Interesting Slobbos "the tackle" indicates that Sayers is making himself available to media this week (and we will be honouring Voss's contact for 24).

So what is it?

Last year was injuries derailed us..

This year.. not so bad on the injury front... and now somehow as a collective the whole list has gone completely footy stupid?? Let's now go and hope that in 24 the list sorts itself out.. and then we'll be hit with injuries again so we can blame those.

All I heard from Sayers and Co. that we're a finals list and we should be making finals... technically Voss in 8/10 years last year would've made finals.. so I get the pass (and some injuries)... this year who and where does the buck stop?

If you've been divorced 4 times, you're either just extremely unlucky... or maybe you realise you're the common denominator...

There's clearly a pattern of behavior here.. we're terrible at appointing senior coaches.. but doubling down our most recent poor choice isn't the answer.

So many things to fix before we even consider hiring another coach. Ultimately that decision should be made by Brad Lloyd's replacement.

What I can say with confidence is that sacking Voss would lead to an improvement in on-field performance this season. There's nothing to be gained by letting this continue.

Voss wont be sacked and nor should he - you need to back your coach in after only 18 months - it needs to be a big offseason though in the way we play

But if he does get sacked over the next 18 months (presumably because the wins arent coming) then we are up for another rebuild of sorts. Its a very big next 12-24 months for this club and the playing list (the 'stars' on our list).

I suspect he'll continue as coach next year but others (ie Russell, Lloyd, assistants) will be in the gun. Rightly or wrongly the club won't want to be seen to prematurely sack another senior coach and unlike last time there aren't obvious high calibre prospects available to replace him (Lyon, Clarko, Scott).

If we are still going poorly halfway through next year Voss will be gone and we will be in for a mini rebuild. With the ages of our key players next year will be the last chance for this list.

This is all assuming we don't go on some hellish losing streak this year. If we finish bottom 5 and only win 2-3 more games Voss can't survive. With our talent though I see this is as unlikely. We will beat enough teams to finish 9-12 even if we miss finals.

I see lots of people calling for different peoples heads. It's really hard to know who is responsible for what exactly from outside the club.

For example maybe this is all about a poor gameplan that Voss has mandated, hasn't communicated well and despite feedback from everyone is stubbornly sticking with. Or maybe he has delegated ball movement to someone else (ie Hansen) who isn't doing their job very well. Or maybe it is all his doing but he is taking feedback on and trying to make adjustments. All these scenarios require different actions to be taken by the club.

Voss said in the post-game presser the buck stops with the leadership - coaches and playing leaders.

It’s on our midfield not starting the game off with a defensive mindset so that our backline get some delay on the ball and actually have a chance. Absolutely under siege in the first half. I started to feel sorry for them at one point. Once you give them that support then they all looked great in the second half. It’s too little too late at that point.

I believe everything has come down to messaging at this point and vossy has finally conceded that in his last presser. Hopefully it’s not too late to turn it around but I don’t like the fact he’s changing his tune so much. Hopefully the players get the clear message now and start helping each other out on the field and stay connected defensively.
I agree with you that's in incumbent on the mids to put pressure up the ground, but equally, its the defenders responsibility to put blocks on in the goal square and not allow a fwd to jump at the footy virtually unimpeded like its school yard kick to kick. I see a defensive group lacking the attention to detail they had last year. Our defenders need to get proactive instead of being reactive. Get back to anticipating incoming balls and what the opposing fwds are doing.

2-3 more wins is the max we will achieve on current form

It's like watching coaches in the box during the game, the common theme is
'why aren't you doing anything???", or "..get on the phone and do something...". Our coaches and the NRL coaches are the only ones who sit in the stands, every other manager/coach is on the sideline. They have trusted line and assistant coaches watching from above.
McCrae's success from the boundary line is a case in point, where is Fagen too....
And Hinkley

Wrong. You hire someone after a lengthy process, you give them the opportunities to fix the problems and demonstrate growth.

Yes, performance has gone backwards, and nobody would be more upset by this than Voss the competitive beast.

If the coach has the desire to fix things, an understanding of the issues and a plan to address them, you back them in. That's what good clubs do.

We have still not lost to a side we "should" beat. We have been comprehensively outplayed by top 8 teams, and Voss has admitted we need to change quickly in order to compete.

"Supporters" just expecting success to happen is the main problem. News flash for the chicken littles: another coach sacking to make it 4 head coaches in 5 years ain't the answer.

I agree that the mediocrity is not good enough. But wetting the bed as soon as the pressure starts to build when things don't go out way hasn't served us well in the past. The media and outsiders are poking the bear in the hope it'll turn into a story. We need to be united and strong as a club and work through the issues otherwise we just restart the cycle.

This is arrogant and rude. Don't turn on fellow supporters. Venting on this site doesn't and isn't the problem with the club either btw.

Richmond fans are pretty infamous haters of their own club - doesn't make a difference to the on field at all. The problems with the club. Not us

#1 role of a senior coach is to extract maximum performance from the talent at hand. Right now the only player he's getting maximum output from is Ed Curnow - and that's because he has not nothing left to give.

When the entirety of your list is underperfoming at once you look straight to the senior coach. The system is broken and he's not the person to correct it. Belief is gone.

We got about 8 weeks of new coach uplift when Voss took over. We've had nothing since. This is David Teague all over again. Personally i'd rather rip the bandaid off now rather than waste the remainder of 2023.. and likely 2024 too if we go with Voss again.

We're the ones that get on talkback radio and start beating the drums. We eat out of the Media's hand and it quickly snowballs from there.

Richmond turned it around when the club was strong enough to deny the fan's their will.

Exactly. All fans are like this and it's still down to the ****ing club to make the right call - whatever that may be.

Let fans be fans. Ups downs all of it. Arrogantly beating your chest and turning on each other - gross
