Freddie Freeman doing Freddie Freeman things.

For the wrong team. :( :( :(

I'm not a Dodgers fan, but a 4-0 whitewash of the Yankees in the World Series would be a beautiful day in MLB history.

Stepping away from the World Series for a moment, but Australia will be participating in the WBSC Premier12 tournament in November. The 12 highest ranked nations play in a tournament that will be split between Japan, Taiwan and Mexico.

The 12 countries are split into two groups of six, and play a round robin. The top two qualifiers from each group then go on to compete in the Super Round, with the first and second placed teams from the Super Round then meeting in the Championship game and the third and fourth placed teams competing for bronze.

The Super Round, the Championship game and the third place playoff will be played at the Tokyo Dome.

The current rankings (as of September 2024) are as follows:

1Japan5736
=2Mexico4118
=2Taiwan4118
4Venezuela3941
5USA3687

Australia had fallen out of the top 12 after the countries had been set for the Premier12.

One of the players that will be representing Australia at this tournament is a coach at my son's club. He umpired my son's baseball game last Sunday and has helped coach my son and his teammates both at his summer club and his winter club. He's flying out to Japan on Friday morning for a training camp before they go to Taiwan to play their pool games. Hopefully Australia progresses through to the Super Round, but they're in a tough group.

Australia plays the Dominican Republic in the first pool game on 15 November, followed by a game against Cuba on 16 November and their final game against South Korea on 18 November.

The rules of the Premier12 mean that no team can select an active player from a 40-man MLB roster. Fortunately for Australia, that means that Travis Bazzana is free to play, because the Guardians did not add him to their 40-man roster in the season.

Australia's pitchers are RHP Tim Atherton, RHP Josh Guyer, RHP Sam Holland, LHP Jon Kennedy, LHP Steve Kent, LHP Dan McGrath, RHP Mitch Neunborn, RHP Warwick Saupold, LHP Will Sherriff, LHP Lewis Thorpe, LHP Blake Townsend, RHP Todd Van Steensel, RHP Luke Wilkins and RHP Coen Wynne.

Australia's position players are Ryan Battaglia (catcher), Alex Hall (catcher), Robbie Perkins (catcher), Jake Bowey (1B), Rixon Wingrove (1B), Travis Bazzana (INF), Jarryd Dale (INF), Robbie Glendinning (INF), Darryl George (INF), Liam Spence (utility), Ulrich Bojarski (OF), Tim Kennelly (OF), Aaron Whitefield (OF) and Solomon Maguire (OF).

Although Australia plays its pool games in Taiwan, it will actually play a one-off preliminary stage game in Nagoya against Japan in front of a sold-out crowd.

Japan has not named Roki Sasaki as one of its pitchers, nor has it named Munetaka Murakami among its position players for the tournament. However, its 28 strong roster all come from the NPB and many of them were part of the squad that won the World Baseball Classic in 2023.

The USA has gone for a mix of youth of experience, with Dick Mountain (Rich Hill) named as one of the starters, along with Anthony Gose and Touki Toussaint, both of whom have recent MLB experience. Highly rated prospect Termarr Johnson has also been named in the squad, together with Oakland Athletic prospect Colby Thomas.

Unfortunately, the tournament will be broadcast by DAZN, so I'm not likely to be able to watch the games - I'll keep an eye out for the highlights, and I'm hopeful that my son's club coach plays very well in the tournament.

Gets to the point where you just intentionally walk him. That's six straight WS games with a HR. Pretty sure that's a new individual record.

Would’ve walked him after the Grand Slam walk off. He can’t run either, so just force him to run bases without harming batting wise.

It's going from bad to worse for the Yankees. An idiot Yankees fan pulls a ball out of Mookie's glove on Torres' fly ball. What an absolute ****wit. And the ****knuckle next to the first ****knuckle grabs Betts' wrist. They better be ejected and suspended from ever attending a MLB game again for that shit.
