I hope the families of those on board have the support they need at the moment.

..

Regardless of the outcome of this vessel, I hope that in future expeditions to the wreck site discontinue. The site is essentially a mass grave in which a total nightmare cocktail of factors went wrong leading to the intense suffering of a lot of people.

I don’t think it would be wise, or a very pleasant thing to do, for anyone else to attempt to visit this site.

Yep he seems to think they know when Titan is, if true just a matter of how quickly they can find it, raise it from the sea and if there are any survivors.
Only way there's survivors is if they decided one or more weren't making it back.

The fascination exists for a reason. I don't think there is anything wrong with exploring a ship wreck or extreme exploration in general.

Sad that this will now be a recovery mission rather than a rescue mission but not surprising, it would've taken a miracle for them to have been rescued.

I wonder if the sub will ever be found now or if it will end up like MH370, if they couldn't find a big plane I don't like their chances of finding a little sub.

I mentioned early on in the MH370 thread here that they may never find the plane, that was scoffed at but it's almost 10 years later and it's still missing

The area has been heavily mapped. Differences in future mappings should find the sub you would think. Possibly not if they are literally caught up in the wreckage.

no. If people want to, let them. I just hope there is some understanding about how dangerous it is. It is like going to Space. Something goes wrong and you are in big big trouble.

Our knowledge of the deep sea is quite limited still. Every trip(or F-up) deepens our understanding and tech. It also deepens the research funding for innovation of deep sea diving.

just don't take shortcuts or treat it as a big joke.

I watched a video on youtube of Stockton Rush, the now missing presumed dead CEO of Ocean Gate showing the inside of the sub.

It's literally a tiny trash can. The thought of five people stuck inside that thing, for days on end waiting to die is pretty horrific.

People paid a hell of a lot of money to go on these underwater tours, but i wouldn't get inside that thing for love nor money.

I hope everyone is found alive, but i doubt that they'll ever be found. As they say it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. I'm just shocked that there was no gps or radar tracking their location.

Debris field found in the search area, currently being evaluated.

Looks like a catastrophic implosion about the time it lost communication- which is exactly what a few of the experts thought was most likely
