During the Ess V WCE game the camera shows three girls dressed as brides with a sign asking rama to marry them. Cometti says they must be Mormon - no response then he says they are catching the next flight to Salt Lake City.

Dennis you are struggling when you resort to bad religious jokes. FFS the mormons don't have mulitple wives, what are you thinking or are you just trying to get a laugh at any expense. Maybe working with Ox and bruce is starting to get to you.

Stay away from religious remarks. Imagine if Newman had said it.

Maybe so but it was completely irrelevant to anything the Mormons do. It was just a desperate attempt for a laugh.

He could not think of a religion that allows mulitple wives so decided it was the Mormons. He should be above that sort of attempt at humour .

He didn't get a response because Ox probably doesn't know what a Mormon is and Bruce was too busy trying to control his Matthew Lloyd chubby.

Not according to that show on SBS called "Big Love"

Nothing wrong with multiple wives, keeps em competitive

ehehehehe :thumbsu:, and agree with the above post.

To the OP, it was a bad joke, not for the religious connotation attached, just was an unfunny joke.

It's a fine line to tread, I'm not saying the OP has, but people do get touchy on these sorts of things. Religious wars have been started for less.

Although Mormons accept the prohibition on plural marriage, various splinter groups left the mainline LDS Church to continue the open practice of plural marriage. Polygamy among these groups persists today in Utah, neighboring states, and the spin-off colonies, as well as among isolated individuals with no organized church affiliation. Polygamist churches of Mormon origin are often referred to as "Mormon fundamentalist" even though, because they are practicing polygamy, they are not a part of the LDS church and therefore are not accurately considered "Mormon".

^^ No they don't read it again.

Splinter groups same difference, mormons themselves are a splinter group. Sorry can you tell me if this is the peoples front of Judea or the Judean People's Front :confused:

Cometti could of said Muslims but that would stirred up more people that just a Richmond moderator. :p

Going by what Commetti said, I'd say leave bad jokes out of it, religion's not the problem.

Whatever happened to the great Australian tradition of taking the piss out of people? Some folks are just too conservative these days...

I don't think he would have had the balls to say Muslims. Or you could say he has to many brains to say muslims.

I think you are creating a mountain out of a molehill! Get over it.

Yes it was a joke on my behalf, oh well easier to pick on the polygamist mormons. :p

Gee, these Mormons are a touchy bunch - you would think you would be relaxed if you had one wife to chop the wood, one to dig the holes, on the vacuum and one on bedroom duties!

Mormons true doctrine is multiple wives and there are many such marriages in the States, get your facts right

In the LDS Church, both men and women may enter a celestial marriage with only one partner at a time. A man may be sealed to more than one woman; if his wife dies, however, he may enter another celestial marriage, and be sealed to both his living wife and deceased wife or wives. Many Mormons assume that all these marriages will be valid in the eternities and the husband will live together in the afterlife as a polygamous family with all wives to whom he was sealed. On page 72 of the 1998 edition of the Church Handbook of Instructions, the LDS Church clarified that a woman may also be sealed to more than one man. A woman, however, may not be sealed to more than one man while she is alive. She may only be sealed to subsequent partners after she has died. [1] Church leaders have not clarified if women in such circumstances will live in a polyandrous relationship in the afterlife. According to LDS belief, the celestial marriage covenant, as with other covenants, requires the continued righteousness of the couple to remain in effect after this life. If only one remains righteous that person is promised a righteous eternal companion in eternity.

In the 19th century the term celestial marriage often referred specifically to the practice of plural marriage, a practice which the LDS Church abandoned in 1890. Plural marriage is still continued by Mormon fundamentalists not affiliated with the LDS Church, and is referred to as celestial marriage.

What next are you going to come up with - the true doctrine of anyone who is not a Christian is that all Christians should be fed to lions?

Oh puleeeease!

Peejay...this defence from a religion which literally sells its belief that "an angel (Moroni) came down and told some dude (Joseph Smith) heres some new tablets to write an americanized version of a bible..."

The same Joseph Smith whom:

1. In the 1830s, Joseph Smith, Jr. instituted a form of polygamy referred to as plural marriage, which Brigham Young acknowledged and promoted after the LDS church's move to the Utah Territory. According to his own statements, Joseph Smith, Jr. was more than a little uneasy at facing the institution of plural marriage, and said that he did so only after being warned through subsequent divine revelation that he should begin the practice or "be destroyed" [9]; however, not all members practiced polygamy.

2. When the Mormons migrated to Missouri they encountered the pro-slavery sentiments of their neighbors. Initially, Joseph Smith, Jr. supported the laws regarding slaves and slaveholders as a matter of peace and order, but eventually rejected the institution and supported its abolition. Smith also welcomed free blacks into the church, and ordained black men to the Priesthood.

John Lennon had it right in "Imagine...no religion..."

Carpe Diem people - seize the day...forget religious nuttery of which mormons run high and mighty.

Dean...
