Round 2 saw us host our reserves and feeder side, the Fighting Furies. The Furies are an eclectic bunch, and the match thread saw prominent contributions from a wide range of opposition posters, but perhaps notably our dear friend Toump Ass. Of course, the ex-Demon was banned halfway through the match thread, but we can always look back fondly upon the days we had together. They were simpler times.

In warm conditions, the game started in style, with sante dominating the first quarter from full forward. At the first break, we were 12 points in front - and extended that to 13 at the half in what was a high-scoring affair. By three-quarter time, we were 21 points up and, despite the Furies always looking threatening, we held on to a relatively comfortable 32-point win.

The sim blesses us with many strong performances, but perhaps the best of them all was jmoo wan (27 disposals, 7 marks, 4 goals, 3 behinds). Yakker (28 disposals, 5 marks, 1 goal), Quivorir (22 disposals, 3 goals), and moginie (20 disposals, 3 marks, 4 tackles, 1 goal) also put in commendable performances. So - well done to those players.

haydo and cats2rise combined for a special 7 disposals, 2 marks, and 1 free against.

Prolific posters for the Demons included Headless, Proper Gander, sante, Callums_Guns (who selflessly sat this one out), and manangatang.

With both teams sitting at 1-1, we made the trip for our first away game of the season, this time against the Roys. The match thread started a little slowly but ended up being very active and enjoyable, with strong contributions from opposition posters such as Mobbs, Zevon, TedDougChris, Dingster, Cats_R_Cool_4_Ever, Mike, Wosh, and hotchilli - amongst others.

After a pre-game hit of tennis on behalf of Mobbs, the actual game went a little less swimmingly. Lore put on a first quarter masterclass and we never really recovered. The Roys put on six first quarter goals to our one, and then seven goals to three in the second. We performed a little better in the third quarter (four goals to the Roys' two), but then they ran away with it in the final term.

On the field, manangatang kept Mooch to donuts (let's ignore the sim rotations). Azarole (20 disposals, 3 marks, 4 tackles, 1 goal) and cats2rise (27 disposals, 5 marks) impressed against their old teammates. cooney (20 disposals, 1 goal) was solid as always, whilst Headless (4 goals) managed to hit the scoreboard.

Excitingly, we enjoyed the return of Oddhawk in this round. Prolific match thread contributors included Proper Gander, Headless, sausageroll, sante, and Callums_Guns (again selflessly sitting out).

With Barrybran in sizzling goal-kicking form, this one was always going to be tough, but we went into Round 4 - Proper Gander's 150th game - with high hopes. Unfortunately, we weren't switched on from the get go, exemplified by two interchanges in the first minute of the game.

It didn't get much better from there - the Gumbies piled on five goals to nil in the first quarter, and a further four goals to one in the second. haydo kicked our one and only goal for the half in the final minute of the second quarter.

We stabilised a little in the third, before the Gumbies kicked away again in the final quarter, with seven goals to our one. Barrybran kicked seven goals for the Gumbies, but everybody saw that coming through the week. Bluelegs didn't bother to trouble the scorers, but there weren't many stand-out sim performers. moginie (23 disposals, 12 marks (#1 league-wide in that round), 2 tackles, 1 goal) and haydo (24 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 1 goal) were probably our best.

It was another good match thread overall, with nice showings from opposition posters such as Ned_Flanders, DenieD, and beez (hope that bathroom came along nicely). I really enjoyed the work of opposition rookie Bulldogs85.

On our side of the fence, prolific contributors included Headless, Proper Gander, manangatang, Callums_Guns, and sausageroll.

What is a cats2rise medal? I ask myself this very question almost every single day of my pitiful existence. Bleak and marked as it is by an everlasting sense of dread and foreboding.

When it becomes all just a bit much for me to work through, I just jump onto BigFooty and I just darn well look for myself.

BigFooty says that the cats2rise medal is the award handed out by the Mt. Buller Demons Sweet F.A. club to each season’s club-leading goalkicker. Well there you go. It's named after some club legend or something. I don't know the guy personally, but this is what I hear.

So who might be the winner of this coveted award (which is named after a simply lovely fellow whose hatred for the Wonders is a thing of beauty) for Season 33?

Well, I feel the answer to that is even simpler than the question I initially posed. The award goes to the person who has kicked the most goals in Season 33! Of course! You silly!

And that person just happens to be the lovely sante . After Proper Gander generously moved into a prime midfield position, sante was left to anchor our forward line, using his barely existent experience as a forward to lead us to many famous victories.

I just love the way he’s re-emerged as a poster this season as well and have thoroughly enjoyed his witty and thoughtful match thread (and media) contributions.
