Midfield structure - your theories

Yep.

Ive shuffled my set-up again. Now going for:

2 of ABC
400k+
Gibbs
2 rookies

My old mid-pricer was Skipworth, but he back in the forwards now. Allowed me another premium. Good thing about this midfield is I only have to make two upgrades. Bring in Bartel (who can usually be picked up cheap) and Swan and its done. Upgrading my backs/forwards should be easier to do, as there prices will generally be lower.

Im pretty happy with that set-up now.

had bartel, gibbs, pearce, wells, rischitelli, anthony a few days ago but upgrade pearce and wells to premiums and downgraded rischitelli to haselby

also going that way but i have skipworth rather than a 2nd rookie.

ablett,corey,selwood,gibbs,skipworth,beams

im quite happy with that setup. skipworth should make enough money to be able to trade him straight to a gun around round 8-10. same scenario with the rookie. i have anthony on the bench so if he can average 70 and make some money i can trade both rookies when they have peaked for a gun and a downgrade rookie for the bench.

1 of A/B/C (most likely A)
Premium
Keeper
Mid pricer
2 rookies

So Hodges you now have 14 or 13 keepers ??
Also how many under 150k are you starting on the field??
And do you have 2 premium rucks??

Little article in the WA papers today saying Craig may be starting 5 debutants pretty much. They than went on to say Petrenko, Walker, Cook and Dangerfiel (2 games) and Otten (2 games) would also be very good chances.

Im expecting Porpz, VB, Symes to all miss round 1 and maybe Jacky.

Still have 13 keepers. As favourites said, I dropped one of my forward premiums to get another midfield premium (Skipworth swapping positions).

Ive got two premium rucks and im starting 4 players under 150k. Still got a bit of cash on the bench aswell.

Yeah DWD but it doesnt help with who will keep their spot haha, when VB Symes and Porps come in who are they taking out.

I would assume VB will take Cook, Symes --> Danger, Porps --> Patrenko. Which will leave only Otten and Walker who both have excelled in the nab.

My Midfield

M.Murphy
M.Boyd
B.Sewell
M.Richhitelli
A.Otten
D.Beams

I plan to trade Sewell and Michael straight to premiums in one swap.

Its a mid-pricer strategy. Cross was under-priced, Stanton look set for a huge year. Salopek was a well picked break out player (until his injury). Not sure why he picked Embley at the start, bit of a risky pick. All of these players could have been in his final midfield side (plus Stevens for obvious reasons).

I suppose it would be similar to a S Tuck, Gibbs, Selwood, Reilly, Haselby and Mackay midfield set-up.

the previous 3 years ive gone for a midpriced midfield with 1 premium and a rookie, but i just dont see as much value in midpricers for the midfield this year. Too many mid-pricers are speculative and could easily be dropped from their 22 after a couple of rounds.

So ill be going with a high priced midfield and a rookie. The value in midpricers seems to be more in the backline and forward line this year. Whats probably more important is that i see 6 of my players in my 22 either holding their price or coming down. Obviously these are my premiums. One is a lock and leave captain. The other 16 players in my team i expect to rise in value. Whether that be by 200k or only 30k, i still expect their increase in value to more than offset the small depreciations that my 6 premiums might have.

Fair enough, but seriously there is no way you can make a case for all 5 of those playing regardless of what you've read in the paper. Porps played 3 quarters for West on the weekend and should be fine to play. I can see VB, Jacky and Symes missing this weekend though.

I don't think Jacky, Cook or Dangerfield will play.

Key four push for selection.

Ive gone with the following:
ABC
ABC
Gibbs
Mid-pricer
Mid-pricer
Rookie

What about going for 3 dead set guns (final 6 end in mind). Than selecting 5 rookies, playing 3. I would just about bank on 3 of them playing each week. Im thinking of this with starting Hill in the mids. giving me (Hill, Rich, Otten, Beams, Anthony) and even others to consider Cockie, Robinson, Dangerfield, Ziebell, Sidebottom. I would bank on 3 of them playing just about each week.

Where's your cash to finance those upgrades coming from if you have a couple of centres not playing each week. It's not as though there are heaps of money making rookies in other positions.

I had that for a while, could be worth a look imo. Depends on how many rookies you have starting around the rest of the ground.

I must say, I am also considering the 3 rookies starting in the midfield.

I currently have:

ABC
ABC
Premium
Mid priced
Rookie
Rookie

But I am seriously considering the following:

ABC
Premium
Mid priced
Rookie
Rookie
Rookie

Is there something I am missing here that says that this is a bad strategy to go with? Sure, it is a huge risk but I really think it is one that would be worth taking. There are a fair few mid rookies who will play a fair bit, if not every week, so it is not as if I would be copping many 0s early on.

The first structure is a lot safer and a lot more expensive but as I said, I am seriously considering switching to the 2nd structure as it will free up a hell of a lot of cash which I can then use on other positions around the ground.

Thoughts?

Mine is

Ablett
Kornes
Gibbs
Otten
Rich
Beams

Anthony/Robinson

Tbh i think its pretty solid, i would hope that most weeks 3 of those 5 will play. The only MAJOR concern is if one of my guns pick up an injury then i will be up the creek without a paddle. Also gives me two captain choices here as well.
