My 2008 Brownlow Medal - Cooney and Harvey tie

Just wait and see. Cooney can win it along with Harvey.

I can't see Harvey winning.

My earlier analysis had him on 25 on a best case scenario.

Whilst this is possible, I'd be very surprised to see him hit 25.

I am yet to see any evidence that Harvey has any other shot of winning.

He gave a preview at the Computers & Mathematics in Sport conference on the Gold Coast last week. Apparently he's got Cooney winning this year! The Champion Data count has Ablett & Bartel tied on 26, a long way ahead of Cooney (17 I think), Franklin, Riewoldt & Harvey.

Wow, Bailey backing Cooney in gives me a lot more confidence in him. I guess you wouldn't have the count would you Rourke?

Hey guys,

i did my own brownlow count as well, i seem to be the only person who thinks that cox may not get WCE highest votes, obviously he will go close or win it, but i tihnk priddis @ $10 is value as he was in the top 2 possy getters in 3 out of their 4 wins....also west coast got slaughtered on many occassions when cox played well, so i doubt he will get votes there.

Suggestions please?

Since 2002 only three players have gotten 26 votes or more - Judd, Bartel, and Buckley. Each was the winner in their respective year. Four players getting 26+ in one year doesn't seem too likely.

HTF does that work?

Buckley was a 3 way winner - so surely that would mean goodes and ricciutto got 26+ as well.

Or Buckley didn't get 26+

or Buckley didn't win in a year he got 26 votes

Swan is paying $51 on Centrebet. I'm surprised a bit by that, but I guess it shows he has had a good year.

Then after Swan, they have Kirk at $81.

Collected the winnings I had on the nags today, and placed a flurry of bets. No real science to most of them, just whatever came after the other. For those wanting to do the outrageous multibets, realise that the highest you can win on them is 5k:

Players Not Quoted (Leigh Montagna) for St Kilda most votes/Players Not Quoted (Byron Schammer) for Fremantle most votes = $496

Most votes for Sydney = Jarrad McVeigh / Most votes for Melbourne = Cameron Bruce = $18

Cameron Bruce/Dean Cox/Dane Swan/Chris Judd (most votes for club) = $7.63

Richardson/Harvey/Thompson/Cooney/Ablett (most votes for club) = $7.13

M.McVeigh/Schammer/Cassisi (most votes for club) = $1007.50

Ablett/Harvey quinella = $4.50

Ablett to poll 25/26 votes = $5

Swan/Bateman/Cox (most votes per club) = $20

J.McVeigh/Montagna/Cassisi = $1456

Brownlow head to head multi:
Corey over Judd
B.Harvey over Ablett
Cooney over Riewoldt
J.Selwood over S.Black
Richardson over Pavlich
= $20.38

Lets see how we go.......eek.

I am interested to know why a few people are picking Judd?

If people are picking Judd, I am picking Greg Tivendale. I have as much chance of winning right?

You can win over 5k in SA. I have a number of multi's on at the TAB that all come over 5k. On a online sportsbook I use I've done a few for fun that will pay out 50k.

My Top ten

1. Lance Franklin *
2. Jimmy Bartel
--Adam Cooney
--Matthew Richardson
-- Joel Corey
6. Gary Ablett
7. Brent Harvey
8. Jason Akermanis
9. Matthew Pavlich
10. Simon Black

Also, just a question, say I back Richo for a place, and like above he finishes 4th, does he still get the place because Buddy is ineligible?

As far as I am aware, yes.

I did my own phantom brownlow, and i came up with the following.

L.Franklin(HAW) - 22 votes.
M.Richardson(RIC) & B.Kirk(SYD) - 19 votes.
S.Mitchell(HAW), B.Harvey(NML) & S.Black(BRL) - 18 votes.

Those were basically the leaders, i also polled the leaders of each club as being;

Brisbane - (Simon Black - 18 votes)
Carlton - (Nick Stevens - 12 votes)
Collingwood - (Dane Swan - 16 votes)
Essendon - (Matthew Lloyd - 9 votes)
Fremantle - (Matthew Pavlich - 15 votes)
Geelong - (Jimmy Bartel - 27 votes)
Hawthorn - (Lance Franklin - 22 votes)
Melbourne - (Paul Wheatley & Brad Green - 5 votes)
North - (Brent Harvey - 18 votes)
Port Adelaide - (Kane Cornes - 12 votes)
Richmond - (Matthew Richardson - 19 votes)
St Kilda - (Nick Riewoldt - 16 votes)
Sydney - (Brett Kirk - 19 votes)
West Coast - (Dean Cox - 10 votes)
Bullies - (Adam Cooney - 14 votes)
