I think there's an interesting discussion to be had about how the AFL functions as an organisation.
To characterise it as having turned fully woke I think is a stretch- things like Pride round, Gather round and the Indigenous round are all socially quite progressive, and the AFL is doing a good job at slowly introducing these concepts and slowly shifting the zeitgeist towards more inclusivity. Interestingly, the AFLW leading the charge for pride I think shows some of the biases that are still present in our society. The AFL as an organisation has recognised that the language around Pride is difficult for large swathes of our society, but those who are more likely to show interest in women's sports are typically going to be more supportive of inclusion. Is the AFL anywhere near having a Pride round in the AFLM? No, and I would say we are probably a few decades away from it.
Regarding the "woke political" leaning in the AFL, I would say the fact that it is still largely funded by gambling companies, and has a Cryptobank as another major sponsor would indicate that it isn't as "woke" as the less progressively minded people would want to accept.
Gambling has caused more societal harm than any form of LGBTQIA+ positivity, Indigenous awareness, or general inclusivity driver (or all three combined) ever has.
Cryptocurrency is imo an expression of ultimate libertarianism and I believe the Crypto-crowd is largely associated with right-leaning/conservative trains of thought.
In my opinion, the AFL can only really be considered "woke" by those who are scared of change or the bare minimum when it comes to social acceptance.
Also stop bringing American politics into things- it's downright embarrassing to see the way the Australian vernacular has been perverted by the dominance of American politics.
Also if you think the AFL is woke and view that as negative, I think you need to try and figure out what puts you off about the "woke" components of the organisation, and I think you need to have a think about the actual harm caused by the actions you don't like.

I find it oddly fascinating how many non Americans are highly concerned about immigration (illegal or otherwise) into the US, especially that it mainly seems to be from Eastern Europeans and some whites from other countries in the Anglo Sphere.
Personally I couldn't give a rat's arse about Poland's, Russia's, and/or other Slav countries immigration situation; zero interest in knowing how many non-Europeans they let in or don't let in. Yet they seem overly emotionally invested about the US immigration situation, often talking as if the US was their country. Ironic since Poles and other Slavs cry racism and bigotry when native Brits whine about being swamped by migrants from Eastern Europe.
My theory is that they pathetically perceive the US to be an extension of themselves (Europeans/whites), or at least they live vicariously through the achievements of the US and shamelessly take some sort of ownership of those achievements, putting them in the 'white' umbrella/category because the US is majority European (around 70% and decreasing every year due to declining birth rate of people of European ancestry) for the time being.
Therefore they are threatened by the possibility that one day the make up of the majority of the population demographic of the US (the most powerful nation in the world militarily, economically and culturally) will become browner (those 'foreign' brown people from Latin America) and no longer claim some sort of racial superiority by association with the US current predominant European demographic.
Well that would only mean that North America will ethnically start to resemble the population demographic prior to European invasion. That's the only thing that makes sense to me about the obsession about another foreign country's immigration situation.
You have remember that the US and Canada are foreignly imposed borders. It's always struck as highly insulting and sad to have the gall to label people with predominant Native American ancestry as "Illegal Aliens" in the Americas, people that have been Native to that continent for around 30,000 years. It's akin to complaining about Aborigines from Northern Territory migrating to Sydney and Melbourne and labeling them as "Illegal Aliens" as well. Absolutely ridiculous.

Australia has been made into a landlords domain - right wing, left wing - both sides are landlords who choose to deflect from rent seeking as their #1 aspiration by deflecting with meaningless dribble - throwing crumbs at the sucked in population which has a choice between a Queensland developer or a so called hard man of the left in Albanese who owns 5 rentals himself
The AFL is a handy part of the deflection industry ( entertainment circuses) wearing the clothes of memic political correctness (as you do) giving punters something to cheer or cry about and forget inconvenient stuff that requires some thinking like an AUD exchange rate that is the biggest contributor to inflation after government money priniting presses and jobs for the boys and girls and whatever else a person wants to identify as .
