Re: Millewa Football League

Yes they did finish 3rd and i dont coubt there will be more to come yeah i wonder how some of there blokes from last year feel it is good to see players come to your club but when it endangers blokes positions on the team it makes u wonder

Golly play only 2 games all year with 22 players. Many a retirement had to be cancelled to just get 18 punters on the field. Im sure they wont mind drinking cans from the hill a year later than planed.

The only blokes that should be worried are ones that aren't good or committed enough.
Golly had no choice but to recruit heavily as they didn't have the numbers last year and they, along with the rest of the league were miles behind Bambill.

Are you saying that over half of the side weren't good enough? or just not good enough to win so get rid of them. If it wasn't for players that aren't "good enough" there wouldnt be a comp.

What I'm saying is that if they want to be competitive again they, along with all clubs other then Bambill have no choice but to recruit heavily. You don't get rid of anyone but you recruit to improve.

It was a pretty self explanatory post i think and not aimed at Golly but all teams and all leagues. Hopefully you can grasp what i'm talking about.

Re: Millewa Football League

Does anyone know much about any of the new gol gol players. I have heard that Vandy, Dean Um, Tim Anderson and Richard Mill go a bit of all right what others like Tim Hawson (Golden Rivers FL > Ultima) Brock Chapman ( Nyah Nyah west United CMFL) and Luke Demario (Merbein). Asked a mate that play's in the CMFL and That Brock Chapman did not play last year because of injury. His from down Melbourne somewhere played in some good league down there anyone know were?? Luke Demario did he play last year at Merbein??? How does he go???

Newbie to the site with a couple of comments (unwanted??? maybe) but here goes. Not sure Bambil is following that ethos of yours Skeeter, as reading the transfers list I see a couple of talented recruits already. Add to that the rumor I hear about Denny Fox ???? and Cardy’s newest recruit being enticed over to the saints after a phone call from Morgs $$$. Not sure how much they want to win the flag by, but good luck!

Re: Millewa Football League

10, I can tell you Bambill is NOT throwing $$$ around LR&C.
. We are unable to spend big $$$

The club puts on lot of time and effort into looking after all players (on and off the fields) and their family, which is why we have been able to retain nearly most players from last year and recruit others to replace the guys we have lost.

Anyway, the big positive is most clubs have worked hard over the summer to build up their playing list and it seems most games will more competitive and even. This can only be a good thing for the league;)

comedy at its best!

On the transfer list going to Cardross it lists Aaron Clarke to Cardross, but as of this week i understand that he has indicated he'll be playing with Bambil, not Cardy. Big loss to Cardy, without him ever actually arriving.

Mmm interesting. Never actually heard of the guy but it's not often someone puts a clearance in twice then changes to another club in the same league.
Good on Bambill though they obviously made an effort to get the guy which alot of other clubs don't.

if it is true then offering more coin doesnt define "make and effort"

Oh yeah, the league is in great shape.

I guess if you only look at the quality of football you would concider the league in great shape. I've played in the MFL for more than 10 years and the improvement of play over that period has been great. But!!!! stating it's i great shape is a little over zealous, last year 3 of the 7 clubs had ok teams (Bambil, Cardy, Golly) one obvious standout (backed by lots of $$$$), the year before was similar (Golly, Cardy, Pies)and the year bfore that the same (Golly, Cardy, Roos). A consistant and even comp is what supporters and spectators want, going out to watch your team get beaten by more than 100 points is shit house. The league strength is gauged by it's weakest link. How long can teams like Nangi hold on. Proud club people will never let their team die but without a system to prevent buying a flag it will slowly whittle away. It took the SFL a while to get it right but any one of 5 teams could have got up for their flag last yr. Bring on a points system!!!!!!!

A third clearance has been put in for Aaron Clarke and it is to Cardross!

This Aaron Clarke punter is going to end up with more jumpers before the season starts than your mate Harro:)

Re: Millewa Football League

News just in is Mark East has signed on @ the Merbein ??? any truth to the rumor Skeeter. Thought you might have a little inside info on that one! as i also heard also that Like Gaine will be Ass Coach with him??? Although not sure how much coaching they'll do under Neagle!!! Bit of a
Matriarch.

Yeah I can confirm both have signed and Ganey confirmed as an A/C. Not 100% on Easty being another A/C although i think he might be.

Heard a rumour Josh Kelly from Cardy will be travelling during the year so likely to only play a handful of early games. Huge loss if true as i put him as their best player and one of the best blokes also.

Could have bigger ramifications then just the Cardy midfield with his best mate Bogga not having any real ties their if Josh leaves. Could Golly be an option for the lightning quick defender???
