Merged Draft Threads - Part 3

How many A grade mids do we have ? Maybe you should take the blinkers off and think about things. Welsh , B grade mid. Stanton, B grade mid. McVeigh probably the closest to an A grade we have. Lovett, don't even get me started on him.
Then once you work that out you then look at the draft. This year there is a bot of a drop off from the top 5 or 6 quality mids to the rest. Yes we need defenders but there are more options further into the draft with the defenders.

So Ant, Sidebottom, Hurley, Hartlett or Ziebel?

What are peoples thoughts on Kade Klemke with our 3rd round, if he were to be available. really good leader (Captain of the Bushrangers winning team) a really good sized player, was named in the AA under 18 team at the champs, could become quite a handy pick up if available, any one agree. or would you start to look at a ruckmen, KPP with these later picks.

I have only seen him play twice but he hasn't impressed me much.

I would prefer to take the best Ruckman in the third round, (assuming there is a standout if not we could choose one later), and Allwrite in the fourth.

I am very keen on Allwrite and believe he would offer us a lot and would probably push for a game next year.

Yeah, i am a massive fan of Allwright (that is how to spell it). He looks really good and would fit in with us perfect. Can play mid or as a shutting down back. Strong overhead mark. Very underated.

What are people's thoughts on Michael Walters? Seems to be a quick skilfull mid who can play as a small forward and kick goals or even play as a small defender, would he be available at pick 23? would we look at taking him, especially if we go for a kp with our first pick?.

Any players that we would be likely to pick up that could play a majority of the season next year? Similar to Rioli this year? I really want to see atleast 1 if not 2 really good players drafted this year. I often get so jealous when i see how good Selwood is for Geelong.

He should go in the first round Walters, so I doubt he'll drop to our second pick. It'd be an absolute steal if he did.

I'd be happy to claim him (Klemke) with our third rounder. He's composed with the footy in his hands, makes the right decision nine times out of ten and he is fabulous overhead for someone his size. The only main question mark hanging over his head is his pace, he seems a bit one paced on the footy field. Would be an ideal third round pick up, a very honest, hard-working HBF/BP.

Hurley should be ready to go early, same with Robinson & Zaharakis. Though it depends where they get drafted mainly, Naitanui could play close to every game if he got drafted by the Dees for example.

I don't think Hurley is ready to go. Big step up to play KP in the AFL.

I wasn't assuming he'd play KP straight away. A few third tall jobs would do the trick, with Fletcher & Ryder taking the first two tall forwards.

Loves the physical stuff without going overboard and giving away stupid free kicks. Really hard at the contest. Despite him being just above average pace wise he will back himself to run from defence.

I suppose he could be a third tall forward.
The third tall defender is not in use as much anymore and they generally get the slightly quicker blokes.

Is it worth going for Jack Zeibell with our first pick??? Quality player who made the under 18 all australian team...can play at chf but also very good on the ball...been touted as a potential top 10 pick is it worth going after him and picking him up????

Our first round pick? You're in the Essendon Board buddy, not Hawthorn's.

Why do you continually say we when you are a Hawthorn supporter?

The longer it gets drawn out the more I get the feeling Lovett will be packaged with Hislop for a mid 1st Rounder:mad::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

That's quite possible, and not a bad outcome, really.

ant, foj, others:

Bearing in mind that we haven't seen the draft camp results, what are some predictions for some of these guys? Just a few that I've heard about, or who impressed me at the champs.

Luke Stanton
Dan Hannebery
David Zaharakis
Jarred Redden
Nick Suban
Alex Wilson
Rhys Stanley
John Butcher
Stephen Hill
Mitchell Banner

They may not all get drafted, or even thought about, but they are a few I've heard a lot about, and a few who impressed me at the Telstra Dome.

Cheers.

Luke Stanton - 3rd/4th round
Dan Hannebery - 2nd/3rd/4th round
David Zaharakis - 2nd round
Jarred Redden - 3rd/4th round
Nick Suban - 1st/2nd round
Alex Wilson - Pass
Rhys Stanley - 3rd/4th/Rookie
John Butcher - N/A - Too young
Stephen Hill - 1st/2nd round
Mitchell Banner - 3rd/4th round

My thoughts are in bold.

Would we get Hurley?

With our Old Backline we should probably take him, and then a mid. with 23rd.

This has probably been said thousands of time, sorry, couldn't be stuffed reading 15 pages :)
