Milne charged with 4 counts of rape

how? I'd take Milne over Cloke anyday. would suit our forward line and he's just about the best small forward ever to play the game. LOL

Milne is certainly one of the great small forwards on stats but id easily rather have Cloke in my side. Different strokes and all that.

If 'the game' is Saturday night, at Etihad, under the roof, in the regular season against weak opponents... then he definitely is the best the game has ever seen. Otherwise... yeah nah.

its not "on stats" that you'd have him. you need a big fella, simple and plain. Cloke is ideal. stats are.... Milne would kick as many goals. but yeah, different strokes as you say.

I'm sorry for bringing Collingwood into this. FWIW, I didn't mention Cloke first.

Dont start spinning this rubbish. Hes a small forward. All his peers graduated to the midfield and never spaent theri entire careers in the forward pocket.

He is the best ever career forward pocket but thats a small sample set of about 5 players in the history of the game..
Getting way off topic (probably a good thing in this circumstance), but ... Daicos?

Pretty despicable stuff all-round.

I don't know what's worse tbh; the possibility of Milne having r*ped a women, or St Kilda allegedly using their influence to impede a police investigation and cover up the alleged incident.

I'm glad I'm not Milney. If he is innocent, he must be going through hell right now. The blokes copped it for 9 years and copped it really well. I'm reserving any judgement until after all the facts come out.

I understand him not playing this weekend and I'm selfishly glad he's not. But I hope to see him back out on the field before the end of the year. Even with a pending trial I can't see why he shouldn't be allowed to play if his head is in the right place.

I just want to hear there are people in this sport that are decent and are are inspirational.

After hearing Sam Johnston's story on the media tonight - the actor who is riding around Australia for his his sister dying of cancer - I just wonder why AFL players who are so privileged cannot lift their act.

And while I ask for players to do better, I am asking even more for administrators and coaches to raise their act too.
And you know who you are.

That's because any decent forward pocket moves up the ground to the midfield.

Ben Cousins kicked 30+ goals as a teenager in a forward pocket, but moved into the midfield.

Milne's not good enough for a midfield role, but good enough to maintain his position in the pocket.

There'd be scores of blokes who could play the role better, but they took on the challenge to have a more meaningful impact.

Steve Johnson is a classic example, oodles better than Milne as a footballer.

Who cares how he plays?

As much as we all love to hate him, milnes been a good footballer. You don't play over 250 games and kick over 500 if you're average. Johnson is on target to perhaps catch this record.

Don't you get it? It isn't about his football record.

I'd like someone, anyone on AFL Bigfooty to start a thread to tell me about someone decent in this game....someone like Sam Johnston.
Not a manufactured, PR construction but someone universal and unquestionably decent. As you probably suspect we haven't met one yet...other than two volunteer coaches of very young players...many years ago.

Tell me about these decent people. Restore my faith in AFL 'humanity'.

What influence could a footy club have over police. If they did have, what would happen if stronger ( ie organised crime ) exerted influence. But from what the police have recently said, the original case was botched rather than covered up. Things that should have been followed up that weren't ,as well as very disorganised filing were complained about .

Actually couldn't care about the Cloke reference at all, just think it is laughable that Milne is considered to be close to the best small forward in the history of the game.

Isn't Shane Crawford riding to Perth?

It's not worth much, given that you said he was better than all of Collingwood's forwards. Who did you think would be brought into it?

I said he was a better forward than Travis Cloke, I also said he was one of the best small forwards ever to play the game. you and the other 3 offended Pies drew the rest of the comparisons :D

nobody else complained!!!

If this bloke is innocent and surely he has the right to that assumption then this decision to stand him down is quite harsh.

I am not sure which way id go, my first reaction is that anyone could accuse an afl player of rape, and you can see plenty of opportunities for it to happen and be lies, so why should he miss games, when it especially probably ends a career.

On the other side, this has been lingering a while and to finally charge him seems to imply there is a strong strong case, but how can we presume this i guess.

If he did it and the club and afl is seen to have supported him then it looks bad for the brand and is disrespectful to the victim perhaps.

Its a difficult decision for the saints and you have to respect they made a strong call in a situation that you could never make everyone happy. Maybe they believe its best for him and best for the other players

offended? By Milne? Since when? You can say something as many times as you like, doesn't make it any closer to being true.

I was just stating the fact that Milne is a good footballer with a great record. Not sure what you think I don't get.

Footy is full of great stories if you have a look but the general public don't give two hoots. Why when we can talk about killing off clubs, alleged rapists, drug cheats and tear anyone down we can.
Who cares about Sam rowes story, the work players do with foundations like the red cross and beyond blue? They don't sell papers.
