Mental Health Check In - Everyone Okay?

Hi all.

I thought it would be a decent time to remind you all to check in with yourselves mentally.
Check in with someone. Go for a walk. Find time for yourselves away from the media, the TV and BF.

The club is in a proper rut and many people use football as an escape.
Statistically, DV cases go through the roof during sporting events. Days like today are triggers for many people.
Saying it's just a game is a cop out. To many people, sport is people's reason to get up.

So. If you're struggling, make sure you take that step. Make that call. To a friend. To a professional. To someone. It's not weak. You're not weak. You just can't bottle it up.

Cheers

It’s a very valid thread and a great shout Mop.

campaigner of a year. campaigner of a few years. But it’s not real life and you’re more important than your relationship with this sleddog of a footy side. Stay healthy and stay smart.

DMs are open if anyone wants to hit me up about life, love, the universe or just vent.

It is just a game - take a break when you need to, it’s been pretty horrible for around 3 years now.

One thing though while your being so mindful - spare a thought for Adam Simpson, Trevor Nisbett, Andrew Gaff, Jack Darling, Nic Naitanui and Luke Shuey - and all the people you call useless, a disgrace, say they should lose their jobs, be fired etc etc.

These are fellow humans.

On that note - I’m ready for another ‘week off’ myself, my 3rd this year I think (I’m not counting the bye, that was just a previously scheduled ‘treat’).

Thanks Mop good idea to make a thread on this.

I just had this random thought pop in my head as I could just picture someone calling lifeline and talking about the Eagles and what we should do in our rebuild, going on and on about Simmo and Nisbett and what we should do to make us improve and then the responder on the other end be like um sorry to interrupt but you've been talking about the Eagles for like 2 hours now. Excuse me sir but do you actually need help.

I couldn’t speak for almost 24 hours after we (Borussia Dortmund) gave up the title on the last match day. This in comparison is honestly nothing. Unlike football, where poor decisions can be punished by delegation, in Aussie rules, poor decisions win draft picks, and kickstarted rebuilds. I get there may be be people upset, but let’s keep perspective here. We will be back soon enough.

I'm really good. Saw it coming many years ago. So I mentally prepared myself.

This kind of stuff really affected me greatly, whole week completely ruined, judge and end of woosha days.

I can't even remember much of judge, didn't watch the side for 2 years. Wanted to retain my sanity.

So for those much younger than I (with less coping mechanisms), please take care, find an outlet to talk. Let the anger and grief out.

Just popped in to say keep your heads up. West Coast are a proud club, one of the best of the AFL era and they will be great again. Every club goes through a crap period, you just have to hang in there and success will come. Unless you are Carlton, they are making being mediocre an art form.

Simmo looks a broken man, nice that Longmire stopped to have a talk with him after the game, but I almost wonder if Simmo should step down. The pressure on him must be immense.

Great thread Mop, kudos for posting it.

Just a game for me Mop, thanks Bud.

My girls are healthy, we got a roof and food in fridge.

Its sad as **** and embarrassing now to be an Eagle supporter, but it can be much, much worse.

✌️

Glad to see this. Flew up for this game, I can’t believe what I witnessed. 441 days and 11 straight L’s now since my last win I attended = Collingwood on my birthday last year!

Thanks for the thread
I’m ok
Partly because rather than despite footy though because it’s still a distraction/escape that occupies my life for half a year
The worst year of my life was 2020

But at the same time I empathise
I was at that glorious Pies win last year (what a birthday present to you yay!)
And I too flew up for the Sydney game yesterday :(
