Re: Robert Warnock for Jason Laycock - Anyone Interested?

Two of them were delisted, one we traded for and the other is a coach.

That's a bit different from gloating about stealing other club's players for nothing in the PSD.

Kep was only delisted as he told the club he wanted to go to Freo or WC. Knights wanted to keep him. As did I.

I thought Knights tried to trade Kep, Freo accepted the Ess offer (3rd rounder) then backed out at the last second. Then Knights delisted him.

I remember Knights saying that a reason why Keps was delisted was because he saw him as a forward and we had too many key forwards on our list. Thank God we got rid of him, absolute dud.
Back to the topic, i can think of a great trade that everyone will love. Dyson for Warnock:D;)

I wonder if a second round draft pick would be enough.... Anyway we'll resume this conversation in 5 months time. :thumbsu:

Re: Robert Warnock for Jason Laycock - Anyone Interested?

Time to lay off Laycock, he's copped enough criticism inside and out of EFC. Some of us can remember S.Madden getting dropped early in his career ( and his younger brother took over for a while). Guess who stayed with the Dons ? Laycocks lethargy is indeed frustrating, but like the Leviathan Hille, I get a feeling he will leave Lade languishing :thumbsu:

Re: Robert Warnock for Jason Laycock - Anyone Interested?

If anybody doesn't mind, I would like to be the president of the "lets get rid of Jason Laycock" movement....

Re: Robert Warnock for Jason Laycock - Anyone Interested?

if we keep playing the way were playing and keep getting injuries, we wont need to trade for another ruckman because we might finish last and get that fijian kid

Re: Robert Warnock for Jason Laycock - Anyone Interested?

If this deal does go ahead, watch out for Knock Knock jokes.

It will be hard to take when you are seriously listening to the footy coverage.

I'll swap Lazycock for a feather duster at the moment. :D

Re: Robert Warnock for Jason Laycock - Anyone Interested?

laycock in terms of potential is a lot ahead of warnock imo... we have seen what laycock can do eg against white he got from memory over 30 hit outs and around 16 or 17 possessions and a goal..

laycock for some reason really struggles when he is not the first ruckmen.. when hille is absent he seems to pull a blinder.. i dont really understand it, there shouldnt be much difference between playing 50% match time in the ruck and near 100% in terms of impact on performance. if anything you would think 50% match time in the ruck owuld be easier to play well due to the fact that you wouldnt need to be as fit..

Re: Robert Warnock for Jason Laycock - Anyone Interested?

I would want Robert Warnock for Laycock, but the question is does Melbourne want Laycock?

Why does Melbourne wanting Laycock matter?

Do you mean to say does Fremantle want Laycock?

Or are you thinking of a three way deal? Possibly Yze gong to Freo :D

Re: Robert Warnock for Jason Laycock - Anyone Interested?

I'd expect Warnock to stay, he's not short of opportunities with the Dockers, and despite being Victorian, relocating again isn't as desirable as some seem to believe.

I hope you're right. ATEOTD I believe Big Nockers is a huge talent and I hope he stays at Freo for the next 10 years.

Failing that I would think a pick around 15 would be about where he's at right now.

Re: Robert Warnock for Jason Laycock - Anyone Interested?

When is Gilmore off contract? Anyone know. He'd fit perfectly into our side as our 2nd ruckman.

Bombers fans, those who are wanting Gilmore...

have a read of this

I know this thread is a little early. and you all know my opinion of the guy, but i am prompted to start this thread by something that i read on the essendon board. basically essendon were talking about robbie warnock, and would they like to pick him up, the general consensus said no, but there was considerable support for getting gilmore :confused::eek:

now, personally, i think gilmore is a complete waste of a jumper. his skills on the weekend cost us the game, although i used to think his skills were his one positive, he is as soft as butter sitting on a car radiator, granted he is fit and obviously the club sees him as a versatile player who can "play anywhere" but i have seen him play in the ruck, in the backline and in the midfield and havent seen him play one game that i believe would warrant him getting a game the next week. and FINALLY and i believe this is the most important down side to Gilmore, he has the worst decision making process of any footballer in the AFL, in short he is a STUPID footballer.

yet bombers supporters seem to rate him, with a strong draft this year, what would you take for gilmore? personally i'd take a sixth round pick, but thats just me. thoughts?

Do you still want Gilmore?

Freo fans not rating their own players makes me want them even more. Look who they have given up in the past; Simmonds, Croad, Medhurst, McPhee, Bell (now back at Freo), Farmer (now back at Freo). They dont exactly have a great track record when it comes to trading.

As for Gilmore in particular, I'm not sure he is what we need. From what I have seen of him, he doesnt provide anything extraordinary (except for last year when he killed us ) He doesnt have great skills, doesnt have great pace and isnt the best mark for someone his size. I would rather Warnock to to Gilmore, but then I'd rather Laycock to both of them. Having said that, If we could get Gilmore for relatively nothing (the 6th round pick that the freo poster suggested) I wouldnt hesitate to take him.

Re: Robert Warnock for Jason Laycock - Anyone Interested?

I still want him, a versatile 2nd ruckman would fit our side perfectly.

God knows why you want him.

He's 191cm, hardly gets in it in the taps, is over 25 and isn't strong in the smarts or skills department.

If we're looking for a ruckman, Ivan Maric would be the one I'd go after. We'd get him cheap, he's got a good build for a ruckman and is still only 22.

Re: Robert Warnock for Jason Laycock - Anyone Interested?

what about fabian deluca? he was rated pretty highly before his draft, and slipped later than a lot expected.
i barely get to see any port games, especially since the rubbish seven/ten/foxtel deal started, so i wouldn't know.
would he be worth trading for say, slattery?

We must draft Ben Cousins

After the first stage of the season it is clearly evident that we must make a big play for Ben Cousins. He is an absolute superstar with such a huge running capacity, and so skilful. Our on ballers could learn so much from him about running forward and back and actually using the football.
Yes we all know the negatives but if the bloke really is on the straight and narrow it is a no brainer. He wouldn't be keeping a young player out of the side, that is a poor excuse, if youngsters are good enough they will play. It would take a massive amount of balls from Knights but it is something that is absolutely neccesary. GET BEN COUSINS!!!!!

Re: We must draft Ben Cousins

yeh would love 2 get cousins. but cant see it happeing with the youth policy we have goin, i rekon him to collingwood is a done deal

Re: We must draft Ben Cousins

From an Essendon POV, I haven't thought about it enough, but from Cousins' own POV, he needs to go to Collingwood or Brisbane, and have Matthews or Malthouse keeping him in line.
