Let’s face it, sante was just an animal this season. He reminded me of a young me, back when I was a mere frisky colt in the bars of Bangkok. He showed energy, he showed stamina, he showed a willingness to close his eyes.

I love him. So yes - sante wins my award for this season.

The Eth Award is named after one of the greatest captains, player and teammate of this great club. Introduced a number of seasons ago, the Eth Award is voted on by players and is an accolade to be incredibly proud of.

Past winners of this award include Tarks, Headless, Van_Dyke, Callums_Guns, myself, Oddhawk and Yakker.

Once again, voting for Season 33’s award was done individually by PM with me.

This season we had a really strong spread of votes across a number of posters, which again highlights just how many great contributors we have in our squad. Some of you even voted for me, which will be noted the next time I have to make a decision that directly affects your enjoyment of this board.

It was super-close in the end, but the winner of this esteemed award is – once again – Headless .

It is now the third season in a row that our dear friend has won this prestigious and much-vaunted award.

Headless is quite simply the goat. And I don’t mean to say he’s a cloven-hoofed animal belonging to the mammalian order Artiodactyla. Oh heavens no.

I mean to say he’s very likely the best poster this entire league has ever produced. There. I said it.

This round was the 500th game of the one and only Tarkyn_24. We celebrated the occasion with a comfortable loss, and now sat second last on the ladder. We came up against the Warriors. The match thread was a little quieter than some we've seen in the past, which was actually very pleasant - particularly given the opposition included the likes of Tonga Bob, TheInjuryFactory, our dear friend pantskyle (also celebrating a milestone - game 309), NaturalDisaster, and A Swallow.

But all attention was on Tarkyn_24 - and WOW, Tarks delivered! In a round where okeydoke7 kicked 10 goals at full forward, Tarks also went bang, kicking the first goal of the game in the first few minutes before being benched for Headless. An astute coaching move, some would say!

Things didn't go so well after that, however. It was a tight game for the most part - we even led by nine points at the final change - but the Warriors were much too strong in the final term. A ten-goal drubbing saw us go down by 35 points.

For the Demons, commendable sim performers included:

• sante (8 goals - not quite enough to get us across the line)

In Round 10, we (11th) came up against the in-much-better-form-than-us Dragons (5th), in a game we really needed to win to keep our slight finals aspirations alive.

The thread had a strong start before trailing off a little, but we still enjoyed opposition contributions from the likes of serial_thrilla, T2B_, Strigoi, Braklet, and Pie 4 Life (who was very vocal in celebrating #Tarks501).

sante got us off to a great start, with a goal in the first 47 seconds. By quarter time, we'd established an 11 point lead. The game was extremely topsy-turvy (and high-scoring) thereafter, with many lead changes. At half time, we were down by six points, before taking the lead (three points) again at the final change, and ultimately winning by 15 points.

On the field, stand-out performers included:

In Round 11, Callums_Guns informed us this would be a farewell game of sorts - for now. CG has been a wonderful, wonderful member of this club. In my entire time in the league, I can't think of a poster who has been more consistently engaging, inclusive, or selfless. Thanks for everything, CG - we're all hoping to see you back at the Demons as soon as possible.

Preferably Round 1, Season 34.

We travelled in Round 11 to face the Las Vegas Bears at The Stadium in the Sky. It was one of the top six most active match threads of the round - #grandfinalrematch (339 pages, 8,451 posts at time of writing) just pipped us. Opposition friends such as JoshWoodenSpoon, Suns Supreme, I Dont Care, Cap, and Millky95 were most active for the opposition.

It was a high-scoring affair, with a cumulative total of 259 points. Unfortunately we were on the wrong end of it in the end, going down by a comfortable (for them) 45 points. We got out of the blocks well and led by 12 points at quarter time, but were behind at every other siren; we didn't recover after conceding ten (10) goals in the second quarter.
