Yes, overrated people generally score over 8,500 test runs, with a high score in the triple century region. Hitting 1,595 runs in a calendar year at an average of 106. All while battling a debilitating back injury that caused multiple issues.

Criticise Clarke the person all you like but to suggest he was overrated? Pull the other one.

Great batsman, without any question.

Shaun Marsh is easily a better cricketer than Michael Clarke in a canter.

Pup was very overrated
No. Just no. If SMarsh lived up to his full potential, IMO, maybe. But he is far from Pup as a batsman.

This.
Some people forget how good he was with the bat because he's such a dickhead and even more forget how much of a dickhead he is because of how good he was with the bat.

And there are some people who prefer to judge cricketers on their CRICKET ability because we've never met the guy and have no idea what sort of a person he is. Is that too much to ask, or does every debate on this forum have to come down to whether we like someone or not?

Clarke is one of Australia's greatest ever batsmen, and it's a pity a lot of so-called cricket fans on this forum prefer to judge him on what he was when he was a young man. Early 20s, driving sports cars, dating models, and playing Test cricket. This was just about every young man's dream. Most of the negative opinion on Clarke is based on envy. As stated in an earlier post, I prefer to judge cricketers on their ability to play the game.

Based on envy?

So he's the only Test cricketer who makes a fortune and dates babes?

Otherwise, we'd dislike all of them, due to envy... Wouldn't we?

does the same go for other sports, politics, business and other industries too? this website is littered with people, like you, who post opinions on people they've never met before. even a quick look at the hawthorn board will show negative opinions on the fans teams very own players! oh the humanity!!! are football fans who post such comments also jealous?

Now go back to the Hawthorn Board, and read the posts I have actually made, and come back with examples.

I can assure you I don't dislike clarke because he played cricket, dated models and drove around in a sports car.

I'm not 10.

Tbh I disliked him more in his later years when he was destabilising the team through white anting than when he was just a precocious youngster.

In summary your analysis, for me at least. Is invalid
