I still faith in the players and coach, we're getting some quality players back in the next few weeks

I can't see any realistic reason why we can't beat the Giants, Cats, Crows in the next month.

We are better than our current ladder position suggests, no world beaters, but think we will finish around 12th/13th at seasons end ..

We will win this week, absolutely no doubt in my mind. Giants will have somewhat big heads after beating Hawthorn, and i think we get the chocolates in a players sign of solidarity for Mick, its our line in the sand game .. Hope everyone rocks up to Etihad on Saturday arvo and make some noise .. These are games when the club needs you the most ..
Christ you're optimistic.

I fear another 10+ goal defeat, and convinced we will finish 17th or 18th.

Gotta have hope/stay positive, if Kruezer, Menzel, Yarran and Jamo back, that automatically a 4-5 goal better team.

GWS have only ever won once at Etihad I believe, they are still a young team of kids, prone to unexpected bouts of inconsistency from time to time.

Have faith mate, I honestly haven't felt this bullish about our chances in a while .. :)

I want Basset or Tudor as they are untried coaches and Clarkson was an untried coach and Hawthorn have won three flags and Beveridge is an untried coach and Bulldogs have won four out of six.

... is that how it works ??:)

All part of the plan... If we do this right, we will only need to bottom out for one year. Keep first rounder, draft well with later picks, trade our seasoned under-performing performers for top-end picks, on-trade those picks for young talent, utilise a low PSD pick as leverage... Aish, Dixon, Shiel? If Mick does as he did in '05 with the help of SOS, he could set us up for many years.

I woild also suggest adding someone like Anthony Rock, who coached Greenvale to flags in the EDFL and now has St Bernards sitting ontop of the VAFA ladder. Also in the local league i am involved with a guy named Craig Clinnick is extremely well regarded and coached Strathmore to a flag last year, i am certain he would add value at AFL level.

In the "from the coach" micks review, he says "Johnson kicked goals" when he only kicked one, and names Holman, Viojo-Rainbow, Menzel and Kruezer as all playing well.....but says nothing about Watson who kicked 3. He has completely lost my support.

Brett Kirk please.

We have tried to stock pile big bodied midfielders (Bell, Cripps, Whiley, Graham) to emulate Fremantle with some outside run... hopefully Kirk could apply some of Freos aggressive, running gamestyle to them.
Where the hell have you been? I made this for you and everything!

I'll find out more about the chap from Strathmore, I have a very close contact there.

CARLTON will be encouraged to select a new coach from an AFL-approved group of 21 if they part ways with Mick Malthouse.

The AFL is moving towards enforcing minimum accreditation standards for senior coaches.

Current coaches and former senior coaches in assistant roles would be exempt.

Eight assistant coaches are currently taking the Level 4 AFL Coach accreditation program which would put them at the front of the line for a top coaching position.

If the Blues want a fresh face, the AFL will direct them to: Brendon Bolton (Hawthorn), Stuart Dew (Sydney), Matthew Nicks (Port Adelaide), John Barker (Carlton), Blake Caracella (Geelong), Robert Harvey (Collingwood), Adam Kingsley (St Kilda) and Simon Lloyd (Fremantle).

Whoever we pick they better appoint an experienced panel to make recommendations. If the prez, Trigg and SOS do it my blood will be boiling.

and we better poach a GUN senior assistant from another club... if we've got to pay big money then so be it.

The issue with this is that any assistant with ambition of a senior coaching gig is they will not come to Carlton as they know it looks better on there resume to be part of a succesful club. Our only chance is getting someone who has had the top job and been sacked like a McKenna, Waters, Hardwick etc.

If I have to hear that we lost to "a very good football side" one more time im going to scream. Against the bottom side of all teams. He should be tearing shreds off of the players for losing this game. Every game.

Im still finding it hard to see how we can keep losing with our list. We aren't top 4, but we aren't bottom 4 either.

You're halfway there. This untried coach must be from another club, because every coach (& every player) at other clubs are infinitely better than what Carlton has got.

Loved a line in Robbo's article today :

"So, we have this strange situation where Malthouse won’t walk and the club won’t sack him.":confused:

...ummm, isn't that the situation at about 17 other clubs ???
That is a great example of the media's sense of influence over what happens at clubs and afl in general. That line can be interpreted as Robinson saying " well what the hell are we going to put in the paper if Carlton wont sack him and Mick wont quit?" Strange situation indeed, when journalist have to actually, you know, do their job.
