Midfield structure - your theories

My mid structure is

Gun
Mid Range
Mid Range
Mid Range
Cash Cow
Rookie

Rookie
Rookie

My Cash cow may turn into a keeper but thats highly unlikely. Having too much trouble figuring out where to put Skipworth / higgins. All my mid rangers will hopefully turn into keepers but if not they will be upgraded.

ive gone with

premium
premium
400k low end premium
400k low end premium
cash cow
rookie

im fairly happy with this. it means i only have to make two upgrades. these upgrades will be from cash cow to ablett and rookie to corey.

It is always interesting to see how different peoples definitions are. Premium to me is the top x per position i.e there is only 6 premium mids. Joel selwood i would class more as a keeper than a premium.

ok then well when i say low end premium i mean i intend on keeping them in my team the whole season. there the two ive picked out to go close to averiging 100 this year.

Prmeium in forwards and mids = 420-430k or more
Rucks = simply the 4 highest price rucks
backs = 400k or more

However i think as said more than once that C.Cornes is a premium however he might not be a keeper if he gets injured. Hes the cheapest premium in the game.

Just until recently I had a midfield structure of:
Premium
Premium
Premium
Potential Premium
Mid range
Mid range

I finally came to my senses and traded out one of the premiums to a rookie, IMO I see too many good rookies in the mids to just have 2 on the bench

Having thought alot about my team in the last few days, Im not sure i am confident enough in the rookies to start one in the midfield. Not sure what my structure will be, but just looking at the rookies, i cant find 3 im confident in playing most if not all of the first half of the season.

Don't over think it Lakey!

Thanks for the link! Always wondered about that eh...

Nah but really, the thing about the break from my team means im not overthinking. It lets me come back fresh, and express my true perspectives towards different players, structures etc, and this seems to be one thing ive gotten out of it from thinking about potential of rookies playing first 6-10 games. This could all change when the teams are named round one though!

Seems everyone has jumped on the Wells and Buttler bandwagon!!
Wells, who has been in my opinion a 'terrible' dreamteamer has dominated when it doesn't count. Happy to wait and see if he can do it in the limelight.

I think I've got a very unique structure, and tbh im starting to second guess it with late season trades in mind.

Low End Premium (400-420k)
Keeper / Potential Premium (360-400k)
Keeper / Potential Premium (360-400k)
Keeper / Potential Premium (360-400k)
Mid Price (250-300k)
Rookie

This midfield will really live or die depending on if my Keepers average what I expect them to average. It will give me an advantage early in the season, however come the second half of the season providing I hold onto my Keepers, my 4th and 5th mids will noticeably be weaker than many of the other teams.

i thin 2 of A/B/C may take too much away from the rest of your side. You also only need 1 for the captaincy along with backups of C.Cornes, Deledio or Cox or Pav for examples. I think the midpricer will be important in the mids. If you can get that right than your more than half way of having your final mids by round 6ish.

My theory is you need a gun that you know consistently gets you big scores as Captain right from the get go as he is double value.

Make sure you also pick 2 bottom value players for you bench on each line that you know will given a chance to play (ie Swift, Rich, Robinson, Ziebel, hill) they cost close to minimum value however will be traded for for some easy cash at a later stage and can be used as back up if you cop an injury. If you choose to many players that are low in value at the start because they are good value early on due to possible injuries last year , getting more chances this year or a change of position, you run the chance of getting to far behind after 5 or so rounds when you decide to sell up.
You do need these players in your team as you can't afford 22 superstars. the trick is to get the right combination of guns and up and commers.
Although these stars may go down a in value from their initial value, you will still get good scores week in week out from these players. These stars can get you up to 150 points any given week wheres the up and commers will most likely get into the 80s,90s and 100 if your lucky.

ANyway i guess i am saying right from the start you need your stars on everyline with maybe 2 potentials on each line ( ie hasebly,, raines, houla, coughlin, tuck, tenace, higgins etc..) ALso try and keep first year players on the bench as backups and cash makers.

You would be surprised. Ive still got 13 keepers, and my worst ones (by position/price) are Bock, Gibbs, Simmonds and S Johnson. There are a few risks that have to be taken, but im confident everyone (outside the rookies) is in their respective best 22's.

my midfield strategy... convicts 2008 :)

Convicts Mids 2008, hardly secret information:rolleyes:

Cross $402,200
Stanton $400,400
Embley $350,600
Salopek $348,100
Stevens $257,200
Dyson $201,800

Morton $111,500
Bird $83,500

think ill only go one of hase and ttuck. im just not convinced tuck is a best 22 player just yet, and havent heard a whole lot of haselby. i think hase is the better option of the two.

looking at a structure of A/B + 6 < 260k players.

the only thing holding me back is certain cash cows in the fwds and backs i want to take advantage of.

For my midfield structure ive gone with'

Premium
Premium
Keeper - Potential Premium
Keeper - Potential Premium
Rookie
Rookie

I tend to like this set up because if my keepers become premiums I will only need to upgrade my 2 rookie midfielders.

Wouldnt be that hard. Ive got 2 of ABC plus a player in that range, so bringing in Selwood would be easy. Swap out a mid priced player for one of your premium backs/forwards and your done.

How many keepers do you have in other areas? My spread is 4/3/2/4 (B/M/R/F).
