MALTHOUSE 2013 Everyone who hates the idea of sacking Ratten and getting Mick will change there tune when we're sitting 1st-4th. Would be great to see Mick win us more premierships in less time then he did at the Pies.

Not quite. I expected Ratten to bring us whatever success this list is capable of achieving.

...and this is the foolish attitude that is going to have a lot of simple people patting themselves on the their backs if it comes to fruition. Will be interesting to see how he goes if he suffers the same levels of injury as 2012.

Did you think about the possibility that it was intentional?

And that he can chose what questions he answers and that he might want the media to butt out of their coach hiring process.

People bag sticks over the most petty crap. His main job is to hire and fire and oversee the departments, not run them. As far as I can see that is what he has been doing and when a department has failed, and failed miserably like the football department has this year then he must act accordingly and he has.

I can't
imagine that they'd have sacked ratts, if there was not at least a handshake agreement with MM.

As for Roos, he has consistently said he won't leave Sydney until his son completes his HSC next year.
I believe Paul's wife has a big say in what the family do, and where they live.

Personally, I am very sad for ratts, who showede himself a true champion today at the presser. As I think maybe Mark Maclure said, it would have been good to let him coach again next yar, with a fit list, and see how far we could go, and then we'd have had, at least a choice of a few more veterans to chhose from. ex.Paul Roos.

Still it's done and dusted now. I love the CFC, and will continue to support them, flawed as they are.

When Sticks hesitated for a few seconds when asked if Ratts would have been sacked had MM not been available, it was a pretty obvious sign I reckon.

Not sure that you want to coach next year mick , well **** off then, lets get the best coach available that is 100% commited, this whole saga is an absolute farce. Appointing dennis pagan put the club back 5 - 10 years recruting a bunch of no ones, this coaching appointment better work i dont really care who it is at this stage but if this back fires the CFC will lose members and as much as it sounds like carlton supporters are emotional at the moment i truly believe this could break this club. we have waited 15 years for the club to be back on top and to sack a club legend just when next year could have been his year to shine is an absolute disgrace in my opinion the next coach will get all the credit for rattens hard work. I have lost a hell of alot of passion for the club with this event and by the sounds so have alot of other true blue supporters. And i honestly believe i might not be able to get it back with an ex pies CEO and an Ex pies coach thats not fot me sorry. I'll still barrack for carlton but i feel it just wont be the same. The carlton board and mangement are a bunch of w***ers. NO IDEA.

Mate, he couldn't come out and say "I wont coach unless it's at Carlton" could he?

Yes Pagan was a bad choice, but we did lose our 2 first rnd DP's for 100 years

True, but it also may bring in a shit load more members, there are a lot of people who think MM is the answer to all.

Dennis Pagan was a scapegoat. He walked into a club with poor facilities and no money to spend on the football department. He took on a list that was the worst the club had ever had and one of the worst lists seen at an AFL club. Most of Carlton's leaders had just retired and there were no good youth players coming through. Player development had been neglected for years. The club was strugling to survive and was a shambles off field. On top of all this the club had their early draft picks removed so rebuilding was impossible. Their recruiting department was pathetic so gaining quality was very hard. Carlton had to draft rejects, they didn't have the options, if they didn't do what they did they would have been losing by 100 points every week.

Pagan needed 10 years to achieve anything with what he had and he never got it. In hindsight Pagan was probably a better fit for a club in a position like where we are now, a strong list capable of finishing top 4 which I believe we are. Not a long term rebuilding project that would be better taken up by a younger coach, which it was in Ratten.

If Malthouse takes up the job he walks into a club with a very good relatively young list, decent recruiters, decent youth coming through, top class facilities, decent off field power and a club that is and should be looking to compete for the premiership.

There is no comparison to the Malthouse situation compared to the Pagan situation.

No they didn't. They finished bottom anyway and threw away draft picks in the process.

Its all starting to fall into place, alot would never of thought Mick Malthouse would coach Carlton next season so dont be nieve to think Cloke want join Carlton too.

Swan being good mates with Malthouse would of planted the seed a while ago, put the idea to Stix & the board that Micky would be interested if it come up & its evolved from there.

Maxwell is essentially an on field coach, Laids isn't quite as articulate and loud as he is.

Jamo/Simon White I feel can be back line generals, but would like to start playing like Laids does.
Laidler is a leader down back, tough and great with the work he does on CFC TV.

Jamison is already there.

Don't see White as a leader, let alone a best 22 player.

The Malthouse has already been done IMO.
But Cloke, I think it will be very unlikely he will be leaving the filth,
