I'm warming to Nom de Jeu and I'm probably liking it more than Mad Rush now.

Zipping I think is a horse that I could seeing running a place, but not winning.

I think 58.5 is a lot of weight to be carrying for 3200m and I don't think there's a great history of top weights winning the Melbourne cup.

EDIT: I just saw the 08 St Leger on youtube. Septimus won by a long way, but that race is nothing like the Melbourne cup. People can jump on Septimus all they like! :thumbsu:

Not sure why Volta didn't make the poll, I still think that Honolulu and Profound Beauty should feature.

If Efficient gets a barrier from 5-15 I'll be backing him most probably.

If he doesn't get that ideal barrier, and Mad Rush does, I'll probably go Mad Rush.

Looks like the decision has been made for me. Mad Rush all the way!

Ice Chariot is goin along nicely in my opinion. I'll be including it in my exotics. Still don't know who to get on the nose!! I love this race.

so is bauer in or out and what are the dangers...i know theres is like 7 runners who can jump ahead of him in the saab... not lookin good:(??

also lookin to back an outsider around the 20-60 mark... who shud i look at a leader like allesandro volta maybe to run a place or maybe somefin like ice chariot... and one more mid range horses to back each way like littorio or something...

I got this from another site. Its the past winners and times of the Irish Leger, that septimus won by 13 lengths. take from it what you will

2002 Vinnie Roe 4 Pat Smullen Dermot Weld Seamus Sheridan 2:59.00
2003 Vinnie Roe 5 Pat Smullen Dermot Weld Seamus Sheridan 2:58.90
2004 Vinnie Roe 6 Pat Smullen Dermot Weld Seamus Sheridan 3:03.90
2005 Collier Hill 7 Dean McKeown Alan Swinbank R. Hall & A. Young 3:01.20
2006 Kastoria 5 Michael Kinane John Oxx HH Aga Khan IV 3:01.00
2007 Yeats 6 Kieren Fallon Aidan O'Brien S. Magnier & D. Nagle 3:03.40
2008 Septimus 5 Seamus Heffernan Aidan O'Brien Derrick Smith 3:11.97

Our 2 mile race is run requiring a turn of speed at the end. Often the races are run that way... with pacemakers and Septimus having a second gear as a stayer who knows.

That is still pretty damning.

Consider it taken on board. Fantastic piece of information there.

On top selection: Nom Du Jeu;good each way bet stormed home in caufield cup from one of the outside barriers, formline looks ok with barbaricus running well in the mackinnon. Will appreciate some rain, good barrier and world class jockey.

Real Roughie:Newport; appreciates some rain, first run in Melbourne was sound(5th in Moonee Valley Cup) draw is average but hasnt drawn the carpark,by encosta de lago and has my favourite jockey on board, Chris Symons!!
