be stupid) ((;

Got to love this time of year

Fraud alert

Despite the fact West Coast have many more members, Fremantle's average home attendance last year was 46,580, while the Eagles' was 43,150.

Those averages include the “Home” games each WA team played in gather round - West Coast played Sydney in Mt Barker (9225) whilst Fremantle played Carlton at Adelaide oval (43158)

Take those games out and the averages for actual Optus home games are ~46890 (Fremantle) and ~46230 (West Coast) which when you consider Fremantle had a (deserved) more favourable fixture with 3 Friday games (we had zero) and more Saturday games it’s not much of a gap. One side was also in finals contention and the other was entrenched at the bottom of the ladder

By all means use stats to prove a point but make sure they aren’t misleading

Agree with all of that, SA and NSW clubs don't need any parity as hopping on a plane for an hour is not a big thing.
We are prone to not shouting loud enough, hopefully this changes soon.
If the AFL was serious about all clubs surviving, club attendances, club finances etc. they would amalgamate at least 2 clubs with GC & GWS that have the lowest attendances, lowest members and most financially dependant on the AFL.
This has worked very well for Sydney and Brisbane over the years and they end up having a big increase in members because of the amalgamation as well as keeping a loyal supporter base in Melbourne which would increase their attendances.

1 concession that won't happen that should be extra list spots to combat the very well known fact that WA clubs because of the 4+ hours fly factor every interstate game have a much shorter career and take longer to recover from injuries because of this.
I can't remember the number but it is significant enough that it should be addressed sooner rather than later.
Whatever the disparity is both WA clubs should be granted extra list pots at AFL average salary.

AFL won’t hurry to change our travel disadvantage. What might get things moving would be an ex WA player(s) taking legal advice … yes, now, what grounds?
I’m sure a savvy silk could find something in restraint of trade or OH&S or some ‘injury’ aggravated by excessive travel or … 😊
