Decided to check for articles since I found it odd to hear about Judd of all people been unprofessional.

4 kids, left MMM and Nine too. I doubt many excuses hold up better than having four kids to look after.
I guess someone had to be home from time to time to pay the au pair.

Its actually in the annual report. 2020 and 2019 seem to have been taken off the internet but 2021 extract below:

8 meetings held whilst he was Director and he attended.....3. One more than our 79 year old director.

Think we were talking about being present at the club during the week rather than at board meetings specifically.

That looks poor but there are always reasons. Whether they're sufficient is another story.

I don’t know…but I would think if a director can’t attend a board meeting (which is once a month) more than half the time then he’s not spending a lot of free time in a volunteer gig at the club.

Not to mention I actually don’t know what a director would be doing other than attending board meetings as the primary job responsibility anyway. Poor look I agree.

Is it too early to say we dodged a bullet not appointing Alastair Clarkson..
No, we would've had him for all of 2022 and 2 complete pre-seasons... but just ridiculous that whatever this is, is dragging on for so long. Don't think the AFL would've permitted for North to touch him if the inner sanctum word was damning.

At present Fagan is holding up well, just shows how much passion Clarko has that it's really bitten into his mental well-being. Either he's consumed by guilt or he's deeply hurt.

One thing that sh### me about this country that getting justice, courts and getting stuff sorted anywhere takes a stupid amount of time.

Even worse is that the AFL review was to be finished before Xmas. Guess that's better than saying before Dec 25 2022.

Just like the Essendon Doping, the AFL think they can manufacture an outcome that saves the brand. If the allegations are truthful, and really there is nothing I have heard to suggest they aren't then it is a disgrace and the legal and PR ramifications for Hawthorn and the 2 coaches involved will be drastic, AFL have tried to hush it away hoping that a financial settlement would be enough for those effected, however Clarko is having none of it because any payment indicates a level of guilt, and any level should not be tolerated and have to mean he could no longer coach.

If I recall correctly, wasn't he brought in as a part time board member anyway? I'm sure I remember reading that at the time though maybe my memory is wrong.

If that is the case, he can't really be blamed for being an absentee director, given that's basically what his role was.

Spot on. I’ve read “The Boys Club” Michael Warner and “The Real Dope” by Chip Le Grand and the AFLs handling of the Hawthorn racism complaint is straight out of their handbook for handling a crisis to minimise brand damage.

Hird was pretty resilient too but they broke him eventually and being considered a drug cheat is almost as bad as being considered a racist. It will be interesting to see what “severance” package they have to offer Clarko to get him over the line.

Someone with detailed knowledge of the Essendon saga gave me his opinion of the AFL's investigation face to face. It was extremely uncomplimentary. Yes that was an Essendon view but this person was highly regarded in his profession outside football.

Voss, just like Bolton and Teague before him is showing to be a very good assistant coach, however he does not have the smarts to be a savvy senior coach.

You need to look at the entire football department, not just the senior coach. Right now I think Voss is the victim of being the face of one of the worst football departments in the business.

Brad Llloyd has overseen 5 years of poor department performance. He's turned over two senior coaches, countless assistants, and yet on-field performance remains well below where it should be.

We don't get much insight into what any of the Assistant Coaches actually do beyond their titles.. but when you look at clubs like Collingwood (Bolton/Leppitsch) and Melbourne (Richardson/Williams) we're well behind when it comes to reputation and experience.

I would love to see the club kick off an external review with Brad Lloyd held accountable. Unless the review finds Voss to be incompetent I'd like to see him surrounded with a stronger group, including at least 1 senior assistant with prior AFL level coaching experience.

If we haven't learned by now that sacking the senior coach doesn't work we never will.

It's like watching coaches in the box during the game, the common theme is
'why aren't you doing anything???", or "..get on the phone and do something...". Our coaches and the NRL coaches are the only ones who sit in the stands, every other manager/coach is on the sideline. They have trusted line and assistant coaches watching from above.
McCrae's success from the boundary line is a case in point, where is Fagen too....

For all those "RTB" lovers, the Saints have lost three of their last five, we've lost four of our last five, hardly say "RTB" is anyone's savior! And if you had read Jake Niall's piece in the Age you would have noted that we are only marginally off last year's stats, Harry's accuracy and ball use are down and that's about it. So write off the year at round 10 is just pathetic, can't possibly call yourself a supporter, you're only a barracker.......

You can support the club and still be critical. No one reasonable is writing off the season, just concerned where it may be headed if nothing changes.

Ross has an average list. Voss has a great one.

This weekend is great chance to pull back some momentum as we head into a tough stretch of games. Go Blues.

Other football departments have clearly worked out their match day roles.

McRae & Fagan do the people stuff from the boundary. The assistants do strategy from the box.

Yep, well said totally agree.
Lloyd and Hamill in particular should be in the firing line.

Voss doesn't have a 'great list'
