Let's all be honest here, Paul Roos is a 95% chance to be our coach as of next week. I couldn't give 2 S**ts what we pay him, as the move by Jackson will be the best and most exciting at this club for the last 35 years. 1.5,2,3 Million, who really cares, the man will single headedly draw supporters to the games next year. I'm not expecting plenty of wins, but am expecting a genuine competitive effort, and improvement, and based on how the players performed on the weekend (especially after half time, when 95% of the time we would've crumbled) in light of recent events, you couldn't help but think we may finally be passing the stage which can only be referred to as hell.

*My very early statement of 2014:
Round 1 attendance +45,000( Vs Interstate team)-*65,000 ( Vs Melbourne based team) It's funny how when I speak to my mates about Melbourne supporters, they don't realise how big a bandwagon we can actually form, I genuinely think Roos will create serious revenue for this club in its early stages. The rest will come with success which for the first time in a long time, Ive got genuine hope may happen.

Great point re the bandwagon.
For those who can remember back to 1987, the crowds we were getting when we started rolling were evidence of what happens when everybody gets onboard.
I have no doubt that Roos will generate that excitement just by signing on and if we can back that up with improved performance it will snowball.
This coming period for the club promises plenty and is already generating more optimism amongst the long suffering supporters than anything dished up in the last ten years at least.

Other clubs supporters whining that we are able to get Roos = they know we are coming.

:)

"Can you smell what Roos is cooking?"

My earliest memories of the dees were the very late 90's , I do remember we were getting healthy crowds to the Vic games .. I lost my lol for the game during the 07-08 seasons a little as the footy was boring and we were obviously trying to lose ...
That bulldogs game this year was amazing but there just hasn't been any fun or excitement watching Melbourne in years .. It's going to take a longtime to get that back

Dont have to worry about going back that far, I arrived about 12:30? when the game started at 2:10 in 1998 and couldn't get in (prelim vs NORF) we made sure to book the next finals we went to lol

I'm being nitpicky here but I think that was a night game. In 98 we nearly averaged forty k in the home and away season though. Also we've lost nearly 10k since 2011 so at minimum we could expect them back quickly.

Edit: 39 thousand included finals in 98.

2000 was night as well. May have been against Carlton in 2000. Or If it was Norf, 2002 elimination.
Before that Carlton or Bulldogs in 94
wasnt blues, was either 98 or 2000... may have been 98? But that wasnt vs North I remember watching that at night, I was so freaking shattered

Dunno why that memory is clear now... LAME

God we were good in 98, every game that Lyon, Neitz, Schwartz and Farmer played we won :( by a decent average margin as well

Yep. I was sure we were gonna win it that year.
Got screwed by the final 8 system. Had to play North on a Friday night when they still owned that timeslot.
Finish top 4, win by 8 goals, and have to play a semi. Ridiculous.

prob why they changed it having said that North were our massive bogey side in the 90's I remember reading an article from Daniher saying they were a team he wanted to emulate.

They always had our measure, like WCE when we were good in 200x?

Carlton also had our measure in the naughties

there is always one team at one stage hahaha they smacked us by 105? in 2000 but we won the more important one, than with the help of my man Cameron Bruce we absolutely flogged em in 2002 I think it was

Last day at Optus oval when the Bruce snagged 6?? Also think they came from ten goals down to nearly pinch it
